Mihawk and Crocodile are finishing up their dungeon beating of Buggy. The situation was, in business terms, an inconvenience. A document Buggy sent in Mihawk's orders and was lost in transport. It was a mishap that was completely out of their hands.
But because Buggy was prone to screw things up and other things were starting to get under their skin that this blew their lid.
They weren't as bad as the start but they're certainly not friends. With that they fought but Buggy was giving as good as he received. Actively dodging, weaving and chop-chopping out of their way.
But at the end, where Croc had Buggy by the collar of his shirt, and Mihawk had the clown by knife point. Buggy gathered all the bolster and conviction he had, stared them dead on and said the next.
"For all the times you curse me to hell, here's my hex to you.
One day, you will blink and find yourself in a different atmosphere than we are right now. An atmosphere where you are happy to work with me, look forward to seeing me, delighted to hear about me, worried for my well-being. Appalled by the memory of how you are treating me right now. You will feel complete and utter shame at the memory of you even harming a hair on my head. You will feel regret for making me cry. And when you feel that clarity hit you of the change, you will be sick to your stomach at the thought of making things go back to this time. You will be completely and utterly powerless to move from your comfortable surroundings.
By the vows between the Moon and Sea, this moment will find you."
Buggy was let go and the clown left without an ounce of shame.
Crocodile and Mihawk will never admit that they felt shaken up. They couldn't help but feel that this wasn't a run-of-the-mill weak threat, it felt like a promise.
°•~☆Bonus☆~•° We cut to about two years and the hex became more of a prediction from the Universe full of spite. Cuz after that ordeal Crocodile and Mihawk would reluctantly respect Buggy, which lead to them be amicable and see what Buggy's capable of. To which that lead to a kinship and development emotions for eachother. And culminated at a relationship. They were having a mundane, almost boring day, to suddenly feel aware of their surroundings. ".....Fuck. He was right."
Just love when writers let Buggy fight in their stories! Because in Impel Down has shown that Buggy will fight if he has no other choice (or in this story idea’s case, maybe just totally fucking done with this bullshit) I mean Buggy likes to use his common sense… most of the time. There are times where I feel like I’m seeing him shooting his common sense out of a cannon when he commits to do stuff like trying to kill Luffy in Lougetown or pretending to want to kill Whitebeard. In his defense, the clown is a One Piece character! And almost every One Piece character is on a scale of how batshit crazy they are compare to others.
Buggy to me in the same category as Usopp. Characters that usually knows their limits in situations and at worst, think they know their limits, but underhand it by a long shot.
Another thing is how Buggy fights. It’s not in the way that would make him look cool in a edgy shonen Manga-way. Yeah no that’s not Buggy. I need that clown being as unhinged as he can be. Using anything he can get his grubby clown hands on to fight with. I need those fights to sometimes include a funny hint to them. Like Buggy should be able to smack Crocodile over the head with a steel chair like one of those memes and crack a flower vase against Mihawk’s arms. Hell make Buggy grab a broken part of a wooden chair and get the clown to threaten that he'll stab Mihawk in the heart with this makeshift stake.
Also that horror aspect that OPLA is getting into for Buggy. Is definitely something I like a lot as well. So Buggy weaving and chop-chopping around to dodged their attacks while using his devil fruit is just perfect for him. It's so deeply unsettling thinking about it if it's their live action characters! 😁 Because watching someone splitting their body into chunks will always be creepy, no matter what context it is, if you see it in real life.
There had to be something they had to said for Buggy know Mihawk and Crocodile weren't gonna kill him at that point. Also love that dialogue you made. I can't help to hear Buggy saying it like he's asking it in a loud gritty whisper way as the emperor stares them down.
Good for Buggy taking the time to slip out while Crocodile and Mihawk are still reeling from what he said. I just know he would for dramatic effect, walking out confidently and steady. Then when he is out of sight, that clown is bolting. Hauling ass away from those insane assholes. With thoughts of making sure that reality he talked about comes true.
For the Bonus: It might be me liking slow-burn fics at the moment. I kind of feel two years is way too short for that transition to loves. But then again, this is a toxic yaoi pairing and all three of them probably needs heavy therapy. Because Holy Stars, just look at the way they act! But the thought of Mihawk and Crocodile spending their time chilling one day once their lives finally click and everything feels right. The two remembers what Buggy said that faithful, maybe it’s because Crocodile and Mihawk were talking about the clown.
Maybe the two will wait until Buggy comes back or they go searching for Buggy to apologize once again for what has happened or maybe this is the first time they truly had a conversation about it. Maybe Crocodile and Mihawk apologized before in short words or with just their actions improving they have changed. I kind of want Buggy to absently mutters about this fight. Maybe Buggy would wave it off and tries to talk about something else or states he needs to be doing tasks and work. Maybe Buggy will look back, smugly grinning that he was right. Telling Mihawk and Crocodile that he was so angry that he blurted it out without truly thinking it over. Just wanted to shake them up. So many ideas!
