I think many people forget Shauna was the bestest friend who always showed up for Jackie during at least seven years - 2nd grade to freshman year. That's why Jackie spent her last moments dreaming about Shauna comforting her. She wasn't always the backstabbing bitch y'all hate.

Headcanon that... Lena was actually named Léana but the Luthors changed it to erase her heritage along with any connection to her Irish childhood. Support On Tiktok
Woke in the original pro-Black way first and foremost.
Laufey is great but...
Why is a Wasian woman the face of jazz for current youths?
First of all, jazz is Black music - that's a hill I'll die on and read you this rant from so don't bother listening if you don't like that.
So, while my anger isn't personally directed at Laufey, she is a perfect example of Blackness being accepted when there's no Black person.
There absolutely are brilliant Black jazz artists. Why aren't they mainstream to even a degree that Laufey is? Because Laufey doesn't have coily hair, brown skin, a wide nose, full lips, round hips or any other Black traits*.
*Traits that aren't exclusively Black or on every Black person but are notably visible in the Black community.
Of course being Wasian opens Laufey up to racism. I'm not denying that fetishization harmfully allows pale Asian women to be cute and soft. For example, the infatuation with K-Pop/K-Drama/K-Beauty has not only romantically bled onto all of Korea but also any pale Asian.
However, in addition to that; not opposed to that, her proximity to whiteness does come with advtanges. She was able to have a soft, dreamy presence in a Black genre that Black women aren't allowed to because fame mostly comes when we're loud - through 2000s/earlier pop, contact sports, violence, suffering, protest, rap and more.
We have to shout to be heard.
Want to help? hear us.
Push celebrities to be advocates. They don't have to single handedly stop racism. But the entire point is that they have an entire platform to influence and as a battering ram.
Listen to the Black artists in your favorite genres that lack Black mainstream artists.
I don't think that message should come without direction to healthier ways to feel loved and beautiful. Its one thing to leave a young girl lost because you've correctly yet harshly criticized her unsafe coping mechanism, its an even better thing to suggest tools she can use to build a happier healthier safer and kinder life.
That said, here's what helped me:
friendships that have the right attachment; not codependency but not neglect either - can healthily live without but regularly live together
solo dates; it doesn't have to be romantic, just hang out with yourself like you wouldn't friend. the GLAM industry is a great way to do that.
learn body neutralization; don't be negative but don't romanticize yourself to feel good - your arms are just arms, your belly is just a belly, your legs are just legs. Your body is just a body. Then, find parts about your body that you genuinely like without hateful eyes and rose coloured glasses.
don't let yourself be miserable for longer than necessary. of course experience emotions genuinely. but don't force yourself to stay sad because it's easier. instead of getting yourself into trouble - have a dance, go on a walk, hug who you can, watch a show, write a book. Hobbies is genuinely one of the best ways to help.
If anyone has other tips, feel free to comment or reblog your own advice! And this is for anyone who puts themselves in harms way, not just girls - I see and care about you all.
i am such a pervert obsessive freak but its okay because my heart is pure and i'm a girl
Some say, "I care about animals more than humans."
I say, "humans are animals, we are all nature and we should all care for nature."
What do you say?
wore silver instead of gold yesterday and nobody noticed. guess everyone hates me...
Honestly I'm getting increasingly bothered by white queer people.
"you need to let it go"
i'll actually take it to the grave, thanks
and I'll damn well take it to the afterlife too.

No one talks about how underrepresented people of colour are in other underrepresented groups because no one cares about us when our race isn't the focus.
