I really dislike Kawaii Future Bass or whatever this genre is called so I made it sound shitty with a bunch of random samples.

Damn. Skill Issue.
What's the best highly specific "it absolutely doesn't work like that but it makes a fun story" trope?

Who wants to make a peller box?
Guess what! I finally gathered my pages of scribbled notes, my camera of haphazard in-progress pictures, and finally compiled a set of instructions for making one of these bad boys!
And not only that, but I've got two versions of this baby. I like mixing and matching my unit families because sometimes 1/32 inch sparks joy and sometimes 14 mm is just so convenient, but especially since all of my chipboard comes in english thicknesses, here's a version of the process for my fellow imperial units weirdos:
Let’s talk about Peller boxes. If you’ve tried looking into ideas for FANCY-fancy enclosures for books, you’ve probably tripped across one o
And here's one for the sensible folks of the world, raised on a base-ten system rather than dividing everything in half and then in half and then in half-- I won't subject you to inches, when there's a workaround, but I was tempted! Have your localized version of the story and have fun with it:
Let’s talk about Peller boxes. If you’ve tried looking into ideas for FANCY-fancy enclosures for books, you’ve probably tripped across one o
Mad credit of course goes to Hugo Peller, who developed these things in the first place, but also to Jack Fetterer, who preserved a set of notes from a 1990 class, which, as far as I can tell, are the most complete set of instructions available online. But I'm an engineer, I couldn't be satisfied there, I had bludgeon it into a system of equations, sorted by usage and material. And I also go into some of the hiccups I ran into trying to follow those class instructions, like being a green amateur at leatherwork, or not having the equipment to saw plywood boards in my apartment.
I can't claim any kind of expertise in this type of work, but I beat my head against an interesting problem, and it's time to share what I got out of it! And, secret goal, I want to help more people make more cool things, and maybe improve on my process in ways I can absorb and chew on in the future. Save my work, change it, I dare anyone who sees this to improve it!! I want it to be better. Credit would be cool, and of course the actual experts I leveraged for this deserve all the credit in the world, but that's not my priority. I want the world to have more exciting things in it, and I want more people to have exciting skills. Go forth and go nuts!!

The Collectibles: Best of 2022
For anyone wanting to use the Popia Vest Details:
I put the files available for download here, for anyone who wants to download and use the full res version instead of the little screencap I posted earlier.
I drew it as vector art in Clip Studio Paint. I've uploaded both the original .clip file and an exported .svg. The best quality version is the .clip file, for those who use CSP.
The .svg works, I tossed it into InkScape to make sure before uploading it, but it misses a lot of the nice line strokes n stuff that the .clip has. It gets the general idea across, at least? Just, it's best if you turn off any fill and have a low (~1px) stroke width or it gets messy. Maybe in the future I'll get around to optimizing it and making sure it's not ugly as sin, and updating the symbols as I get more/better references... but for now, this is all I got.
ANY AND EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO USE IT, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DO SO, FOR FREE!
But if you'd like to send me links of the stuff you make with it, that'd be super cool~
and lemme know if the download doesn't work or something, so I can fix it.

Since I’ve started using a cane, I’ve noticed a lot of actors & cartoonists aren’t sure how to depict characters with them! Here’s a simple cheat sheet to help.
Caveat: Unless they aren't using it for an injured leg.
I live in fear of being accused of "faking" because I don't do this with mine. I move it to wherever I need it for balance, on either side. Yes my phsyical therapist knows. Yes it's what I ought to be doing in my case.
My legs aren't injured, my entire body is extremely weak and fatigued. My cane isn't for a single-side leg injury, mine is to help me stay upright.
People use canes for a lot of reasons, so when you draw your character, be sure to find out WHY they have one, then find out HOW that user would use theirs.
Yeah I'm using it on my weak leg's side too, using the cane in parrallel to it to take off weight from my hip and into my upper body instead. There's no wrong way to use disabled accomodation, unless it's harming you. Do what feels best.
I do have an injured leg (old injury from when I was in the service) and my leg tends to give me more issues when standing then when walking. I tend to use my cane on the same side as the injury to act as stability for my bad leg while standing stationary im one place for a long time.
