HPQD: Birthdays
‘Sometimes in the journey you can forget the purpose of the trip.’ Me, rn, trying to sound fancy.
MASTERPOST
────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
It’s my birthday on an undisclosed Libra date (wish me happy birthday pls I need the attention), and so I present to you this post, because I haven’t done a QD in MONTHS. And as much as I love Greggie… Hot werewolf man. That’s it.
Requests and other funnies are comings, this was just for the sillies.
────── ·𖥸· ────── · ·
CONTENT: Not much, for once. Mentions of sex in Fenrir's paragraph (because of course), LV being a toxic (overly controlling etc).
INFO- Each DILF has a birthday quality rating and a best gift given rating. Be underwhelmed.
Approx 1k words: Very lil pookie baby.
Barty Crouch Sr- Traditional and Well-Planned:
He’s a simple man with very limited needs, in terms of it. In fact, you probably won’t even know when his birthday is until the day-of, and his sisters send him cards. That being said, your birthday is a completely different game. It’s easiest for him to show affection through material gifts, so expect flowers, jewellery, and anything that you’ve had your eye on over the course of the year may mysteriously appear in a gift basket at some point during the day. Barty will go through all the motions of the birthday, he’ll take you for dinner, then the theatre, and the day after you’ll have a small family gathering. He has it arranged very far in advance, he likes to be planned. It becomes your little tradition, and you’re oddly alright with that.
Birthday Rating: 6/10 - Solid, non-spontaneous.
Best Gift: That pair of overly expensive shoes you swore you didn’t need and he told you he wouldn’t buy… He still bought them. 7/10: -3 points for lying.
Fenrir Greyback- Woodland Chaos:
Do you remember participating in/ watching kids organise things for Mother’s Day? This exact vibe. He’s not very good at remembering small things: what to bring home from the shops, which day it is, that sort of thing. He’ll get the date right, but the day wrong. Cue panic when he realises your birthday is today, and not tomorrow. But, living in a forest and being a canonic pile of muscle has its advantages. He’ll hunt a few deer, maybe steal a cow from one of the farms a few miles out and you’ll have a lovely, if slightly meat-central, birthday barbeque. It is very rushed and something will be forgotten, but it’s very sweet. He does remember to get your presents well in advance, though.
Birthday Rating: 4/10- Buy this man a calendar, please. Points for getting your gifts, though.
Best Gift: Birthday sex. My man goes all out. 100+/10.
Rufus Scrimgeour- Money buys Happiness:
Let’s not forget Rufus is making bank as Minister. Let’s also not forget this man lives to get you whatever you want, whenever you want it. And what does a princess who has everything receive for her birthday? It started as whatever you wanted, but when you, like any self-respecting individual involved with an extraordinarily wealthy man, refused to take his money, it became an extended weekend trip to an undisclosed area of Europe. He’s Minister for Magic, and that comes with a certain level of international respect, especially as the famed War Minister. And so, you get a little trip to do some shopping, he’ll get a hotel with soap which has a higher net worth than you do, and when your next birthday comes around he’ll fight with you again over letting him buy you a present.
Birthday Rating: It’s a free trip to somewhere that isn’t GB- 10/10.
Best Gift: Cultural street food. A quiet night underneath street lighting, sitting in a park, with nothing really to say. A romantic, simple date. 8/10- It’s a coin flip whether or not you get food poisoning.
Lord Voldemort- Sweet or Creepy?:
We can be perfectly honest with ourselves, this is a judgement-free space… Tommy is creepy, he’s creepy as a kid, he’s creepy as a snake-talkin’ teenage hoodlum, and he’s creepy as a snake-lookin’ adult hoodlum. Isn’t that why we love him? You have, and always will have, guards with you at any time you’re not in the house, and this includes in the gardens, he’s not taking any chances. What this means is that he has two, or maybe even three, loyal, skilled men to watch over you. Anything you look at, or touch, or even mention in passing, will be recorded down and probably, eventually bought- Kind of like Barty, but in a depersonalised, slightly violating way. Your birthday dinner is about as cold and unfeeling as most Death Eater meetings are, but you get alcohol and attention, so who are you really to complain? As Dark Lady, there is a point where your personal life becomes a state affair, and this is one of them. But, if you’re good, he’ll give you a little picnic- Just the two of you, and maybe the children. It’s sweet, and a reminder that somewhere in him, there’s a heart which beats.
Birthday Rating (state affair): 3/10- I mean, who’s really complaining about free alcohol and wearing a pretty dress? +1 points for getting catering.
Birthday Rating (personal life): 9/10- Thought is put into it. It is sweet and simple, and you can forget your duty for just a moment.
Best Gift: A live Guinea pig (or other rodent of your choice- See the pets episode). 9/10- He feels bad about a snake eating the last one, so you get Nibbles. Nibbles does as his name suggests, and nibbles you when you first handle him. -1 point.
Igor Karkaroff- The Feast:
High Master does, at its very name suggests, require an awful lot of work, especially out of class time. He could work all day (not that he does) and still have more to do on overtime. His office is quite comfortable, though, so he shan’t particularly complain about it. That being said, living in an isolated mountain-castle in the middle of nowhere reduces the chances he’ll take you to a nice restaurant and a luxury hotel- There is no Hogsmeade equivalent for Durmstrang, remember- So, what do you get? A feast. You get a feast. And I don’t mean a tiny pizza slice and a fruit cup. Boars will be found, honey-mead will run like water, and there will be at least 4 days off for everyone to recover from the hangover. You are the best teacher this school has ever had, after all, you deserve a treat.
Birthday Rating: 10/10- (He has the Planning Committee organise and arrange the entire thing and then puts his name on it. It’s alright, you’ll get them a card).
Best Gift: More robes and/or pelt blankets- 6/10. It might sound a bit boring, but you do live in a literal mountain landscape, so it’s quite practical. +2 points for cosiness.
Hm...I just saw your HPQD posts recently and since requests are open, I might as well ask. Can you write abt how they show affection to their S/O? I'm pretty sure most people don't write stuff for these guys because they aren't exactly the most charming of folk. Btw I love these sm, you have no idea how much I've been searching for ppl to actually write stuff for these guys. -⭐Anon

So... I sort of did drop off the face of the earth for 2 1/2 months, sorry about that. I could do an A03 and say my house got eaten or smth, but it's actually just exam season in the UK right now. I'm off for summer, though, so maybe we'll get a boom of delicious DILF content? Maybe not though, I haven't decided yet...

Barty Crouch (Senior): PDA (Reluctantly)
Barty Crouch is a very private man, an exceptionally private man. You are his second partner, and you are obscenely younger than he is. He doesn’t like to be reminded of his age, but it occurs to him every time your brow crumples in confusion when he mentions something outdated to his friends, or when he watches you tuck in your teddy bears before you leave the hotel. Barty is assured a hundred times of his place, but still, something in him cringes when a younger, newer model catches your attention. He sees the glances you don’t, he knows exactly what is said about him, and you. And he doesn’t like what it does to him. So, he assures you that he is always there, no matter what happens. Part of it is showing you affection, another part is assuring himself that you want him. There is a joke amongst those you spend time with as a couple that you are physically connected, and he loves it. He enjoys the very clear demonstration that you are his, and you are more than comfortable to be paraded around on your much older, wealthier boyfriend. Is it parasocial? A little, but it seems to work.
Rufus Scrimgeour: Good Food
You’d never believe it, but Mr Minister is, in fact, quite a confident chef. We’ve learned that he owns several dogs- And what do rich people with dogs like to do? Cook them wildly elaborate, organic dishes. Not to call you a dog, of course, but to do a side by side comparison- He does put you both in little outfits and take you for walks…
Moving swiftly on…
Rufus is more than happy to take you across London for whatever strange gourmet you want; but, there is something sweet in sitting you at his kitchen island and ‘helping’. It reminds him of the long-gone cooking lessons of his childhood. You are the sous chef, and have full control over the dessert- He’s never had an especially sweet tooth. He does learn from one specific incident with a monkfish, however, that you are never to be trusted with the wine selection. Do not try him, and put that cabernet away.
Fenrir Greyback: Tributes
The dog genes run heavy in this man, and what are domestic dogs bred to do? Fetch. He won’t admit he and those cute, fluffy pomeranian dogs are cut from the same cloth (and don’t ever bring it up), but there’s something oddly sweet about six and a half feet of muscle bringing home treasures and making puppy eyes for your approval. Really, the only thing he wants is your approval, and he’s learned that you like pretty things to decorate your home with: shells, random glass bottles. Does he understand it? Absolutely not. Does it get him favour when he inevitably does something stupid? Of course it does.
He wants you to have a pretty home- Not because he hopes it makes you broody … Well, maybe because of that … But also because he doesn’t have the sense to have a nicely decorated house like anyone else would know how. If he can feel like he’s helping you by randomly producing a basket full of sea glass in the middle of November, then he’s happy enough that you feel he’s shown you adequate affection. That, and randomly headbutting you whilst you’re trying to work. You will never know peace with this man.
Lord Voldemort: Sex (And masking)
Realistically, this is how Tom shows his affection. He’s canonically unable to feel romantic love, but there’s no suggestion that he doesn’t feel sexual attraction- Looking at you, Delphini. As intertwined as the two usually are, it’s entirely possible his affection for you is both sexual and based on the familiarity of your existence. That being said, this is still an entirely valid form of showing affection (does this count as acts of service or physical touch? Both?). In his heyday Tommy boy was desired, and he knew it- Perhaps he’s even desired now, but for different reasons. As all Wattpad writers of the late 2010s and early 2020s will tell you, he knows how to get it. Is this always a positive? Of course not, but there are negatives to every form of affection. That being said, it’s important to recognise the majority of Tom’s “affection” is extensive masking. Most of what he does he knows is what the average person will expect from a relationship: PDA, affectionate names, etc. He is entirely intelligent enough to understand that you need certain things he doesn’t, and if it keeps you happy when he makes a great fuss of you during meetings, he’ll keep doing that.
Igor Karkaroff: Ill-Timed Reassurance
Contrary to popular belief, Igor does genuinely try his best most of the time. Sure, he’s a snitching, narcissistic, poor excuse for the teaching profession, but he is also your partner. And you’ve never seemed to mind about the other three things. Although he is not especially insecure about his place, it occurs to him every so often that he hasn’t paid ‘enough’ attention (believe me, Igor’s attention monitor is running on a different highway). This, naturally, is resolved through random moments of sweetness, which will make you think he’s either broken something, or someone.
Quite literally fighting off students during exam seasons? You’re so good at your job, my love.
Cooking pasta? You’re so sexy covered in flour.
Lying on the floor, doing nothing and bothering no-one? Damn, those floorboards were made for your ass.
You get the gist. It borders between hilarious and ridiculous quite often, but would he really have it any other way?
Bonus: What makes them feel loved and appreciated?
Barty Crouch: Planning
We all know this man could give a clock a run for its money. He appreciates nothing more than punctuality, apart from maybe the cricket. So, when he comes home one random day early in your relationship, at which point he’s moved you into his manor, to see you hanging up a new tie you’d bought for him, and you throw him a printed copy of a menu for the restaurant you insist you will be attending, his heart actually melts. You don’t have to plan everything, he is more than happy to do whatever share of organisation you want him to, but when you refuse? Gods… He’s done, he’s melted away.
Rufus Scrimgeour: Letters
The way to a man’s heart is his stomach, that much is known. So, how does one make their way to the heart of a serial chef? The written word, of course. He will not accept long, borderline hysterical adaptations of your devotion, no, but what he does find charming are little notes left about the place, especially when you put little misspellings, either by accident or (as he later discovers) on purpose. Just little tiny notes, whether it’s flowers and hearts, or a reminder to ‘not forget dog birthday’. In his desk drawers, on the door- Somehow you manage to get one inside his cigarette case.
Fenrir Greyback: Chaos
Chaos. Covered in blue paint cooking pancakes at 2am chaos. Because Fenrir is an inherently insane being who runs mostly on his own instinct and whatever the hell he wants to do. To any adjusted individual this is insane, but to a partner who also thrives on chaos? Perfection. If he wakes you up at 12am on a random Tuesday because he wants to make a roast chicken and doesn’t know which cupboard you put the seasoning in, and you go and get it? He’s smitten, even if you go immediately back to bed and curse him out the entire way back. He doesn’t care, he adores you now.
L.V: Domesticity
Really, the Dark Lord is the only one who actually cares about what you do with your life- Sure, with Igor you’re probably a teacher, and with Fenrir you are most likely the main provider for the house, but they don’t care.
But for a man whose entire brand revolves around tradition… He cares. It is important to him that you behave in the expected manner, and you cannot expect to have any functional relationship with him without this.
So, when you silently pop in and out of his office, with little treats and laundry, he knows you are complying to what he needs. Especially when you completely ignore him and whoever he is entertaining so he may work. He cannot feel love, but he feels something very close.
Igor Karkaroff: Snuggles
(I might make an entirely separate post based on this)
Igor suffers particularly badly from nightmares. There is no feasible way he wasn’t tracked down by the scrapes of Death Eaters left behind from the First War (remember, he was captured before the Lestranges, Barty Jr, etc.) and that must have affected him in some way.
Nothing proves to him you love him, really love him, more than shushing him and keeping him calm as his forearm burns and he can’t control his breathing. It is horrible to watch and even worse to experience, but such is the way of the Death Eaters.
Once he’s calmed down and probably taken something to relax a little, you can feel him rest his head on your chest. He’ll even let you braid his hair- But he’ll probably never tell you he likes it when you do…
I literally MELTED at the HPQD posts, never knew how much I needed that in my life... You are a genius. Since requests are open, please allow me to bother you with two for this wonderful and slightly problematic bumch of fine men.
S/O being officially introduced as their spouse. Like, how, when, how long it took, etc. Was it planned or just kinda happened? How many people picked up before that? :D All this delicious stuff
First romantic gestures. Like, how did the courting start, what was their approach to letting S/O know or romantic (or whatever Voldy has) intentions?
literally barking, i love this series so much

Part One- Courting
Includes their first romantic gesture, and how long it takes them to make a move.
Barty Crouch Sr- Awaiting Trial
Barty is the only one of the HPQD who has canonically been married, which puts him in a slightly awkward position when he comes across an eyebrow-raisingly potential partner. Now, given the slightly backward presentation of pureblood marriage (which we’ll get on to in a bit), it’s quite likely that Barty and Jr’s mother’s marriage was at least partially arranged. This means, of course, he has no idea how to go about trying to get a date with you- That, and you’re at least 25 years younger than him. How does he go about trying to court you, then? He waits for you to ask, like a true gentleman. You notice him being surprisingly gentle and cautious around you, bringing you little trinkets, at one point he sends Winky to you with a bouquet. You, of course, are not stupid, you understand his intentions. Just invite him over for coffee, for god’s sake- Maybe a nice bottle of red wine, if you’re feeling provocative.
First Romantic Gesture: You think it’s the mother-of-pearl button set he buys you after you casually mention needing new fastenings for your coat, he probably thinks it’s your first child.
Time from attraction to first move: A couple of months, at least. You’ll never really know. He’ll never admit it.
Rufus Scrimgeour- With Regards, The Minister
This mostly depends on whether or not Rufus is already Minister (or in the running for the position) when you meet. If he is, he’ll just use his impressive ministerial power to write you a nice invitation on some official stationary, probably with some vaguely romantic flower cutting attached. If he’s not, it doesn’t take that long to get an official-looking letter sent to you, complete with the Auror Office stamp. Rufus is an old fashioned gentleman, he makes his intentions very clear, and you’ll never spend a night wondering what a man wants ever again. If he’s looking for a long term relationship, he’ll tell you to your face- And he is, a short-term fling probably doesn’t look that good for a Minister, especially not with a much younger woman. The original Hinge profile tagger.
First Romantic Gesture: One (1) very polite letter inviting you to a semi-important ministerial gathering. Look hot, don’t bring a friend.
Time from attraction to first move: 2 weeks (give or take). He thinks it over before he asks you out. Please respond in a timely manner.
Fenrir Greyback- Kidnapping the Bride
Are you expecting something sweet and romantic? This man eats children, literally. Unless you are 100% willing to become a forest hermit, please don’t pet or feed the animal. Fenrir is not at all used to courting- He probably thinks you’re talking about sports. ‘Dating’ in his world translates to bringing pieces of animal and fur, and mind-blowing sex. It’s rugged, it’s simple. Practical, you might politely call it. The ultimate announcement of his wish to court you (which one can translate into his own version of marriage) is a live, pure-white bunny rabbit. He names it Strudel and is oddly attached. Please get Strudel an appropriate cage, though- Make it werewolf proof.
First Romantic Gesture: Lightly stolen gold artefact, you’ll never know where it came from. You’re pretty, it’s pretty- It made sense in his head.
Time from attraction to first move: Circa 3 minutes. To him, at least. You’re already his, just accept it.
Lord Voldemort- Chosen
Here we are back at the pureblooded marriage section. If you are in any way involved with LV, you are either pureblooded (mostly likely) or an exceptionally talented halfblood (probably not). You are raised in pureblood circles, and brought up to the possibility that at some point your entire courtship will be arranged. Every pureblood has their marriage formed for them, and some of them are even happy about it. When the Dark Lord asks for you, the Dark Lord will have you, and it is a beautiful thing to be chosen. He is oddly gentle with you, bringing you jewelled trinkets from far-off lands and asking for help with sorting artefacts, with writing notes. You are already perfect, you just don’t know it yet.
First Romantic Gesture: A quiet walk around the grounds on a summer day, where he makes his intentions more than clear.
Time from attraction to first move: However long it takes your mother to get you a table in a nice restaurant.
Igor Karkaroff- Gentle Pressure
Igor, as we all know, is the High Master of Durmstrang. Realistically, unless you have a summer fling, you are also a member of staff at Durmstrang. Igor doesn’t teach classes anymore, which begs the question- Does he do any actual work? When he starts wanting more from you than just polite nods during staff meetings, he will send many junior pupils after you with notes pretending he needs you in his office, with diamonds and rubies in envelopes. Just get a collection basket outside your room and a plate of cookies for Igor’s messenger pigeons. He’s desperate for your attention, he will appear when he knows you’re free. It is sweet when he gets flustered after actually trying to talk about his feelings.
First Romantic Gesture: Little Friedrich being sent on pilgrimage across the school with a mortgage payment’s worth of jewelry in a too-flimsy envelope. In person, it’s a single blue pen which ‘reminded him of your face’.
Time from attraction to first move: 1 week, 2 days and 17 hours (not that he’s counting). He likes how you’re feeding his message-boys, though, he might send you gifts that way for a long while yet.
Marriage (The Reveal)
Barty Crouch (Sr)- The Never-Tell
When the two of you get married it is a quiet affair. Sweet, meaningful, extremely private. Not a courthouse wedding by any means, but something small enough that very few people are aware of it- His coworkers assume he’s either on holiday or at a meeting.
The two of you agree not to bring it up. Your ring is worn on your middle finger (you might even have a deliberate ‘work-safe’ wedding ring), and many just assume he starts wearing a wedding band again out of habit. It is known that you are married, but not to whom. He doesn’t work here, you say, not technically untrue.
You, with your theatrical ways, make a big show of revealing your husband at your next milestone birthday party. Glasses are shattered, gasps are audible. People who have worked with you for years never even imagined- It likely ends up in the newsletter that week. Bonus points if you can get him in one of those fake prop cakes.
Rufus Scrimgeour- Quiet Knowledge
Your marriage to Rufus is encased in precision and function. You are married quickly, with just enough fanfare he gets to see you in a pretty tiara and take you on an expensive honeymoon. Obviously, with him doing Minister-related tasks, you appear frequently at galas and dinners, and whatever else is expected of you. It becomes more of an accepted fact that the Minister has a much younger wife, and no-one is going to fight Rufus over it. No, he is a well-known, stoic war minister, and it is not worth the hassle.
The first time you casually bring up your marriage, whoever is listening simply shrugs their shoulders and asks if he’s ‘like that at home’. He is, sometimes, but most of the time he’s actually quite nice.
Fenrir Greyback- Borat Impression
Listen, you’re not getting a huge wedding. You might not even get a wedding- Not because he doesn’t want to marry you, but because he genuinely forgot you weren’t married. Not only is Fenrir proud you’re his wife. He is insanely proud you’re his wife. You know that scene in the first Borat movie- You know the one- That’s him. If you are in any way involved with the Death Eaters, your relationship is impossible to hide. He grins at you, he listens to what you say, you become the official Fenrir Tamer. The Death Eaters handle it, but only because they’re worried you’ll have him eat their faces off.
There isn’t even really an official introduction of your marriage, it just appears one day. No-one dares to question it, especially not with 7 feet of furred muscle towering over you. Just promise not to set him on them, and it’ll be fine.
Lord Voldemort- Publicity Stunt
Is a marriage with LV in any way healthy? No. But it is pretty glamorous. Your wedding is as much as you want it to be- It needs to be public, but he’s happier to have a quiet, official ceremony if you wish it. You become a public figure- You are the public figure of postwar magical Britain, and aren’t you good at it? He simply adores how you behave with him, how well you handle his events, even if you are doing nothing but being yourself. If you somehow manage to get to 2020 without a military coup, you’ll probably make a lot of money making a TikTok account about your life- Just don’t tell LV what a ‘TikTok’ is. Let him think you’re talking to the clocks.
Obviously, it becomes noticeable when the two of you get married, but you aren’t especially ‘unveiled’ until after the War. It’s just not safe for you. He does pretend to feel a little bad about hiding you away for several years, though. Personally, I’d guilt a pony out of him.
Igor Karkaroff- …
The two of you are married traditionally and with limited guests, a summer wedding and weeks of simply existing together before you return to school in September. You rent out a cottage somewhere quiet and cool, and do exactly what you might imagine two newlyweds in the country would do. Your marriage is generally hidden, and you are therefore subject to what can be summarised as a ‘shipping war’- The majority of your students become convinced you’re married to one of the very young Physical Education coaches, who are just as uncomfortable about the situation as you are. It is announced on the last day of your last day of teaching, having wandered around hinting about babies the majority of the school year- Whether or not you are actually having one is irrelevant. You still live on the grounds with Igor, and make it very clear he is your beloved. Riots ensue, and it is perfect.
Barty Crouch Sr slander is NOT tolerated here thank you. If you think trying to stop your fascist son from doing war crimes is bad then oh well boohoo 👍
so as part of my hp marathon i watched goblet of fire last night and i honestly think that if you believe that Barty Crouch Sr didn't care about his son/ was abusive you need to go and rewatch that movie
like dumbledore literally says "it's destroyed him, (sending barty jr to azkaban) but he had to do it because the evidence was overwhelming"
(that's not a direct quote but you get me)

+2 points for cosiness.
why barty sr started neglecting barty
barty: why does mommy wear makeup

Rita: Certain personalities are attracted to certain professions.
Dumbledore: Do you know what professions psychopaths disproportionately gravitate to?
Rita: Alchemists, Unspeakables, the staff of Hogwarts...
Dumbledore: Number five on the list is Healers.
Rita: I know the list.
Moody: Well then, you know what number six is.
Rita: Journalists. Know what number seven is, Mad-Eye?
Moody: ...Law enforcement.
Rita: Here we are, a bunch of psychopaths helping each other out.
something i think about is probably how Mrs. Crouch tried convincing Barty that his father isn't so bad by telling her son about the man she married but instead, it just solidified Barty's belief that everything went to shit when he came along.
offically coming out as a Barty Crouch Senior supporter cause what the fuck would you have done if your son helped torture two people into insanity, escaped prison by switching places with your sick wife and kept going on about how he was going to find the dark lord who was responsible for multiple murders and worst up and down the country and rejoin his cause?????
EXACTLY
Сначала я почти не переделывал на своих рисунках Крауча-старшего. Тупо срисовывал его с актёра, который его в фильме сыграл... но потом что-то в мой мозг стрельнуло и-и-и "родилось" вот это 👇🏻
the crouch family
Interesting that when discussing morally complex characters in Harry Potter, people focus on Snape and Dumbledore and even Sirius to a certain extent, but never to possibly the true king of grey morality: Bartemius Crouch Sr.
Throws Sirius in jail without a trial. But suspended trials for the sake of getting Death Eaters off the streets quickly. But condemned his own son to that same cruelty. But broke him out of Azkaban on his wife’s request. But keeps him imprisoned in the house under Imperius for FOURTEEN YEARS. But also makes sure he gets to go to the Quidditch World Cup because Junior loves Quidditch. What the actual fuck?
Far more interesting than Snape “everyone can die except for the one woman I love” and Dumbledore “being a general means treating people like pawns sometimes”.
An interdepartmental memo fluttered down the aisles between cubicles. Many of the witches and wizards who worked for the law department office were filing away the day’s work, eager to get home.
Not Barty Crouch.
The Head of the Law Department sat at his desk, buried in a stack of papers that towered over him.
The memo picked up speed as it approached and bumped insistently into his head. Bartemius Crouch snatched it out of the air and read the words scrawled across the slip of paper.
Instigators of Longbottom attack apprehended.

Crouch Jr.: [to Crouch Sr.] How can you speak 150 languages and still sound like a git in every one of them?
one of the darkest parts of the harry potter series is what happened with barty crouch jr's mother. we know she took his place in azkaban, and died one year later according to sirius. but also according to sirius, "he was screaming for his mother by night-fall."
so barty courch jr's mother was screaming for her mother.
