Song: Ways to be Wicked - 10/10

Noticed how Ben is the only character not in Ways to be Wicked and i'm going to take that as Mal not even being able to imagine Ben being bad

Paps at the school is just another reason why Ben shouldn't be King at such a young age

I like that the girls room looks so much more like their own in this film

I'm taking note that it's been six months (or so) since the end of the first movie

Evie has matured so much since the last film and i love it. She really is the best version of herself because she's in Auradon

I've also taken note of the fact that the bowl thing with Maleficent in it is next to Evie's bed and not Mals (or Im assuming it's Evie's because of how blue it is)

Everything that the rotten four has that's branded in assuming Evie's made for them and it warms my heart every time i notice them

Jane and Carlos are my favourite cannon ship THEYRE SO CUTE

Also Jane has gotten significantly more confident since the last film and I kinda wish we got to see that development for her but we've only got so many movies so i'll let it slide

I love Mals blonde hair i cant lie

and honestly even with the blonde hair and different style to try to fit in Mal still acts more in character here then she does in Descendants 3

I cant decide if Evie put the idea of wanting to be king in Chads head or if it's just something they're trying to convince me that he wants and I have to be honest, Chads obsession with being King in this movie makes no sense. If Chad really wanted to be king (so badly that later he's brushing pass the fact that Ben might die because it might make it next in like for the throne) then surely the time to voice it and do something would've been the last movie when the throne was being passed down and Ben was making a really risky decision that a lot of people didn't agree with. If Chad really wanted to be king he should've been sabotaging the shit out of the VKs joining Auradon but he didn't. (he didn't like it but he didn't do anything to put of pocket about it)

The idea of the other royal families having a problem with Ben being King and the kids of the other Kings and Queens wanting the throne makes sense (especially since Beast was elected and Ben was not) and it could've been really interesting but it just doesn't make sense for Chad here

Neither does him being held up on Audrey. He was clearly a rebound and they never even interacted while they were together

I think my main issue with Chad in this film is that they clearly just didn't know what to do with him (or Doug, Jane or possibly even Lonnie) but they had to include them because they're already existing characters that fans have grown to know and I think Chad gets the worst of it in this film

I know it will come into play later on in the film but it's a pet peeve of mine when in one film/season all of the characters are playing one sport and then in the next the same characters are playing a completely different sport. Is it normal in America to have the same group of guys be apart of every sports team?

Evie and Doug are still the cutest

I would say that from what we know about Cinderella and Prince Charming in this universe it would make sense for Chad to be so hung up on the rules as to deny Lonnie a place because it says the team should be men. But he clearly just doesn't want her on the team because she's a girl which makes no sense since our introduction to Chloe was her sword fighting with her dad (and she brings a sword like everywhere) (this isn't THIS movies fault because we haven't met Chloe yet but I'm still going to point it out)

And Chad being mean to Lonnie when they were friends in the first film (they literally were dance partners during set it off) i just love attention to details and with Chad there is none

incase you can't tell I have a lot of problems with how Chad is portrayed in this film (it gets worse in Descendants 3)

The importance of a 3D printer in this movie is baffling to me

I love having a scene with just Mal and Carlos in it

Also Mal checking that Carlos wants to take the gummy and warning him before giving it to him i am taking as a protective Mal moment

and now the dog can talk😞

THE SEA THREE ARE HERE!!!!!!!!!

I will give Descendants writers their flowers the daughter of Ursula and son of Hook being friends is SO BRILLIANT

Don't get me wrong I love the sea three as a trio but Gill has done nothing but piss Uma (and therefore Harry) off since they came on screen😭 how are they still friends with him?

Ben acting shocked at finding the blonde hair spell is so confusing to me. Bro did you think her hair just naturally started growing blonde?

Like I understand that the good guys have natural coloured hair so it's Mals way of fitting in but surely Ben must've known that she used magic for it or is there like propaganda in Auradon saying that the better you are the more natural your hair colour will grow??

Ben is better then me cause I would not have been putting up with Mal after she tried to erase his memory. HOW DO YOU TRUST SOMEONE AFTER THAT? and that's ontop of the love spell from the last movie!!! You are a King, how are you trusting someone who tried to erase your memory at the first sign of conflict to be the future Queen???

I do love Mal and Ben together but this moment just leaves me flabbergasted

I love Mals arch in this movie. it's so realistic that after once ruling the Isle (and enjoying it) she would struggle with letting all that power (and what she views as fun) behind

correct me if i'm wrong but when Mal takes Maleficent back to the Isle shouldn't the magic have worn off and she would've been a human again (similar to what happened with Mal in the third film?)

also cant get over how we never see Maleficent again after this

the rotten fours hideout is SO COOL AND I LOVE IT!!!!!

The little kids trying to mug Evie is one of my favourite moments I LOVE HER DEVELOPMENT AND HER IN THIS FILM REALISING THAT SHE NEEDS TO HELP THE OTHER KIDS GET OFF THE ISLE TOO

Ben has zero aura in this film

and Ben just wondering off THIS GUY HAS NO SURVIVAL SKILLS😭

I read somewhere once (it was during the Titanic submarine situation with those billionaires) that the Kennedy family had so many bad things happen to them because people with a lot of privilege and power just walk around life thinking nothing bad could happen to them because they've never truly struggled and Ben is proving this theory right in this film. He's been way too sheltered

Harry barks at Carlos and it's the same thing that Maleficent did at the end of the first film and I love the consistency of people from the Isle just barking at Carlos to try to scare him because in the past just barking would've been enough to make him flinch (i also think Jay does it at the start of the first film also)

Appreciation moment for Harry because I love him

THE BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN MAL AND UMA IS BRILLIANT

Umas the best villain in the series

Lonnie going with the boys to the Isle is such a "square plug in a triangle hole" situation but it works. Lonnie is the daughter of Mulan so ofc she'd insist on helping even if she's completely out of place. I actually love this for her

I LOVE UMAS CHARACTER AND I LOVE THAT SHES MAD!!!!!! she has every right to hate Ben and Auradon for leaving her and everyone else behind

In Its Going Down Mal refers to herself and the others as "The VKs" despite the fact that technically Uma has more VKs on her side. This is the biggest evidence I have for my theory/hc that the term VK was started by the Auradon kids to refer to the rotten four as a group. At this point they are the only VKs so Mal uses it almost as a gang name for them

To add onto this I do think that at this point the rotten four do refer to everyone else as AKs (Mal tells Evie she's an Auradon girl) but then after the barrier is broken down the AKs start being referred to as HKs because now they're technically all living in Auradon

Two things with the wand. 1) Technically shouldn't Dude not be able to talk anymore because magic doesn't work on the Isle? and 2) the wand shouldn't work on the Isle and Mal and Uma both know that there's no magic there so how is Uma expecting the wand to work when with the barrier?

Gill telling Ben to tell his mom that his dad said hi indicates to me that Gill told Gaston that Bens on the Isle. I'm now hcing that Gill and Gaston regularly gossip together

Mal is about to get away but Uma still turns back to help Harry without a second thought I LOVE THEM

ROTTEN FOUR GIRL TALK I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!!!

Evie's character arc in this film is the standout for me and why she has always been my favourite character. She thrives in Auradon and in this movie she learns that it isn't just her who deserves this. I love that she's the one who stands up for the VKs the most

I have read the first Isle of the Lost book and although I remember next to nothing about it I do remember that Jay and Mal were the first out of the rotten four to become friends so I loveeeeee that Jay and Mal have a moment here when Jay says he'll drive her back to the Isle himself

Also having Carlos in his fencing uniform because he would've just gotten out of practice is a nice attention to detail considering Carlos doesn't speak in the practice scene because Cameron wasn't there to film (I do also love that they put in another attention to detail to have someone step in for Carlos when usually they could've just left him out of that scene altogether considering he has no lines)

Auradon needs to step up their game cause how is the crown that Chad made using a 3D printer look the exact same as the actual crown (it wouldn't even surprise me if it was the same prop they were using)

I still hate Chads storyline in this film btw

I do love his outfit tho but the cape is a bit too much

I've never spoken of my love for Fairy Godmother yet but I need it to be known that I adore her

I love Mals hair in the plat

UMA LOOKS SO PRETTY idk who made her dress but they deserve a raise

AND NOW MAL YOU KNOW HOW AUDREY FELT (i love Mal i promise i do but this is a different type of karma)

I'm going to assume that Uma was telling the truth when she said she dove through the barrier and swam to Auradon so that we don't have another plot hole of magic working on the Isle (for some reason as a kid i always thought she was lying)

I gotta give props to this third act because I remember watching it as a kid and being gagged

Robin Hood is a very interesting character to include in Descendants (well. I guess his son, mainly) due to the big emphasis on "morality" and being a VK/AK(or...HK. for some reason). like. when you think about it he's pretty nuanced?

He steals but, y’know, gives to the poor. In a world that’s SO divisive on morality, I wish they delved into that a bit more?? Like. How is Robin Hood viewed? Is he seen as more of a hero or villain? Or does it depend on where the person grew up? Honestly, this would’ve tied in with the themes of the original trilogy a lot I feel.

I know generally speaking he's usually seen as a heroic-type, but he is actively stealing. idk i really want to know what they did with him lol

during "get your hands dirty" in rise of red Chloe and Ella talk about Robin Hood and Chloe basically says she thinks he's great because he stole for the poor and Ella uses that as an reason for seeing more great areas so I imagine the majority of HKs have the same viewpoint as Chloe that because he stole for the poor he is still technically a hero

Ik that it's called the "United States of Auradon" because America but let's be so real it should be "The United Kingdom's of Auradon" since they never refer to the other kingdoms as states

Mal in the beginning said that Auradon was created "more like 20 years ago" and I remember that is ROR Uma said that Auradon was created 30 years ago. Does this mean that is been 10 years in between the first and fourth film?

Do they never explain why Ben is becoming king at 16? Like Beast seems perfect fit to continue ruling so why is he giving the throne to Ben when he isn't even out of school yet????

THE ROTTEN FOUR WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVOURITE QUAD!!!!! (also side note i remember back when this film came out it was the first time i had ever heard the term "core four" and thought that the term was exclusively theirs cause yknow rotten to the CORE)

Maleficent, Evil Queen, Jafar and Curella are hilarious and i really wish we got more of them together

20 minuets in and there's already inconsistencies compared to ROR. Ben says that Auradon Prep was build 300 years ago but was converted into a high school by Beast when he became King. So no Merlín Academy (tho that never made sense. more on that when i rewatch ROR tho)

Doug not being able to name all of his uncles is killing me

Also only just now realising that technically Doug's dad killed Evie's mum

The boys dorm is so much better then the girls😭 (and in pretty sure their beds are bigger too)

First night and Carlos already has a personalised pillow on his bed (im hcing that Evie made it for him)

EVIES OUTFITS ARE SO CUTEEEEE and i also love how her hair is darker in this film then it is in the later ones. it just seems more realistic

Carlos' main flaw that he has to overcome just being that he's afraid of dogs is so unserious. Someone said that he should've been really materialistic and i couldn't agree more

Also with Dude being the schools dog I feel bad for the other students. Imagine the students who have known Dude for time looking for him only to find out that Ben gave him to Curellas son and he's not giving him back😭 I love Carlos but I can't lie i'd be pissed

The Rotten four are such "come as a set, do not separate" vibes JAY WENT STRAIGHT TO THE GIRLS ROOM AFTER HE MADE THE TEAM AND CARLOS WAS ALREADY THERE

Noticed how when Mal was offering Ben the cookie she refers to herself as a "kids of villains" instead of a VK. This helps my hc/theory that the term "VK" only started being used by the HKs when Mal, Jay, Evie and Carlos started as a way to refer to the four of them and then when all of the villain kids joined Auradon they needed something to call the kids of the hero's so started calling the HKs. That's why we only hear them using it in Wicked Wonderland.

Still on the cookie scene. WHY IS DOUG JUST CASUALLY STANDING THERE BEHIND EVIE AND CARLOS WATCHING THE WHOLE THING??? mind your own business, we're being evil over here😭

Now getting your current girlfriend to lead to school in spelling out the name of the girl you're leaving her for is FOUL and Audrey in this film deserves so much better

I know they're not going to spend a lot on extra costumes but i wish they had a little more personality. they're supposed to be kids of disney characters too but they all dress so plainly

Im treating Evie holding Dude as if she was holding Carlos' literal child. That's Auntie Evie as far as Im concerned

Queen Leah causing problems for no reason. There's no way she didn't know this was happening

Also low-key this is Chads best scene and one that I have to keep coming back to whenever I need to defend him. He was talking straight facts i cant lie. Chad and Audreys problem is that they don't believe that the VKs can change - that's where they're wrong, but they're not wrong about the VKs upbringings or their current personalities/morals

This scene with Leah also shows us Audrey's side with why she wouldn't want the VKs there either. It's nice to actually see the HKs perspective but it kinda gets ruined in the very next scene when they're back to being dicks

AND AGAIN WITH CARLOS HAVING NO ACTUAL BAD TRAITS TO THE POINT WHERE CHAD HAS NOTHING BAD TO SAY ABOUT HIM!! he doesn't even get involved in the fight😭 i fear they made Carlos too good

Doug, Lonnie and Jane turned against the VKs because of what they did to Chad and I would call this some nice character/subtle relationship building if we literally ever saw them interact again. Like these guys essentially grew up together

Also Jane coming up to the table and making fun of Mal was probably the first time Carlos ever properly heard her talk and it's kinda breaking my heart

Also while I have Jane and Chad in the same area I will take this moment to say I wish we had a scene of them two together. Maybe Chad being nice to Jane when no one else was or even him warning her about the VKs after Mal does her hair??? Like are you really telling me that Cinderellas son and the Fairy Godmothers daughter don't have a really close bond???

I overall just love the family day stuff because there's so much CHARACTER in it and the characters are the main thing that draws me to this series

Snow White coming for Jane's hair is just rude wtf😭 we are live and you're going after a CHILDS physical appearance. It doesn't even look bad i think her hairs so cute

i have many many favourite ships so here are three for you (my fave mlm wlm and wlw)

Wolfstar (Remus Lupin & Sirius Black)

I don't talk about them enough but they are my faves

I see Sirius being taller then Remus and will take it to my grave (for me Remus is like maybe half a head shorter)

Honestly with wolfstar how i see them is nothing special but just not alike to how many see them today. I've very attached to how they were portrayed in 2018-2021. Remus is a more introverted one who takes school very seriously while Sirius is the more rebellious one who doesn't have to try with school but still gets top grades

i hc that they got together during their fourth year and remained together throughout the war (though what was mostly stopping them from breaking up was the fact that they were hardly in the same room during the war)

Edgarline (Edgar Bones & Emmeline Vance)

My actual babies, nobody comes close to them

i've written many things about them but this is my most detailed one

I hc Emmeline to be a Ravenclaw in the same year as the Marauders and Edgar is a Hufflepuff in the year above

In my hcs they get together at the end of Emmelines sixth year and Edgars seventh but they break up during August/September of 1981 and then Edgar dies

they're very cute but very doomed and i will defend them to my grave

idk what it is about them that makes it so hard for me to imagine. I think I just see them both as very introverted people with completely different views on life. i also think Snupin is highly underrated. Personally i do ship them but only in an au, as far as cannon goes i don't think they ever became friends but i do have a hc about them which i love

In my hcs after the first war Dumbledore sends Severus, Remus, Emmeline Vance and Gilderoy Lockhart to New York to help MCSCA prevent a Voldemort similar upraising happening there.

as said before i don't think they ever became friends but they had some sort of mutual respect for each other to get the job done. for me Severus and Remus are just two guys who will never like each other but has to get along because their lives keep pushing them together. During the 80s they had mutual friends and obviously in 1993/4 they were both working at Hogwarts
