Gnaw

The sound of a mouse chewing throughout the night. Kept me up. Annoying. In the morning I checked the trap to find a mouse was stuck by his leg and was trying to chew it off. (He was chewing the wrong leg but still) it was so sad. This whole time I heard him chewing.. he was choosing his leg over his life. I felt so self minded. I could either finish him off or free him. And when I put him outside and released the trap, he squealed. Not knowing im the reason he was hurt. Maybe to say thank you, or the pain had flooded his nerves with the release. Sad. He seemed ok as he scurried off. Emotion struck. Was quick. And then i reset the trap like a psychotic lunatic who didnt experience any emotion. I hate this
