I feel really... lonely every time I come on here. Which is entirely my own fault, I’m not here enough to connect with people, but it kind of sucks. Ironic, too, since I allow that loneliness to stop me coming on here when I can, when I want to, and then it’s just - a vicious cycle that I put myself into.

Apparently part of that cycle is making weird posts about it because I don’t feel comfortable talking to anyone about it.

It wasn’t the worst place Remus had ever lived. Not the smallest, or the dirtiest, or the ugliest. It wasn’t even in the worst part of town. It had more than one window, a bathroom with a tub, and even a charming little bay window.

That bar, however, was set fairly low, and that didn’t change the fact that the flat was small, and dirty, and the hideous paisley wallpaper was peeling in several places. But the price was right, and split two ways, it was the lowest rent Remus had managed to find after weeks of looking for alternatives. Having a roommate, with his condition, was far from the ideal situation, and it was probably only a matter of time before she caught on. But Mary was an old friend from school, and a member of the Order; not only was she already used to his monthly vanishing act, there would be no need to cover up being gone on missions for days at a time on top of that. 

“Well… Welcome home?” Standing in the doorway, bags in hand and trunks piled behind them, it sure didn’t feel like home. But maybe they could change that, with a little unpacking and a few personal touches. “Which room do you want?”

When she was a kid, Mary always dreamt of what her future would look like. Before the age of eleven, she was determined to become a comic book writer. As the years progressed, she entertained the idea of being an astronomer – but considering her education, that would have been difficult. Introducing magic into her life had changed everything, and while she once wanted to do something with charms, she found herself working in a bookstore.

Not ideal, far from it; it left her with little money to get by on, but all things considered, it was the best she could do. The Order took up too much of her time to take on anything serious, and she wasn’t sure she could handle a proper career with her mind always occupied and far away. All of that put her here – standing in an apartment, Remus at her side, knowing this is where they now lived.

It wasn’t great. Far from it – but it was home, as he so stated. They could make it work. Already she could see herself reading whenever she couldn’t sleep (most nights) by the bay window, and the wallpaper could be fixed up. A bit of time, a bit of magic; it would be fine.

“Welcome home,” she echoed back, looking over to give him an encouraging smile. To make sure he knew that as bleak as it may be, she was determined to look on the bright side. That wasn’t the easiest thing to do with the lives they were leading, but with this apartment, it was possible. “The one by the kitchen, if you don’t mind? It has the better view of the sky,” which was her priority, “but yours will be bigger.”

perhaps, they had more in common than they PREVIOUSLY thought.  he was – naturally an INTROVERT. his attention span often slacked or became SOAKED up by his fascination of his friends'  need for trouble. but he admired nature. his digits often TAINTED with the colours of the rainbow from his paintings, clothes that were a little overly large because he liked dressing for comfort – and he might’ve felt a little INSECURE in his own skin.

 he opted to disguise his CLEVERNESS by remaining timid. but food was  ALWAYS on his mind. he yearned for lunch and dinner, and breakfast. or any snack or sweet he might’ve been carrying at the time. 

“ that’s a BRILLIANT idea. though I  doubt they’d ever go for it, “ the slightest of frowns tugs at his lips as he followed suit towards the staircase and BEYOND. 

upon sneaking into the kitchens ( after tickling the fruit in the portrait  ) a quick glance lands on her, before the frown he previously wore is replaced with a gentle smile. “ – sounds like a plan. “ the idea of sitting at the way way top of the astronomy tower as the sun ROSE, was something admittedly, he’d not thought of. 

Mary would never look at someone frowning and find that it brought about a smile; she had never been one to revel in the misfortune of others. Granted, there were times when she struggled with it – after what had happened to her, moments in time had passed where she found herself wanting terrible things to happen to someone. Specific people, but people none the less. Those were the moments she tried to not look back on, to not focus on.

They weren’t her. She wouldn’t let them be.

Other than that, though – she enjoyed making other people smile, not the opposite. Yet when Peter’s lips turned down, she couldn’t help but lift hers up a bit. Not due to his lack of happiness at the statement, but just the idea that he agreed with her. A brilliant idea.

She vehemently agreed.

“Unfortunately not – they’re really stuck in their ways here.” The whole castle gave off an air of tradition, a place where things didn’t change. That’s the way it was done; that is the way it would always be done. Comforting to some, perhaps. To her?

She just wanted her dessert.

Entering the kitchen, her face lit up for two reasons. First, the familiar face that greeted her. “Hello Pitts!” The elf who knew her far too well, who knew exactly why she was here. It had taken awhile for him to warm up to her, he was one of the stricter ones working in the kitchen, but Mary got there eventually. He greeted her with the same warmth, and it just made her all the happier to have gone down there.

Second, Peter’s agreement once more to what she had said; and the smile that went along with it. “Fantastic. I’m always up there alone, it’ll be nice to have company for once.”

i just wanna preface this with i’ve been on this site for a while now, and i’ve quit so many times, i never really thought it’d be something i’d still be doing. thank you to all the people who continuously support and uplift me. you guys are all amazing, in every way imaginable.

hannah  / @quietvs @moonwolved @paddyfeet when i first met you, i was writing remus lupin, and i had just sort of ventured into writing canon characters. and you were writing teddy lupin, but i remember bonding over hot pockets ? anyway, you’re just as amazing and funny as you were back then, i’m glad to have you as a friend <3  

aura  / @devoutconfidence we just met not that long ago, but you have got to be one of the KINDEST people i’ve ever met on this site. thank you for chatting with me and writing with me, i can only hope we remain friends for a while.
