The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve.
Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.
If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.
Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.
This is just the beginning. More changes are coming as we keep building this out – stay tuned!
We rolled out a significant change to how notes work on reblogs, and the reaction has been strong. We're not going to pretend otherwise.
First things first: We're reversing the change. Your feedback in comments, emails, and especially reblogs, made clear that the rollout created problems we need to address before moving forward. We also should have communicated this differently from the start, and we didn't.
We still believe there's a better version of how reblogs can work. One that gives every voice in a chain the credit it deserves. But we want to get there with you.
In the coming days we'll share more on how we plan to do that, including ways to work directly with some of you on this and future changes before they ship.
Well shucks, this new feature sucks, especially for the creatives here on tumblr (including artists like myself.)
Please know I'm still grateful for every like, reblog, and comment, but I'll probably not get to see them now. If you'd like, I have no problems with being tagged or DMed so I can see comments and ideas!
Interaction and feedback is often how I judge what to post and what to sell as prints, now it's even more of a guessing game for me. Don't be afraid to reach out!

It is with a heavy heart that I must share that my cat, Indy, who has been at the focus of my journey creating and selling art, had to be euthanized today.
Indy always struggled with health issues including an autoimmune disorder, a temperament disorder, and - in his late life - kidney failure. It has been one of the hardest things I've experienced to watch him slowly deteriorate as he got older and his illness progressed, but his zeal for life and continued excitement at food, play, and walks have made it all worth it.
Additionally, thanks to treatments and special food - of which many were paid for completely or in part by proceeds from my sales - his vet estimates that we were able to give him an extra year of quality life.
Indy was my first pet, an has been a constant companion for 16 years. I grew up alongside him and he has been there for me through school, graduation, and the onset of my own illness.
I'm not sure how to move forward from here, but I would like to extend a massive thank you to everyone here who has supported my art and contributed to sales. Not only have you relieved a financial burden, but I can now look back on this little community as just another way Indy has touched my life.
Indy hated being photographed (i swear he can sense cameras) but here are a few I managed to snag during some of our last hangouts together:
But I would really prefer everyone remember him like this:
Lastly, I'm going to be taking an indefinite break from art. I need time to process this and adjust to my new life without him.
so turns out if you watch Coraline and Paranorman bc it's Spooky Season you're also legally mandated to watch Kubo and the Two Strings as well (don't fact check me on this)
