Helldivers are Wizards
Something I don't think anyone's notice is how the Helldivers Stratagem minigame, or something adjacent to it, would be incredible as a spellcasting mechanic.
Think about it. The fantasy of a combat wizard involves not only knowing what spells to use, but being able to concentrate on the exact invocation, gestures, and components to bring them to life in a pitched battle. Games typically handle this by either having no casting times that feel weightless, having long, fixed casting times that feel sluggish, or by putting the magic-user in a party where you're not waiting on them to complete their casting animation.
In Helldivers, on the other hand, you're wizards. You've got basic cantrips that can take on weaker enemies, but when you see a tougher target, you're going to need to recall your incantation and cast it quickly to wipe out the horde of enemies with a fireball in the midst of a heated battle. (Except, instead of cantrips you have guns, and instead of a fireball you're calling in an Eagle to drop a 500kg bomb).
Video game spellcasting in general needs this sort of mechanic to feel like spellcasting.
