The day was September 11th. The year, 2020. I gazed out my window, overlooking the vast city of Philadelphia. Wildfires are decimating the Pacific Northwest. There’s been protests, demonstrations, and riots against police brutality throughout the entire country. Over 100 consecutive nights of protest in Portland. The world is being ravaged by an infectious pandemic that has lasted over 8 months, and continues to affect every aspect of our daily lives. The United States alone has clocked over 6 million cases and almost a quarter of a million deaths.
In this moment, I take a bite of my Travis Scott burger from McDonalds. I turn on Spotify and play “LOCKED UP PT. 2 (feat. Akon)” from 6ix9ine’s brand new album “TattleTales”. I pick up my Playstation controller and boot up Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2.
“It’s Lit”, I softly remark to myself. Never Forget.

I’m taking time each day to do some reflection in writing, which I feel has been a therapeutic practice. I’ve also been trying to spend some time in Photoshop; making collages, experimenting, trying to harness this creative surge I’ve been experiencing.
I really want to become proficient with different kinds of software (AfterEffects, C4D, etc.) so that I can feel capable of translating my ideas into something tangible. The predicament is that I find myself with an abundance of inspiration, but I lack the ability to render, animate, and execute my ideas without feeling inhibited by a lack of skillset.
Between the writing and the software, I should have enough of a creative outlet for the moment. However, I also want to get back into the habit of reading in my spare time. I just need to find a quality book to kick off my resurgence into the world of literature; I think I’ll start off with some of Stephen King’s short stories.

It seems that I haven’t been active on here since June 2014. That’s over six years ago that I stopped regularly using this platform. That was around when I completed my freshman year at college; I guess constantly checking & updating my tumblr just didn’t matter to me as much once I had gotten settled into the city.
Anyhow, I doubt I’ll ever go back to using this platform regularly. It seems blatant that this website passed its prime years ago; but I’ll still most likely check it occasionally. I spent so much time curating my page when I was younger, arguably more than I even spent on Myspace back in the day. Despite how this platform seems to age without grace, it will always have a degree of nostalgic allure.
