not so gentle reminder that academia belongs to the queer, the weary, the women, the people of color, the poor, the ill just as much as it does the rich, the white, the privileged. if your academia isn't accessible, i don't want it.

Just because your feelings are valid, this doesn't mean that every possible reaction to them is. Yes, it's okay to be angry - but it's not okay to take it out on someone by breaking their stuff. Yes, it's okay to be jealous - but it's not okay to sabotage relationships. Yes, it's okay to want attention - but it's not okay to lie to get it. And so on. Your feelings are always valid, but you still have a responsibility for how you choose to express them.
*ships m/f couples but in an un-mistakably bisexual way*
*ships m/f couples but in an un-mistakably transgender way*
*ships m/f couples but in an un-mistakably asexual way*
other unpopular opinions: i think a little gender crisis is healthy, even if u end up deciding ur cis. i think more people should have the “oh jeez what AM i” experience. i just think a gender and/or sexuality crisis should be mandated as part of the teen experience. i think that would make us more compassionate, as a culture.
thinking about how orpheus turning to look back at eurydice isn’t a sign of mortal frailness but a sign of love
“Eurydice, dying now a second time, uttered no complaint against her husband. What was there to complain of, but that she had been loved?” ― Ovid, Metamorphoses
Y’all hate feminine Nb people so much, it’s so obvious
Nb person: *wears skirts, has long hair, has large chest, does traditional feminine things*
Y’all: what if... we ignored you... and used incorrect pronouns for you...
It’s the same for masculine nb people too... y’all just hate nb people who aren’t androgynous
Anyways if ur nb and you don’t dress androgynous, I love you. This goes for he/him nbs who dress feminine and she/her nb who dress masculine as well. Also to gender fluid nb people who only dress one way.
If you are a transmeds and you reblog this, I’m grinding your bones to dust, this isn’t for you.
umm i don’t think it’s really spoken about much but i think we should normalise bisexuals being inexperienced with a particular gender. we don’t have to ‘keep it even’ to be bisexual and it’s okay if you haven’t experienced anything with a particular gender :)
someone mentioned in their tags that we should also be normalising having no experience with anyone, & i think that’s an important addition to this post !! that is definitely okay and valid too :)
Non-black people need to understand what being an ally truly means because they are still not getting it. Allyship isn’t entitlement to black-created spaces or do/say whatever to black people in those spaces. Allyship isn’t a journey to enlightenment and betterment of oneself at the expense of black people. Allyship isn’t permission to speak over black people or dictate what issues that black people should or shouldn’t focus on. Allyship isn’t a means to get rewards or praise from black people. Allyship is helping black people, fighting for their liberation, and dismantling white supremacist/colorist systems that harm them. If you’re a non-black person and you cannot understand that, then you’re doing something wrong.
A person with an abusive nature will always register you standing up for yourself as an act of betrayal. Betray them.
This is so important. As a good person, you may choose to stick around to prove to someone that you’re not a bad person. You have nothing to prove to a bad person. You cannot help everyone. You cannot fix everyone. It’s not your fault.
things i realized in therapy:
i am allowed to be angry with people when they hurt me, even if they are sensitive and cant cope well with being told they did something wrong. their sensitivity does not mean i have to bottle up my feelings & their lack of coping skills does not make me expressing my anger abusive.
shocking, i know. truly shocking.
Once you become a certain age, it is your responsibility to unlearn behaviors that hinder your growth as a person.
Man I cannot stress this enough. The “this is how I am, take it or leave it” attitude is an act of immaturity. We all have toxic traits that we need to work on and as an adult it’s our responsibility to recognize the damage that they can do to the ones we love. We all need to put in more effort in becoming better individuals.
big facts
cis people are having a little too much fun with the “all enbies listen to mother mother” and “all enbies have stupid weird names” jokes
(if i made add) kinda like how cis people are getting a little too comfortable making jokes about how trans guys all have the same names or making fun of how they try to act masc…
(if i may also add) cis people are also getting a little too loosey goosey about “all trans girls’ goals are anime catgirls” and “trans girls all want headpats” jokes….
(if i may add) cis people are using jokes intended to be used by trans people a little too much
(if i may add) this behavior exactly mirrors the stupid lesbian, uwu small gay, useless bisexual jokes, where cis/het people appropriate our coping mechanisms just a little too much, and twist them around to derogatorize and shame us
i know i and so many other bi ppl have said this time and time again but really no one cares abt bisexuals but bisexuals and no one wants to change that it seems
erasure of our identity is deemed “discourse”. we have “straight passing privilege.” the community has turned their backs on us for the most part, despite the fact that we are four out of every 10 lgbt people in the us only, despite the fact that we are less likely than gay men/lesbians to be out, and despite the fact that the percentages of bi women (61 percent) and bi men (37 percent) who have been abused by intimate partners are both significantly higher than lesbians (44 percent) and gay men (26 percent.)
i’m sure that the majority of people reblogging this will be bisexuals, and that is my sincere thought, not a guilt trip. i don’t know how to end this but please do better, everyone. that includes bisexuals who make posts shutting down their attraction to men, and those who insist that bi = 2 or cannot include trans or nonbinary people. we are not a perfect community. but that does not give you the right to treat us badly. we shouldn’t stand for what we get and other members of the community NEED to stand with us against this shit.
to everyone asking if what they went through was ‘really’ trauma: it was. if you feel you were traumatised by it, then it was trauma. there’s nothing more to it than that
my therapist told me that trauma is any situation in which you felt helpless that has had a lasting impact on you. trauma doesn’t always feel “traumatic” at the time. you’re valid in your emotions even long after something has happened.
My personal addition ❤
Hey yall, quick friendly reminder that its a little shitty when yall say shit like "this character is AT LEAST bi" or "ill begrudgingly admit theyre bi" Bi is not less than gay or lesbian. Its something to be proud about
Tired of dumbass nihilist shit. Been there done that Everything matters actually. Like just factually every god damn thing effects Something even if it's not anything huge or obvious. Things cannot exist without having any impact on anything else
Saw a post in some space tags recently that was like. "The galaxy with the earth" "the galaxy without the earth" with the same picture twice and "the universe doesn't care" and that's Fucking Stupid! Ohhh you can't see this planet from that far away.. Shut up. Even ignoring everything going on On the planet, our gravity effects the orbit of the rest of the shit around here. You can't see the moon from that far away either but its gravity still pulls the tides. Eat my ass
"Ohh in the grand scheme of things-" what about the little scheme of things? Huh? Ever thought about that, sadboy? The big picture is made up of brush strokes, fool
