the aroma of lasagna was very evident in the home even before regina had set the plate down. their eyes kept to the platter in front of them, a warmness spreading in their chest from the act of affection. home cooked meals were a thing of the past, frozen food and takeout were the future, if they could even afford it. decent food was a luxury to this enigma, so they were unsure what to do with the home cooked meal in front of them.

they glance up momentarily at regina, looking past her before turning their gaze back down to the plate. they tapped their hand on the table gently to grab her attention before starting to sign, albeit a lot more nervously than usual. [ can you try a bite on my plate ? ] it was an odd request, that much they acknowledged but they had to always make sure when they were eating food from others. it was not something they took lightly, and they didn’t want to reject the food from her in the first place. bleeding, bruised, but not dead ( yet ). adrenaline seared through their body, breathing coming through racked wheezes. calloused hands dug into the lush grass. they were so close to catching the cryptid and they knew it was real, the picture crumpled up in their pocket proved it. green eyes looked up and around the background they scaled into, seeing that it most definitely belonged to someone with money. someone with money who could put them in jail for as long as they wanted if they caught them trespassing.

xiomario let out a violent cough before standing up and brushing any dirt and grass off their now ripped jeans. it was too dark for them to see any blood but rough fingertips felt the liquid they have become so familiar with over the years on their thigh. the darkness only continued to hinder them as they stumbled to find the satchel they launched over the fence before they launched themselves ( albeit; in a more clumsy manner )

unsteady feet gently moved around the grass before brushing against something that felt like their satchel. leaning down they grabbed it and their suspicion was confirmed. it was their old satchel. they made a mental reminder to try to remember to patch up any new holes it might have. placing it around their shoulder, they turn to leave but see a dim figure shrouded by light from inside the manor. immediately, they start to back up slowly, praying to whoever was listening that they would not be seen and could make a grand escape or an elaborate story to throw the owner of the mansion off.
