I’m honestly surprised that the Grand Master doesn’t remember Carrie at all when he sees her in ‘The Bunny Whisperer’. Maurice literally says her name in front of him in ‘Operation Flopsy’, and Frank still referred to her as such when introducing her in ‘Run, Carrie, Run’. He even saw her messing with the Despair Bomb, too (even though she supposedly isn’t an MI9 spy), but apparently still didn’t register that she was the same person. She’s pretty lucky that the forget-me-nuts were so potent. 😭

You know, I understand what Carrie's putting down when she's saying that they'd be just as bad as SKUL if they didn't uphold the end of their deal with the Grand Master... In fact, I really do like the line "Rose, what are we fighting for? A world where people betray each other?" But at the same time, this is the guy who almost froze the entire world, almost released a pandemic, and actually used the Despair Bomb, so I feel as if you are not negotiating with the right man. 😭

I wonder if Oscar basically not doing anything in 'The Bunny Whisperer' is because the writers didn't want to bring up the elephant in the room (Jade). 😭😭

"Hang on, the local orchestra is doing a Beethoven concert tonight at the Town Hall. I was going to ask my dad to take me." SHE STILL LOVES CLASSICAL MUSIC!! THIS IS SUCH A WIN.

I just had the realisation that the lipstick laser, the first-ever gadget in the show, appearing in 'Run, Carrie, Run' is supposed to be a homage, since we will never see fun gadgets like that ever again. Fly high... 🥹

Carrie is the literal definition of hopecore!!

It's upon rewatching 'Run, Carrie, Run' that I realise the ending to 'The Gran Master' was the way that it was because Carrie looks on the bright side of things. She may have failed to save Harry, but I think what he taught her about friendship is something that will always stick with her. That's why she still picks herself up at the end of the episode, instead of wallowing in her grief.

Of course, that's not to say that she can always be optimistic. Carrie has such a big heart that she can feel easily betrayed by the people closest to her, so she reacts badly without the full picture (Rose and Oscar in 'Family Tree', Lena in 'The Visit'). Opening her heart to everybody also makes her naive sometimes, like trusting Jed in 'Fit to Wurst' and Well Fit Jim in 'Quakermass', to the point that she's adamant that they can't be doing anything wrong (until she is proven wrong, of course). Due to this, Carrie can also stray from the mission (not that I can remember any times that it doesn't go in her favour, to be fair).

There are situations where she doesn't feel equipped enough to handle things, and her emotions waver (like in 'Run, Carrie, Run' and 'The Patient'), but in the end, she always chooses to be hopeful, and that is her drive. I just think that's beautiful.

You mean to tell me that one of Tom's sweater vests was borrowed from 'Moontaker'?? Ohh, I'm not gonna unsee this now. 😭

"Our last trip was a great success. We went to the Pencil Museum in Morecambe."

I can smell whatever chaos went down with the OGs at that pencil museum. They lose their communicators and accidentally pick up pencils on display from the museum, so Lenny loses track of them (and they lose track of each other). Stewart just so happens to pick up one of these communicators, but thinks that it's the work of the museum, so he doesn't bat an eye when one of the others starts talking to him through it. They're all lost, it's awkward, and they're honestly in disbelief that they're investigating a pencil museum. Nobody is taking the tour of the museum seriously enough, to the point where even Ms Templeman is like, "What are we doing here?"

Oscar saying that he always wanted to be an astronaut is not the tidbit of trivia that I was expecting, but it's still so interesting to me. He really did have a future he dreamt about before he became a spy for MI9, so no wonder he's so excited to be inside the spaceship and touch everything he can. Very much letting his inner child come out.

WOW, 'Moontaker' is such a great episode. It's definitely my favourite out of the series, and I'm so glad that it's a finale episode. The humour was great (especially when Oscar had that scooter and began touching everything in the spaceship), and it's got both personal and external stakes.

I absolutely love Rose in this episode, and her arc reminded me a lot of 'The Cold War' episode in a way, with Daisy getting over her fear of the human body (though less humourous). Carrie saying that nobody would see the 'Night Sky' programme and Rose just awkwardly smiling was just like that joke about the museum, too! It's also really nice to see the entire team being supportive of each other, especially after how rocky their teamwork has been the past couple of episodes.

I wish the entire series was like this episode, but well, at least it's over.

Rambling about the 'Operation Flopsy' script!

OSCAR: Bank accounts? Get more obvious!

This line is swapped with Rose in the episode! They also don't have Oscar's "If this lot had one good idea between them, we'd actually stand a chance against the Grand Master." that's in the episode.

He puts the top back on his pen.

They don't actually show this bit in the episode, but I think it's very telling that even though Shaw is supposedly willing to hear Carrie out, he definitely isn't going to have her idea in mind.

AVRIL: You just don't care about saving the planet at all, do you? For a moment, she almost gets underneath OSCAR's skin. OSCAR: You haven't got a clue what I do. AVRIL: Come on then... what do you do that's so great? OSCAR suddenly realises he can't say anything.

Okay, so this does happen in the episode, but the fact that he genuinely was going to let something slip. Again, unstoppable force meets immovable object! She actually pushes all his buttons, and I'm here for it. 😭

He looks at a calendar wall chart - it shows today as the 12th.

I do love that the script shows that the date of choice was actually intentional! It doesn't specifically say which month it is, but considering that the 12th on a Thursday in 2009 aligns with either February, March or November... Well, it was already February in 'Dark Star', and November wouldn't be a viable option either since they would have finished the year. Sorry, Oscar. It seems that March not being your month was already in the cards from the start, even if it is your birth month. 😬

ROSE: I took a copy of Flopsy's DNA when we had him confined during the US President's mission.

Okay, so I know Rose can't just say, "when Daisy, Blane and I," but the fact that she still says "we" and not "I", as if they're still there. Like they're always spiritually there with her... Ooh, I'll sob right now. (This is also in the episode as well, but seeing it written in the script hits different.) She actually does the same thing in 'The New Grand Master' as well, when she says, "You released Ferrago, after all we went through to put him in jail?" As you can probably tell, I'm super normal about this fact.

ROSE: What was that all about? FRANK: I'll have a talk with him. In the meantime, let's look at your plan. I think it might be even better with a gadget. FRANK produces a thumb cap and pulls it on. FRANK: The 'Magno-thumb'. Picks any standard lock. Yes, and I know you guys can do that with a paper clip, but just cut me some slack. He goes to his own filing cabinet. Places his thumb against it, and the drawer slides open. CARRIE: We'll take three.

I'M CRYINGGGGG. I know the writers were done thinking up new gadget ideas, because this part (and anything related to the Magno-thumb) is completely cut from the actual episode. "Yes, and I know you guys can do that with a paper clip, but just cut me some slack," is so meta, and it's hilarious.

ROSE (to CARRIE): Looks like we're running two teams on this mission.

This line is cut from the episode, but wow. You can already tell that she is mad that Oscar's not focusing on Carrie's operation. Something something Oscar disconnecting from the team that Rose has practically built her work on, which I will probably add to my post on Rose's view of teams in the programme at some point.

As he does, he absentmindedly takes the locket out of his pocket and fingers it.

It's so interesting to me that the scripted version of this scene reads as if Oscar playing with the locket was unintentional. However, he looks directly at the locket in the episode like he's really thinking about his mother. I think he does a similar thing with Edward's ring in 'Black Hole', but I thought it was an interesting detail.

The SKUL AGENT is more skilled but OSCAR is determined.

Ooh, he really wanted his mother back... I'm so sorry, Oscar. 😬

OSCAR is gripping the locket so hard, his hand is white.

Kind of wish they showed this in the episode. I mean, he is holding the locket in his hand, but he's not holding it that tightly. I think a close-up of him squeezing the locket when he sees Jade could've done nicely.

OSCAR: Mum! He's about to go tearing towards her, but ROSE pulls him back. ROSE: Wait, we have to do this like we planned. OSCAR nods, struggling to keep his emotions in check.

They cut this from the episode! You can already tell how eager he is to get his mother back anyway, but I think it's so striking that he still wanted to run to her even though there was a plan set in place. It really is like all logic goes out the window for Oscar when his family is involved.

But AGENT DIXON HALLIDAY is already level with FLOPSY’S cage. She grabs it and looks for a fleeting moment back at the watching OSCAR.

I can't recall if she knew for a fact that it was Oscar there, but the way that she still looks back at him—almost as if she would recognise her son anywhere. Ooh, I wish they kept that in the episode. Jade really was still thinking about him. It was always about him. 😔

And that's all my thoughts about this script! It will be a long while until I get to read the next one.

Whoever decided that 'Family Tree' should air right after 'Think Tank' was evil. The tonal whiplash actually made me stare at my screen.

Carrie needs a hot chocolate and a warm blanket around her pronto. Like, she deserves everything, I think.
