She stood before his door and looked around. He had told her where he kept a spare key, found it, and unlocked the door. She placed the key back and entered the house. If she had to be completely honest, being inside his house without him there made her slightly nervous.
Maybe more so because he had told her if she did anything else aside from what she was told then she'd pay. She frowned at the memory.
She scrunched up her nose after taking one step, realizing how dusty his house had become. He hadn't been here in months--of course it'd become dusty. She was almost tempted to come every other week to keep it clean like she did for Ruby's apartment. Maybe he won't notice?
No, he'll definitely notice.
She moved deeper into the house, looking for the room he told her to go to. She knew where it was, but she felt as though she had to take careful steps or else dire consequences. She knew he wasn't kidding either.
Upon finding his room, she walked in with extreme caution and looked around. A wrapped box was what she came for, and that was all she was allowed to find. She took another look around the room and found it on a dresser. She smiled and took it, leaving the room and closing the door. She wasn't honestly curious about anything else lying in there--she had already been there before and she knew how he was about his secrets. She left the house and locked the door.
On her walk back home, she studied the wrapped box, wondering what was inside. By the time she reached the National Park, she took a seat to collect her strength, and opened her present. She gasped at the necklace with a silver star as its charm, not believing that he had actually gotten her something so wonderful. She placed the box down and put the necklace on. Her smile was bright as she sent a thank you message to him, truly admiring the necklace.
