SAM WINCHESTER LIVED BUT HE NEVER ACTUALLY MOVED ON
Firstly, let’s talk about why Sam lived. It was because when Dean was dying, he asked Sam to promise him that it was okay, not to bring Dean back, and Sam gotta keep living and fighting. That was the only way for Dean to keep on being with Sam in his heart, in every step that Sam would make. Sam simply lived because it was Dean’s request, his death will.
However, living without Dean was almost impossible for Sam. He had been struggling for a long time, isolating himself from the world. Everything in the bunker reminded him of Dean and he was living like a walking dead and had been crying for awhile. Until he got a call from work, he decided to leave the bunker.
When he left, Sam brought Dean’s duffel instead of his back bag. He left everything behind except for things that reminded and contained Dean’s memory.
After that, Sam got a son and he named him Dean Jr. Normally, we all knew that it should be Dean who names his son Dean Jr in case he got a son. However, Sam used this name for his own son. Naming your son after your dead brother proved that he very needed a Dean in his life. And Dean Jr became Sam’s living reason.
Speaking of those photos in Sam’s house, most of them were photos of Sam and Dean together. There was no photo of Sam’s wife or partner. Later, there was some of Dean Jr’s photos but they were just a few. Sam hung on life by creating a new family, naming his own son Dean Jr, but the real Dean had never been replaced by any of that. He held onto the new life, but he could never get rid of Dean’s picture in his mind.
Sam still kept Baby. At this moment, Sam was pretty old, but he still couldn’t hold back his tears when he sat in the Impala. Because it was where Sam and Dean call home, where their journey began. The empty feeling inside of Sam had always been there. As if it was “a stormy sea of moving emotion” and Sam got “tossed about”, “like a ship on the ocean”. After all those years, Sam could never stop feeling in pain when he thought about Dean.
When Sam was in his death bed, Dean Jr came to him, put his hand on Sam’s and told Sam it was okay, he could go now. They were exactly those words that Sam had told Dean to comfort him when his brother had been dying. And when the time came, Sam needed those exact words from a Dean to comfort a Sam. Sam, at his time of dying, was still carrying Dean’s watch as if it was their memory object, a symbol of his brother.
Sam walked right to Dean when he was in Heaven. Why didn’t Sam look old like he was supposed to be? He died old, not young, right? I have been wondering since I watched that scene. Until I realized that Heaven is where your soul lives. And the fact that Sam looked exactly the same as when Dean had died showed that even when Sam lived such a long apple pie life, his soul had actually died right at the moment Dean passed away.
In conclusion, Sam has always been alive, but he couldn’t actually live ever since that night.

We all want the cure. Do we? Do you? It doesn’t matter. There’s only one so it’s not like I’m going to get it anyway.
Thank you, Tom. You made my heart full today. 💕💕

Facebook PSA
Hey all, a little Social Media PSA if you have the Facebook App on your phone.
With the last update, Facebook began tracking something called ‘off-Facebook Activity’ which keeps up with all apps and browsing you do off of Facebook and collects that information with the purpose of targeting ads… which means they’re selling it to ad agencies. This includes access to any banking apps on your phone and your spending habits.
Not only is this a major breech of privacy that Facebook didn’t have to tell us about when they updated the app, it’s, of course, automatically turned on.
To turn it off, go into your Facebook app, pull up the menu from the main screen [the button with the three horizontal lines] scroll down to security and privacy, find ‘Off-Facebook Activity’ and hit the button that lets you manage your history to see all the apps it’s been collecting from. From there, you can clear the information it’s already collected, and there will be a button regarding ‘Future activity’ where you can turn the ‘feature’ off, at which point Facebook with give you an ‘ARE YOU SURE YOU DON’T WANT US COLLECTING YOUR INFORMATION TO SELL YOU THINGS???’ screen. Yes, yes you are sure. Because this is disgusting.
Facebook made this super hard to find, so I’ve written up instructions for how I got through it (on my app - I don’t know if there are other versions where it’s different):
From Facebook, go to the Menu by clicking on the three horizontal lines on the top right of the screen.
Scroll down to the bottom and select the Settings & Privacy drop-down menu.
Then select Settings (the first option under the drop-down).
This will take you to a screen showing multiple headers with lists of links under them
Scroll down to Your Facebook Information and select Off-Facebook Activity.
The next page has a short explanation of Off-Facebook Activity. Click Manage Your Off-Facebook Activity after the What You Can Do header.
This will take you to a screen with an option to Clear History (which I recommend). To actually turn off this feature, you will have to click the three dots at the top right of the screen and select the Manage Future Activity option that pops up.
This will take you to a page explaining in more detail what they’re doing. Select the Manage Future Activity at the bottom of the page.
THEN you can finally select the toggle to turn off Future Off-Facebook Activity.
If it’s glowing blue with the circle on the right side, it’s active, and if it’s gray with the circle on the left side, it’s off.
Just went and checked this out and yikes on a stick
Yuck. I just did this.

The problem is me. And I can’t be fixed. I don’t think that’s true.
DANIEL SHARMAN as The Weeping Monk in Cursed (2020)
It might just be me, but I feel like the show refuses to really humanise Rio. I get keeping him mysterious, but they give next to nothing. Even showing the physical/mental impact of 2x13 would go miles. It just feels like they won’t let the audience to connect with him. Instead they use him as a plot device in Beths story. It makes no sense from a writing perspective to keep him so 2d. If they don’t wanna develop his character, they should’ve just killed him, rather than use him as a set prop.
I’m not sure you are not alone but... I really disagree?
First, I’m not sure why you don’t think they let the audience connect with him. Clearly the audience has connected with him to the point that he is both a fan favorite and sometimes the only favorite (there are definitely people watching this show that don’t like any character but Rio).
While they didn’t show us the physical impact of 2.13 directly (no healing in a hospital, no scars), I’d argue that Rio was more prone to small movements and sitting still in season 3 than in seasons 1 + 2. His movements were less fluid and he inhabited spaces differently and with a smaller presence in some ways—he didn’t really use his physicality to intimidate Beth anymore (think of him putting the gun to her head in 1.07 and 2.06, compared to him merely putting it on the table as he bent over in 3.04). People also commented on him seeming tired more frequently.
Emotionally, his repeated references to the shooting showed us the impact of 2.13: not only could he not let it go (obviously—because he shouldn’t) he couldn’t help but bring it up at every possible opportunity:
When he pulled out the bullets in 3.03 (keeping them alone is a HUGE move to show how tightly Rio is hanging on to that betrayal)
When his face was a mixture of every naked emotion at the idea of having a baby with this person in 3.03
When he tells Beth she couldn’t afford to buy back her life in 3.04 (implying the betrayal was too severe)
When he makes the decision to kill Lucy in front of Beth in 3.05 (which broke the seal on the level of violence he displayed directly in front of her as an indirect reaction to the violence she committed against him )
When he yells at her on the bench in 3.06 about how she didn’t get to act like she got a say since she shot him (bringing it up at the first chance he got)
When he clearly lies in 3.06 about boyfriends “always” getting over ex’s betrayals (showing that he wants to move on but can’t)
When he reminds Beth that she’s the one that owes him in 3.08
When he quoted her words back from the shooting at her in 3.09, giving her the opportunity to take him out because he’s “the problem”
When he let Beth know that he’s always going to have a hand in her affairs until she takes him out for good in 3.11
All of these scenes give us insight into Rio’s emotional state that’s a direct or indirect result of the shooting, and Manny plays them with nuance and gravity.
I’d also argue these are all scenes for us to empathize with and connect to him, as well. I don’t think he’s painted as the villain that we should be rooting for Beth to take out ASAP, which is why the biggest complaint of this season was about the hitman plot—audiences were so sympathetic to Rio, they couldn’t even get into Beth’s headspace to understand why she was so miserable and felt like it was the only option.
Not only that, 3.01 and 3.02 explores how Rio was chafing by being separated from his family and reminded us that he’s a father who missed his son by showing us that reunion scene, which really had no other purpose but to humanize Rio and to have us empathize with him and to hint at his impending discovery of the Beth/Rhea connection. (Interestingly, they decided seeing Rio hug his son was more important than seeing Rio learn how Beth was continuing to betray him).
I don’t really think we get next-to-nothing about Rio.

365 Days of Captain Swan [Day 317]
He’s your first love. I intend to be your last. However long it takes.
So it's starting to seem like Rio is really hurt about Beth. What do you take of his comment, "they always do"? Does Beth have any idea that he is hurt by what she did?
She’s definitely hurt him, anon, and I think Beth does know that, yes, but I also think that she might be mistaken on what it is that hurt him. I think she thinks that the biggest trauma for both of them right now is the shooting at the end of 2.13, and while I think that is a capital-i Issue for Rio, I also….don’t think that’s what has him pushing her away with one hand and pulling her closer with the other.
I think he’s most hurt because she quit him fairly brutally both personally and professionally in 2.09 and 2.10.
Which is a big statement, I know, so let’s break that down a bit.
(Behind a cut, because this got long, and I wanted screencaps, haha)
