I thought the most annoying thing about trying to get back into drawing again was how is takes so many tries to get anything to look remotely right.

Turns out it's actually having an idea for a character you want to draw, only to find you've completely forgotten what you wanted their face to look like when you get to that point.

No specific fandoms, as it has happened in several, but while I still wish tumblr had a mute option it has gotten so freaking easy to immediately block people who post complaining about ships, and ship dynamics.

I'm trying to get back into drawing after not doing it for several years. I used to have so much fun doing it, and I just want to try and get that back.

I don't really know what happened, but at somehow I just got to this point where I could never finish anything, nothing ever looked right no matter how much I tried to fix it. I miss just being able to enjoy it drawing so freaking much.

I realize I may have just lost something that used to be a huge part of my life, and I can't get that back. I still think it's worth trying, even if it can get frustrating, and I have to take baby steps.

Rewatching Madoka Magica did remind me of the TGCF idea it inspired where Jun Wu obsessed with getting what he wants out of Xie Lian goes the Homura route, and finds a way to keep redoing the whole 800 fucking years over and over again, but never wins. It drives him even more insane.

He thought for a while taking Hua Cheng out of the equation would work. But even in the timelines where was able to successfully do that, the times Xie Lian survived not having the support of his most devoted believer Jun Wu still fucking loses because Xie Lian will never ever be what Jun Wu want him to be.

I've made a huge mistake.

I already mentioned I was watching Transformers stuff, but I also rewatched Madoka Magica cause there is allegedly a new movie coming out if doesn't just keep getting delayed forever.

I got an idea for a crossover, I have OCs for this already, I'm coming up with god damned lore.

If I had a nickel for every time my car locked itself, and I had to unlock it through the passenger side door, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

So I've gotten bitten by the childhood nostalgia bug again, and am devouring Transformers media. With one exception. I watched the first Bayverse movie, and while I did enjoy it, I have absolutely no desire to see anymore of it. I don't even know what it is about the 2007 movie that made my think, "Ok, that was good. That was also enough." So I'm currently watching the cartoons, mostly G1, and Prime right now, I also watched Transformers One which is fucking amazing.

Anyway in another weird crossover idea I'll probably never use, I've come to the conclusion that Xie Lian and Optimus Prime would be really good friends.

They are both beings who value the lives of others, and want to protect people. They're both old, they've dealt with war. Neither of them really have any idea how to handle the random children who keep ending up under their care. They've both died, and come back from it at least once. They have so much in common.

Also Xie Lian could totally lift Optimus over his head with one arm, it's hilarious, and no one is ever changing my mind about that.

A blinding bolt of heavenly lightning struck the black blade and infused its heart with power—it gleamed eerie light. Dense, gloomy clouds began to stir, and soon, a sea of black had enveloped Yong’an’s skies entirely. Countless faces, arms, and legs roiled within the storm, as if hell had moved to the heavens.

First, here's something else that pisses me off about everything related to Bai Wuxiang. He keeps pressuring Xie Lian, telling him the spirits have to be released soon and creating a deadline. Then, once Xie Lian has completely rejected his attempts at manipulation, he releases the spirits. Was there a time limit or would the exact same thing happen if Xie Lian had refused him in the first day? It wasn't "Xie Lian had come to his senses but it was too late" it was "The second Bai Wuxiang knows he won't comply, he punishes Xie Lian by not giving him the chance to get rid of the spirits safely."

Releasing the spirits wouldn't change the fact that his objective failed and Xie Lian has defied him, so it's purely to punish him. He makes sure to physically force him to hold the sword while he does it too. Once again, to try to get him to carry the blame as he's constantly blaming him for everything in the flashbacks.

Second, heavenly lighting infused the blade with power 😡 Jun Wu was in our face about it.

Isn’t this the same with the Xianle civil war that eventually destroyed the nation? Give Xie Lian a “choice” of what to do, but if he doesn’t pick the “right” choice, do it for him, anyways?

Jun Wu is a villain that spends the entire novel tormenting Xie Lian obsessively to the point of ruining his whole life with an entire kingdom as collateral, but people would prefer to make him irrelevant and act like everything bad that happened to Xie Lian is his own fault. That way they can keep their delusions about Xie Lian's backstory being the tale of an arrogant prince who had to learn let go of his pride and do what others tell him to do.

Has anyone else ever had a dream where you realize something is wrong, and then apparently your brain tries to fix it, but does it wrong the way so it makes even less sense?

The immortal demon kitten was weird enough to begin with, even though it was still super cute, but when dream me realized it was too young to be as active it was the solution was not to give it wheels.

What’s wild is that fandom is so intent on calling Xie Lian “idealistic,” “naive,” or at worst, “just plain stupid” to want to “save everyone,” but… Xie Lian never said that? He said his dream was to save the common people, and whenever he was challenged on that principle as a child, his answer was always, “If I have the resources, it’s my duty to at least try.” He had the means to save a child falling off the city gate tower, so he did. He had the means to bring rain from a distant country for a territory of his kingdom in drought, so he did. He had the means to attempt negotiating with the refugees before they turned rebel, so he did, but the moment that negotiating become unreasonable, he took up arms to prevent as much bloodshed as possible while he thought of another solution. When everything went to shit anyways, he went, “I did what I could, as was my duty,” and it was only when he was tortured to a breaking point did he go, “What I did wasn’t worth it, so I should have done nothing at all and let people suffer without me.” That “I should hoard my resources while others suffer lest I be dragged down with them” mentality is exactly what the villains (Jun Wu, Qi Rong) and the antagonists (Mu Qing, Feng Xin) want Xie Lian to have come away with, that you are always more important than others, that you should never help anyone else if you gain nothing from it and especially if there's a chance that you suffer for it. And that is exactly the mentality that Xie Lian is rewarded for rejecting.

This is literally like the Jiang Clan motto from mdzs: it is not “achieve the impossible,” it is “attempt the impossible.” If you have the means to make a difference but won’t even try because “what if it backfires on me?” then you are a corrupt coward who does not deserve the resources you hoard. Let the money rest with those who give with liberal pockets to the poor, the strength with those who live in defense of the weak, the intelligence with those who think of solutions to ease life for the community as a whole. And let those whose concerns begin and end at their own desires wield only enough power to affect nothing outside of their own solitary life.
