Books to read if you enjoyed Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
I went to see Beetlejuice 2 during the week and it made me think of all the books that give similar ~vibes that I recommend because theyâre great. These are a mix of YA and adult fantasy and horror:
Perfectly Preventable Deaths series by Deirdre Sullivan

The Afterlife of Mal Caldera by Nadi Reed Perez
Former rockstar Mal Caldera is dead, and she doesn't care. She's only worried about her little sister Cris, who's picking up the pieces she left behind. Determined to make contact, Mal enlists the help of Ren, a local medium who's seen his fair share of death. What follows is a doomed romance in a tale that I deemed a post-Beetlejuician*, darkly comic approach to the afterlife.

The Pallbearers Club by Paul Tremblay
Decades after starting the Pallbearers club (dedicated to mourning the lonely), former awkward teen Art Barbara is trying to make sense of his friendship with one Mercy Brown (whose hobbies include music, local history, and digging up the dead by writing a memoir.
But Mercy's reading it too, and she's not convinced Art's remembering it right - she doesn't even think half of it happened...
The Undetectables Series by Courtney Smyth
Be gay, solve crimes, take naps: Three witches and a ghost in a cat costume (don't ask) start a PI agency in order to track down a serial killer in their small magical town in Book One, and Book Two lout sept 24th UK/Irl, oct 1st US) sees the gang called to investigate a murder on set of a zombie tv show - by the victim herself!
