“Good. Don’t forget it either, Twin.”
“You wouldn’t let me.”
“Thank you, Ev.”
“Anytime brother.”
“It felt,” Aurelie paused, dropping her hands from her signing, she wasn’t sure of the how to describe it but the next sign that she did might surprise a few people, considering Aurelie was never the one to pout about being mute, she knew she couldn’t change it, “normal. It felt normal. It felt like I wasn’t this weird freaky demigod mute girl who constantly had to sign or write something down. It felt normal to talk.”
Watching Aurelie’s reaction shot a pang of pain deep inside him. There was nothing in his power to give Aurelie her voice back, and that killed him. “I’m sorry that’s over...”
Ronnie caught the parcel with ease and when he opened it, he looked at his friend in disbelief, “You did not buy me a new watch.”
“You better. It was expensive,” Evan chuckled.
Aurelie sighed before signing back to her brother. ‘I miss speaking. Like so much, Evan. I haven’t felt this way for a long time and since April Fools happened, I forgot how good it felt to speak. I didn’t remember much before I lost the ability to speak because I was young but now that feeling is way more than I remember.’
Evan was silent. There was really nothing he could say - or sign - that could make things better. Nothing could. “I’m so sorry,” he signed, sighing softly, “But when you did get to speak for that one day. How did it feel?” Ev wondered, smiling reassuringly, trying to show her he was just trying to help.
“Yes. Contrary to belief I love you very much.”
"I know you do.”
“And that happens only in every single episode.”
“Okay fine, maybe a like the show a little.”
“Of course he did, I always get that kind of stuff.”
“Pfft, lame.”
“I believe it is, Ev.”
“Happy birthday, Ronnie,” he chuckled, tossing him a small parcel.
Aurelie looked up at her brother approaching. She set her ukulele down, giving a small smile. ‘Yes, I’m fine,’ she lied.
“I’m not buying that, but if you don’t want to talk about it I understand,” Evan signed.
“Really? Do you think it was on purpose?” Luca asked with an arched brow.
“Who knows,” Evan shrugged, “I barely know anything on the subject, it’s why I came to see if you knew anything more.”
“No, I’m just sitting here,” Luca shrugged before turning to look back at his book, closing it slowly. “What’s going on?”
"Somebody broke one of Rose’s arrows and she’s having a fit. Any idea who it was?”
Rose rolled her eyes. “You had it coming, twin.”
“Love you too, sis.”
“Oh shit, I forgot that was a thing,” Ronnie replied with a chuckle, “So are you gonna wish me a happy birthday or what?” He joked.
“I didn’t,” Evan teased back, “Ah pfft, is that still a thing?”
Aurelie was sat in the ampitheatre quietly playing her ukulele, a sad look on her face. Though glad to be in her own body again, the girl missed being able to talk.
“Aurelie?” he called out, approaching the familiar figure, “Are you alright?” he signed.
“Gods am I glad to be back in my own body in time for my birthday.”
“So am I. It would be weird to have to wish a happy birthday to my best friend in my sister’s fuck buddy’s body.”
“You’ve resorted to name calling now? That’s rough.”
