when it's sunny but still raining... <3

I'm busy wrappin' up a month full of commissions (only 2 left!), and I was finally inspired to draw something new, albeit a bit different. It was pouring rain last week, but on my walk home, the clouds cleared a little... while still raining overhead. And I gotta say, walking in the rain with headphones (and good boots) is actually pretty A+, it's like you're in your own little music video:3 (Paris in the Rain, anyone? <3)

I’ve seen a bunch of these bio-like things done recently and I wanted to try it myself, in a slightly different way ^^ By the end of last year, my brain was not a particularly self-loving place, what with all the unnecessary comparisons to others, self-doubt, anxiety, self-inflicted stress, etc. Knowing this needed to change, I took the first couple weeks of my year to make “resolutions”, but in an honest-to-goodness, serious way. I really tried to re-evaluate myself, pinpoint what got me into such a rut, and identify things I can do to make my brain a happier place. So this year, I want to introduce myself with these intentions. ^^ What do you intend to do this year?

I started a new job a couple months ago (my first full-time job, in fact!) and... whew, it's been tough. Between attempts to quiet my imposter syndrome, growing this lil' side hustle, and trying to maintain my sanity, I haven't had much time or motivation to draw. (I'm apparently not supposed to apologize for that, though ;-;). With everything I do, I'm very very much a perfectionist, to the point where it just paralyzes me because I'm afraid of making mistakes or putting out something I'm not proud of. All throughout my life, I've had to re-learn over and over how to tame the harsh thoughts in my head in order to get back to a state where I can be happy and productive. In this new chapter, Stanley's been a HUGE help in reeling me in every time the self-criticism in my head spirals out of control, so I think I'll try to write some down of his best lessons. tl;dr -- These are #reminders for me and all the other self-critics out there, that maybe -- just maybe -- we're not quite as terrible as we might think we are. ^^;; <3 <3
