Esme: I agree! Empathy must be such a draining power, I don't know how he does it.

Esme: this AI bullshit is out there just slightly altering our facial features on those things! It's such a toxic thing to see a version of yourself on social media, just slightly better.

Carlisle: I do admit though that having some kind of excellent power would be cool. Exceptional self control has really done nothing for me other than learn not to kill people.

Rosalie: Probably, but when he's in such an angsty little snit do we really NEED him around? We can just say he's sick or something, us missing sunny days only could come off as a little suspicious too. No, I meant we've evolved past feeling the need to check social medias to see what the humans are saying about us. Besides, we all know what they think about us anyway thanks to Edward, so there's no point. I know you are, but they're /bored/ housewives, they could be bitter about how attractive you are or how much you love your wife or how freaky it is that your foster children are mostly coupled up.

Carlisle: We always need our family, Rose. And we need to be supportive if he's going through a rough time. I could certainly write him a doctors note. Yes, I guess you're right. Maybe I should check out this Yelp so I can see what I need to improve upon. I love my wife and all my adopted children no matter what anyone says.

Esme: That'd be wonderful! Maybe we can check in with the other kids and see if any of them need anyone to talk to, as well. Wouldn't want to seem like we're playing favorites.

Esme: Teenagers are strange, and social media heightens everything. Did you know there are teenagers out there trying to get plastic surgery to look like the filters on Snapchat? I'm just like, 'Before Snapchat filters, we had to turn to vampirism to get flawless skin'. 😂

Carlisle: I wish Rosalie would cooperate. Everyone else seems to have adjusted fairly well. Jasper might be able to use it too just to come out of his shell.

Carlisle: That seems like a rather unattainable goal considering some of those filters require flower crowns would be permanently attached.

Rosalie: Just that he was leaving. Probably, and even if he didn't she probably saw something that would give her a hint. It's a problem human teenagers face, I like to think we've all evolved past that. But you could be more vulnerable to it than we are since you're not a teenager. I hear those bored stay at home moms can get absolutely vicious on Yelp.

Carlisle: I wonder if there’s anything we can do to stop him. It’s not good for him to take too many days off of school when we already disappear on sunny days. Of course I don’t expect that you all are doing the cyberbullying, and I’d like to think you’d all be able to handle it but Edward is a special case. I’ve always been nice to everyone what would they have bad to say about me?

Esme: If we get him a therapist, I'm sure there's some of our own so he wouldn't have to. Isn't someone in the Romanian coven a psychologist? Or was it Arkansas?

Esme: Teens don't need a reason, they've got phones and opinions, and our kids don't exactly blend in. Anyone different immediately becomes a target.

Carlisle: I’ll make a call and see who can come to see him. Hopefully we can find a fellow vegetarian as to avoid drawing attention to ourselves.

Carlisle: They don’t blend in because they’re all incredible. That should be celebrated, not bullied.

Esme: I worried that living in Washington might depress them, love. Even the occasional vacations might not be able to keep them from falling into the trap of this state having the highest depression rates in the country.

Esme: Or perhaps he's being cyber-bullied. That seems to be something parents are worried about nowadays.

Carlisle: I think Edward has been depressed since I turned him. Maybe even before that. Do you think he'd be receptive to a therapist? Edward is smart enough to skirt around the tricky explanations of his past.

Carlisle: Why would anyone cyberbully Edward? He's a perfectly fine boy.
