The best age-gap romances aren’t really just about the age gap. They’re about desire colliding with expectation, and the lives that are reshaped as a result.

These three films come closest to capturing what made Inganno such a compelling entry in the genre: uncertainty, vulnerability, risk, and the possibility that a single relationship can change everything.

She gave me a really bright smile from the door of the restaurant as soon as we saw each other. ☺️

I swear I could’ve melted right on the spot when she did that, but I guess the weather’s too cold that the freezing temperatures held me together.

And then we met halfway across the room, she kissed me on the cheek and said , “You look extra pretty today!”

“Well, DD, I put a little more effort on what I have on today because I’m seeing you!” is what I didn’t say. 👀

We sat next to each other, talked for the next three hours about her book project and how I can work with her on it.

She was so touchy in the sweetest way possible, I felt my cheeks warm up every time she put her hand on my thigh or my forearm—and she did it a lot. I hope I didn’t blush at all! Otherwise, she never mentioned if I did. 🫣

We didn’t even notice the time until her husband was calling her mobile phone, asking her whether she was ready to go home already.

I very nearly asked, “Can I go home with you guys?” 😆

I think I am at the point of my friendship with them that I could’ve joked about it and they would’ve said yes. But I didn’t dare ask because I’m afraid of the consequences. 😳

So she and I will be in phone and Zoom calls a lot for the next six or so months, aside from our weekly meetings with her publisher. How do I manage not falling in love then, eh?

I really torture myself by having intense crushes on married, straight women.

So this post was made because two months ago, I reconnected with an acquaintance from 13 years ago.

I was a wee “little girl” then, and bought lots of books from her bookstore. I already liked her, but it wasn’t really “a crush”. She was in her 50s at the time, and I never met her husband.

When we reconnected, though, something just “sparked” in my heart. Maybe because I don’t speak to her anymore like she was some distant bookstore owner, but because we’re both adults now that enjoy similar things.

I hate that because I met her husband while she and I were catching up over coffee, and I really like him (he’s so good looking and kind) . But I’ve been stuck at imagining that her head is on my lap, and I’m playing with her hair while she reads a book to me.
