Team dynamics meeting
Last week, we finally were able to combine schedules and get together for our team session with our coach. It was such a pleasant moment to think about the strongest features of our team, how the project is going and even a moment to balance the PREMIUM experience. Thank you Nicole!

Last Tuesday was a remarkable day for our journey, we had the possibility of presenting our project and the progresses we have made to the other PREMIUM groups. We deeply appreciate the feedback and the questions we received from the other teams. It was a really interactive and interesting night, with amazing projects and pitches. Furthermore, we counted with the presence and support of our mentor and our coach. Thank you! :) Unfortunately, one of our team members could not be present during the presentations, but that did not stop her from supporting the rest of the team. Thank you, Elena!

We are super excited to share our plan of action for our project with TOUT Maastricht, aimed at the increasing community cultural participation, at the PREMIUM mid-term presentations! We look forward to receiving any and all input from all of you.

The right to take part in cultural life is pivotal to the system of human rights. To forget that is to endanger this entire system, by depriving human beings of the opportunity to responsibly exercise their other rights, through lack of awareness of the fullness of their identity.

Why do we need community participation in culture anyway?
It has been shown that people who frequently attend arts and cultural events in community venues tend to be more active participants in community life and therefore make up a potential pool of active supporters for arts and cultural organizations to cultivate.
Thus, in order to promote the development of arts and culture in the region, it is essential that a conducive environment be created first. And community participation seems to be the way to do it!

TOUT Maastricht : our ardent client!
For those of you not familiar with our client, Tout Maastricht is a small, independent network organization that has been working since 2011 to make art & culture visible and accessible throughout Maastricht! Their primary goal of the organisation is to promote and increase participation in art and culture in the Meuse-Rhine EU region and given the optimal location of Maastricht in this regard, they have chosen to have the foundation of this endeavor right here! During our project, our team is working with the Mr. JJ (Jaap) van Royen [ Director Tout Maastricht & intendant culture participation ] and Mr. Ruud Hanlik [ Culture education & internationalization]. Always eager to help and be involved, we hope to have a fruitful PREMIUM period with them, resulting in the creation of something that is beneficial to the entire community.

CulTOUT, Cultuur für tout le monde. Wait, what?!
We know it looks a bit strange at first, but no worries, we have put effort into this name! Since we are working for the cultural non-profit organisation Tout Maastricht, we wanted to include their name in our project. CulTOUT consequently refers to both the cultural aspect of our project and the relevant identity of our client.
Moving on the slogan Cultuur für tout le monde, we wanted to emphasize the international character of our project. We decided to dedicate our subline to three different languages and countries, since our cultural embassy is located in the middle of the so-called ‘Euregion’. Respectively, we integrated Dutch, German and French words in our slogan which literally translates to Culture for everyone. The underlying meaning of this slogan corresponds with our willingness and dedication to help our client achieve a higher level of cultural participation in the region. No matter your background, characteristics or personal opinion; culTOUT strives to make an inclusive cultural embassy that embraces all types of art.

A few years ago, Maastricht was nominated as one of the candidates to be the cultural capital of Europe, but lost. The unique location of Maastricht makes it an optimal region for cultural co-operation for the Muese-Rhine region.Thus, when it was determined that there needs to be increased cultural co-operation in this region, Maastricht was the perfect place to start.
The project that TOUT Maastricht is doing in collaboration with Maastricht university is aimed at everyone in this region with a special focus on vulnerable people - namely, the youth, the elderly and the poor. The main goal is to increase participation in cultural activity as a community.
