Yay Ohno is the designer for the 24-hour TV charity t-shirt! This is Ohno’s 4th time designing the shirt (2 times collab and 2 times as the sole designer for the shirt). It has Arashi members’ initials on it ^_^  (ONSAM) 24 hour Television (Love Save the Earth) will be broadcast on 24th August 2019.

2019 24 Hour Television Charity T- Shirt designed solely by Arashi’s Ohno Satoshi. The design was unveiled on Arashi Shiyagare episode on 6/8/19 and this year it was designed solely by Ohno himself, no corroboration.  

Last time Ohno designed the charity t-shirt by himself was back in 2004 when young Arashi was invited to be charity hosts for the first time.

This Year’s theme is “People to People, how do we support each other & walk towards this new era.  (Reiwa since Heisei just ended last week.)

Following are just my own Art History student’s views, and you can interpret it many ways because Ohno’s artwork  are straight forward and complicated.

1) Hand grasping tightly together and in the middle,  you see the Baby’s face again.  (some see it as Ohno’s own newborn baby face) Never let go of your pure & innocent heart.

2) You see all the emotions of life depicted: Happiness, Sadness, Outraged, Fortune, Poverty.  Ohno stated he did not want to depict just happiness because that is not reality.  Even when you stumble and get hurt, you get back up & keep going because that is part of growing up.  

3) Member Initials on the 5 fingers - Arashi are 5 People, without 1, they are not Arashi.  Just like the human hand, without 1 finger, your hand mobility is not the same.  Notice the eldest Ohno depicting himself as the pinkie finger with a band-aid on it while youngest Matsujun is the thumb with a scar.  

4) Lotus is the symbol of Rebirth in Buddhism & Hinduism.  How does such a beautiful & pure looking flower emerge from dirty muddy water?  Ohno’s art has always included themes of destruction and life emerging.  

However you see the symbols in this design, I am just so thrilled to see Ohno has picked up his pencil and was able to design such a intricate design depicting life’s ups and downs.
