“Peter,” you groaned, running your hands down your face.
Glancing back down at the numerous papers scattered across your desk you practically gagged. You had spent three straight hours in this uncomfortable chair since the last break you and Peter had taken. At this point all of the words on your papers were starting to blur together.
“Did you finish reviewing history?” he mumbled, just as deflated as you were at the moment.
Finals were a very depressing time.
“I’m barely halfway through,” you sighed, sinking further down in the chair situated on the opposite side of Peter’s small room. He was laying on his bed.
“I don’t know how much more of this I can take,” you sighed.
Turning to face you, Peter got up from his place on the bed, “well don’t overdo it, once you lose focus all of your studying becomes pretty much useless.”
Mumbling something you leaned back in your chair completely mentally drained. There was only one more day left until testing. How were you supposed to memorize everything before then?
“I’m so screwed,” you whispered, feeling the anxiety start to get to you.
“You worry too much,” Peter smiled down at you, now standing behind your chair, “you’ll do great, I can sense it,” he winked.
Laughing, you got up out of your chair and wrapped your arms around his neck.
“How do you go nonstop for so long?” you asked. Â
“A lot of ladies ask me that.”
“Peter!” you yelled, suppressing a laugh as you lightly smacked him on the arm.
“You kind of walked into that one,” he laughed, “come on let's take a food break and I’ll quiz you on Literature next.”
“But really, doesn’t all this reviewing just mentally destroy you?” you asked again, following him to the kitchen.
Aunt May had left some banana bread out for the two of you before she left to spend the day with a friend.
“Not really,” he shrugged, “if I find the subject interesting it’s about as easy as reading a good novel, I guess I just like this year’s courses is all.”
Narrowing your eyes at him you chomped into your banana bread, “whatever you say Peter, but I feel like there's something deeper going on. No one enjoys school that much.”
“You already know I’m Spiderman,” he laughed clearing up the now empty tray, “what other freakishly big secret could I be keeping?”
Turning, he winced a little as he walked to the dishwasher. Someone had messed him up really good last week when he went out under the mask. The memory made you flinch.
Refocusing, you gave him a quizzical look.
Shrugging, you kept your eyes on him, “I don’t know but probably witchcraft.”
“You are clearly exhausted,” he laughed, encircling you in a warm hug, “maybe we should stop for the day and watch a movie or something, I don’t know how much longer you can keep studying like this.”
Something about him was so inviting and you could feel your eyelids begin to droop as you sunk deeper into the hug.
“I’m so tired,” you mumbled, burying your face into his chest.
Peter chuckled and you could hear the deep sound reverberating through him as he slowly led the two of you to the couch.
Grabbing some blankets, you leaned back on his chest and slowly fell asleep, listening to the sounds of him breathing.
The next morning you were much more clear minded and ready to review, again feeling much more relaxed. You now knew who to turn to when things get stressful.
Him being freaked out when he sees the blood in the fridge
When you’re starving, he’ll always sacrifice some of his blood for you because that’s how much he loves you
Him coming home to you lazily stretching out on the couch, indulging your human instincts for a little bit
When you go out with him, the restaurants always give him strange looks when you order a glass of blood to go with your raw steak and salad

He insists on having you by him in council meetings with Atlantis: some of the more conservative members of the council scowl, but that just makes him pull you closer
Your clan accepts him but it took them a while. It wasn’t until he defended them from a vicious werewolf attack that they welcomed him with open arms. It’s shallow of them, but at least they’re grateful.
Now, sometimes your mom makes him a special stew and quietly tucks it into your suitcase
You’ve definitely gained a better respect for the ocean: the seahorses flock to you even when Aquaman isn’t around

- Him always being concerned when you go swimming because he still isn’t completely sure how long humans can hold their breath and stay safe.
-When you’re on land, sometimes you catch him staring intently at the fishbowl trying to figure out why they stayed subjected to humanity instead of revolting
- At night, sometimes you impulsively hug his solid chest just to remind yourself that he would rather be with you than spend all of eternity ruling Atlantis (he delegates)

“Give me your backpack!” a voice shouts.
You consider making a break for it, but the gun in his hand makes you realize flight is impossible.
Your lip trembles, but you stubbornly hold it still and reluctantly hand over your backpack to a kid who can’t be much older than you.
“Hands on the ground! Don’t move!”
You’re not sure which one to do, but settle for placing your hands slowly on the ground and staying absolutely still.
“Please,” you say in a shaky voice, “I’m just a student, there are mostly textbooks in that bag, nothing of value.”
You look up and the gun is still being pointed at you.
“I say what is of value. Hand over your iPhone in your back pocket. And your ring.”
You comply, seeing no alternative. The ring is very precious to you and you bite back a sob as you tug it off your finger.
You hope for police or a friendly restaurant owner to peek around the bend into the alley, but no such luck.
“I’m going to leave and you’re going to count to sixty before you get up or I shoot.”
Then, out of nowhere, your assailant is blown back.
Spiderman, the new short one, appears by your side.
“Come on ma’am,” he says. Something about his voice is oddly familiar.
The mugger gets up and reaches for his gun.
Spiderman shoots a web toward it and yanks it into his own hand.
“Nope,” he says, emptying the bullets from the gun.
Suddenly, faster than you can comprehend, Spiderman leaps up to the man and gently touches him.
A spark of electricity lights the air, and the man is knocked unconscious.
You gape.
“I didn’t know Spiderman could do that,” you say.
“Me neither,” he replies, “until a couple months ago.”
You gather your things.
On impulse, you hug Spiderman.
“Thank you,” you choke back another sob. This day has been far too emotional for you.
“No problem,” Spiderman says softly, patting you on the back, “I’m just here to help.”
“I hope I see you again,” you say and you actually mean it. You didn’t think anyone could replace the Spiderman that the recently unmasked Peter Parker was shown to be, but this new one has surprised you with his compassion.
“Oh don’t worry (Y/N), this isn’t goodbye. Not forever,” he says, and launches himself off, shooting a web to the top of the building. He swings through the city and you’ve lost him.
Summary: Draco, your old lover, catches you trying to flee in your seventh year of Hogwarts. You are a Mudblood and it is only a matter of time the Carrows find out, so you take matters into your own hands.

The hallway is dark and dimly lit, smelling faintly of rot. You scurry through it, pressing your back against the wall when you hear the sharp click of footsteps. You’ve disillusioned yourself the best you can, but you cannot afford to be sloppy.
You clutch your bag to your chest and try to slow your breathing. The footsteps slow as they pass you.
It is the girl Carrow. She is like a dog with the scent of blood, probably already alerted to your absence from your Common Room.
“Here my pretty,” she coos, “you’ve been naughty (Y/N). Time to face your punishment.”
You shudder. It wasn’t worth it to come back, not even for Draco.
She passes through and you let out a sigh of relief.
Heading back on your way, you can’t help but realize how close that was.
To you, every footstep you make is an avalanche, every breath is a storm. You wish you could Silencio yourself, but that would leave you too vulnerable to risk.
You finally reach the passageway to Honeydukes at the one-eyed Witch. This you can cast a Silencio on, and you watch it grind open.
You scramble in, but then you realize something dreadful: you don’t know how to close the statue!
Frantically you search for a button or some trigger, but two pairs of footsteps approach and you must leave.
You practically fly down the passage, careless of your heavy breathing and thunderous footsteps. You need to make it to Honeydukes so you can apparate!
“Down here,” calls a low voice and you increase your pace.
“I’ve got her. Go and tell the Carrows to stop searching,” a more familiar one responds. You frown, where is that from?
It doesn’t matter now. The passage is long, and your cardio abilities not so great, but you make it to the end and heave the trapdoor open.
At least, you try to lift the trapdoor open, but its weight is too much for you to bear.
You’re an idiot. You’re a witch.
You take out your wand and blast the trapdoor open.
Freedom! A smile of pure delight graces your face.
“(Y/N)! Just wait a second!”
It is Draco in all of his death eater glory.
It’s also your ex.
You didn’t think anything could hurt more than when he dumped you with a cruel smile on his face for Pansy Parkinson September of this year, but you thought he at least loved you a little bit. Clearly not.
You crawl out of the passage and into Honeydukes, the silent calm of the candy store perfect to your application of the three D’s of apparating.

“Excuse me? I’m actually pretty great at apparating when I can focus Malfoy!”
In a breath you’ve disarmed him and point your wand at him.
“Why did you follow me death eater?” you ask.
“(Y/N)! I’m not evil!”
“Yeah well obviously not,” you say, gesturing to the tattoo on his arm.
“Actually,” you say, “I don’t know why I should keep you here. I’m going to send you back to Hogwarts because for some reason I don’t want to kill you. Bye Draco, it wasn’t very nice knowing you.”
“Wait wait! Hold on!” he yelps as you prepare to cast on him.
“What,” you say, annoyed.
“It’s just- I didn’t follow you here to report you,” he says.
He flounders for words.
“Well, spit it out,” you say.
“(Y/N), I broke up with you to protect you. I thought the Carrows wouldn’t find out you were a muggle-born as fast, and if I was cruel you wouldn’t be suspected. (Y/N), you changed me, remember? I thought muggle-borns were trash and useless before I met you. I knew I couldn’t escape. I thought I could give you a better chance . . . ” he trails off.
Outside you are stoic, but inside you are shaking. The truth you’ve built your anger around is false.
“Then why did you follow me if you so badly wanted to leave me?”
You’ve lowered your wand and tears are stinging your eyes.
“Because I realized I was stupid. I can’t live as a death eater and I can’t live without you.”
You drop his wand and rush to Draco as Draco rushes to you.
You hug him and you feel more complete than you have felt since last year.
“(Y/N)” Draco breathes, “I’d follow you anywhere.”
