Are they good at handling children?

Valentino - Absolutely! He somehow makes every kid want him as their parent.

Orion - sort of? He’s very good but awkward, he ends up doing good though.

Rufus - surprisingly not that bad, he might not do THAT good, but he at least keeps them alive and makes them feel free.

Mateo - yes! He’s very awkward about it though, afraid he will mess up even though he doesn’t the entire time.

Alano - Very good! Kids might get scared a little considering he’s the Death-Cast heir (if their family is anti Death-Cast, but he’s amazing!

Paz - Actually very good! He’s afraid he’ll mess up or “corrupt them” but he never ends up doing either!

Matt is a very curious and adventurous boy who is also accident prone as hell.

Mateo has to keep a close eye on him because kid will try jumping or climbing anything he see’s. Rufus just thinks Mateos just being overly cautious as always until one day Matt almost breaks his arm jumping off the playground slide.

I just finished this book that my best friend lent to me since it's her fave, and i LOVED it!!! Finished it in a week and I got so attached to the main characters, Mateo and Rufus. Even tho we already know they both die at the end (it's literally in the title) I just wanted them to live so bad and for longer too, my babies... I NEED to but the other books!

Ughhh okay I just finished the survivor wants to die at the end I’ll hage to wait like forever for the next one. BUT I want to see what other people think the secret is! And the only one I found I could debunk in two seconds.

So the theory was that it doesnt work but they’ll live their life recklessly so they die anyways but Mateo died because he never got the oven fixed. Maybe he was going to call to get it fixed but he probably would forget and still die in the fire. Rufus and Vale dont really have that but Paz probably was always going to shoot his dad.

It’s not really a whole theory but I theorize that Joaquine has managed to tap into fate.

In their universe every single person, from the second they’re born, is assigned a date where they will die. Like everybody has a date they’re destined to die on that’s assigned to them when they’re born and ONLY when they’re born. That’d explain why death cast can’t predict miscarriages.

As for how exactly they managed to tap into fate I got no clue
