“I want it so ima go get it..”
New video from the beautiful Jenny Bapst, as featured by AfroPunk last week.
We attended her video premiere party at Sweetwater Social last week, which included the likes of Russell Simmons, DJ Stretch Armstrong, Waymon Arnette, Jamael Lynch, Callistus Oniyuke, several fashion models and many others. We love the video and look forward to seeing what she has up her sleeve next.

Footage from the Soho House Hackathon powered by 3beards and Yahoo!, in which our very own Brandon Buchanan (and CoD friend, Chris Dannen) appeared as a judge.
"I ain't got it, I'm coming after whoever who has it!! I'm coming after whoever, who has it?!" ~ Kanye West
Last Saturday, I judged my first hackathon. It took place at the Soho House in New York City, and was sponsored by Yahoo! and 3Beards. The objective was to have developers create apps that best incorporated New York's core industries: Financial Services, Fashion, Media, etc. using Yahoo's APIs. It was amazing to see the variety of ideas and polished products that the participants were able to put together in 24 hours. One group, 'Cash Money Records', came up with the idea to convert stock market metrics (i.e., price, volume, etc.) into sound. Another, 'A Stitch In Time', created an app that operated like a photo-roulette, pulling photos into a grid and giving a snapshot of your surroundings, past and present. The winner, 'Chill Zone', reverse engineered the "heat map" of where people are checked in so that individuals/patrons could see where they could go, relax, and avoid crowds. Fun way to spend a Saturday, right? Thanks to Yahoo!, 3Bears, and the Soho House for having me. And, special thank you to Chris Dannen for including me.

And this is why we dream. About tea and photographs. About slow motion and black and white grain. Cause we know it's real out here. That for every time we've been misunderstood, an equally charming stranger was out there missing where we stood. Lately, I've been feeling like I could always go a moment less without earbuds. Fresh out the cave, I'm just trying to colour my world with blood orange choices and lemon laughs. Watermelon smiles on top of caviar cool. Don't let me get in my groove with you. Don't let this dream come true, my muse? Cause then it's "game over."

A couple of weeks back, I had the pleasure of interviewing Peter Thiel alongside my friend and FastCompany writer, Chris Dannen. It was a thrilling experience for me, personally, and Peter was as insightful and thought-provoking as one would imagine. You can read the outcome of the interview, here.
I wanted to share the following comment that Peter gave, which wasn't included in the FastCo write up:
“You don’t want ideas to get shot down, instantly. And so, so there is always this dynamic; there’s a tech/business version: I’d like people to work on more breakthrough technology companies. And then, the question is ‘why aren’t more people doing that’? Is it that they don’t have ideas? Is it subjectively hard to do it? My theory is that there are actually a lot of really good ideas out there, but people sort of get discouraged from them. And, there are all these social cues people pick up on that discourage them from pursuing them.”
He's right. Don't be a victim of your fears. And, certainly, don't be a victim of others who attempt to deter you from creating (and manifesting your dreams) because of their own limitations. It's the only way to go from zero to one.
