Being friends with internet celebrities, how? - the thought of the day
Am I the only one somewhat frustrated when trying to meet someone online? Especially if they are internet celebrities?
Let me try to explain myself. Lately, I've been watching some youtubers and for some of them, I started to think "he/she seems like a cool person, I would like to meet them". But when I think of this, it's not because they are famous and have a famous youtube channel so if I'm their friend I'll probably also be famous. NO. At least that is not the case for me (yeah right).
I always treat everyone as a human being. I don't care if you are a celebrity or not, I'll just treat you like everybody else. When I meet you, if you are a cool person to hang around with, then I'll spend time with you and try my best to keep you in my life. Otherwise, I'll just never take the initiative to talk with you again.
That's how I see youtubers, regular people just doing their job for which some of them I appreciate their work. And based on the work of some youtubers, I identify myself in them and because of that, I start to gain some interest in them. That's when I start to think "yeah, I want to meet them and hopefully be friends."”
Now, the frustration part in here is this: I actually have no problem in starting a conversation with people online, but if they are somewhat of a celebrity, then it becomes difficult.
It becomes hard to find the person's private accounts, and if you do find it and send a message to them just saying "hey! I've seen some of your videos and you are really cool! I would like to develop a friendship between us" they'll probably think you are another hysterical fan and also a stalker and they won't answer to your message. Maybe even block you. FYI, I never did this before (yeah right), it's just me assuming what might happen.
JUST TO BE CLEAR: I am not a stalker (that's what stalkers say right?) or hysterical fan (that's what hysterical fans say right?), I'm just a regular person here (yeah right) who genuinely would like to meet someone who happen to be a youtuber.
And honestly, taking into account the countries we live in (they live in America or England or whatever and I do not live there), how else would I meet them besides youtube??
