The Joltik That Saved Alola
This is just a little something I wanted to share with you all regarding THIS LITTLE BUNDLE OF JOY!
I was playing Pokemon Ultra Sun and was about to face Ultra Necrozma. He was a beast and a half, and I had a party of 5 playables and an egg that contained a Popplio.
A Lucario I named Blu [Assault Vest]
(Aura Sphere, Flash Cannon, Psychic, Dragon Rage)
A Ninetales (Alolan) I named Aurora [Wise Glasses]
(Blizzard, Ice Beam, Dazzling Gleam, Hail)
A Decidueye (That I forgot to name, so I kept him as Decidueye) [Spell tag]
(Foresight, Spirit Shackle, Leaf Blade, Razor Leaf)
A Rapidash I named Nightshade [Shell Bell]
(Bounce, Smart Strike, Flare Blitz, Flame Wheel)
And finally, this dude. [Quick Claw]
(Signal Beam, Electro Web, Electro Ball, Volt Switch)
Everyone was either a level below 60 or right at, EXCEPT FOR THIS BUG (35-ish, since I didn’t want to evolve it).Â
Anyway, when I finally encountered Necrozma in a flash of light, Blu was the first one up. He shot a few Aura Spheres at them while he shot a Photon… Photon Star I think it was at me. I barely got his health below three quarters when Blu fainted.
I next sent out Joltik by mistake. He actually survived and had 1 HP when I used Volt Switch and did diddly squat to the dude.
Decidueye was also a mistake on my part, as I wanted to send out Nightshade, but I rolled with it and used Spirit Shackle. Super effective. I was hoping he was a Dragon type, but I wasn’t sure. I kept at it and tried to take him down more and more, but I stopped halfway.
Now may be a good time to explain what items I had on me. I was a dumbass and forgot to buy any revives other than the two that I had on me. I didn’t want to waste any of my healing because Necrozma would’ve make n amount of healing stuff be taken away and I’d be right where I started when I did so.
So I then swapped to Aurora, the dragon killer, who died almost instantly. I revived Blu during that final turn and kept on whaling as Decidueye. When they both died, I only had enough for a Smart Strike with Nightshade.
Here’s the thing: I had reduced it to 1 HP after reviving to Aurora one last time. And that was it. Aurora fainted right there as I landed that last hit.
My nerves were shook. I was trembling. First attempt I was about to get a game over to a dragon that was about to take all the light of Alola for himself. I threw out the ball of the only guy I had left in my aresenal: Joltik
He’s a fun Mon. Cute and small. Likes to pull a few pranks and laughs pretty heartily. But this Pokemon, this Joltik, when they came out of the ball, they turned back to the trainer as they always did when summoned out of their ball. That cute face was still there, but there was something else in it. A new type of… of fury that I had seen maybe in myself in several instances. It was ready to overcome the challenge and try to do their best for me, their trainer.
So I called them to use the one move that could do the most damage for someone with their speed, Electroball. I could have sworn I heard it laugh when the Quick Claw item came into play and let them go first. He fired it at Ultra Necrozma and destroyed its being in a single shot. A single bullet.
A bug that’s barely the size of an electrical socket beat a dragon made of pure light that’s about 10 stories tall. He dealt the final blow.
I don’t know about you all, but this bug - no, this Joltik - Is now going to stay in my party and become the true champion in this entire endeavor. Again, let me emphasis this: THE WEAKEST OF THE ENTIRE SQUAD SAVED ALL OF ALOLA. If that’s not a David and Goliath story, then I don’t even know what is.Â
Hope you enjoyed my little story. I may implement this into @askkeokeoandco story at some point, but I’m VERY psyched that this actually happened. That Joltik deserves a feast.
Have my child. He’s precious and he’s mine. I shall cherish him.
