I don't think people understand how bad healthcare is going to get in the trump administration from home health to congregates to nursing homes to rehabs to medical facilities to hospitals. If you think its bad now. It will be worse. As LVN studying for their NCLEX-RN.
California like the rest of the states are understaffed in healthcare professionals and workers.
Who are the custodians in hospitals/skilled nursing facilities or healthcare facility? Who keeps the hospitals and nursing homes and medical facilities clean? Who are CNAs, LVNs and Nurses? Your NP? Your doctors? Enough time passed some people have nurses, doctors that have DACA. Or the person who cares and makes sure your grandparent takes their meds and doesn't fall. Are they undocumented? Sometimes yes. Who are the cooks in hospitals and in healthcare facilities?
You think you got bad care before? It's going to get worse. Think costs.
You think you were waiting in ER forever- we will get even more understaffed. And it be a longer wait. They going to have to triage patients to even get seen.
More pressure sores, more infections because people will be spread thin.
You think hospitals bills/medical bills were expensive before just wait until hospital or medical suppliers has to pay tariff on the supplies.
Just because the hospitals food looks the same it won't cost the same. Wait until they pay tariffs on the food they give the patients. Or when the farmers have to pay their workers more and find enough to replace their previous ones. So the food cost more. Who they passing that over too? You the consumer.
Where do hospitals get their supplies? Not just their machines or the replacements parts? Their ink? The paper? Not including the bottles that come in medicine. What about the gloves? The needles? The chucks? The plastic for catheters? The bags?
All those costs that are now going to be higher for hospital- will include a increase in your medical bill and no your insurance will most likely not cover it.
And you think when you call the health department, the state on your hospital or medical facility or nursing home that's caring for dear loved one because they have a pressure sores and has infection bc they been sitting in their poop bc nobody cleaned them because they now have 15 patients just remember the state probably getting flooded with calls just like yours because the healthcare will be terribly understaffed.
Just wait until the hospital tries to prevent this so they don't get fined and so now they will triage patients so it will be more difficult to see a doctor and a nurse to treat you. And no you won't get the same care you would have it will not be as good. And it will cost more.
Don't get me started on WHO and health regulations and public health funding initiatives. Or trump's health plan.
I would recommend everyone to go get physical. Get your labs done. Eat healthier. Improve your lifestyle. Work on your mental health. Workout. Move around. Take your vitamins and medicine. Drink water. Wash your hands. Put on sunscreen. Don't smoke or drink. Or limit it. Because if you can prevent it please do. Now is not the time to get sick.
And you know what sucks about all of this. I voted for everyone. I voted for my patients to not find out. But many fucked around. And now- it's going to hurt everyone.
It's going to be felt hardest in those impoverished communities, in the red states, in rural areas and the most vulnerable of populations.
And I don't wish bad health on anyone but sometimes people need to get a hard lesson to truly understand and be empathetic and I wish it wasn't like that.
