“That is true, and I am very bias about it” she would always take Adam’s side on it. She had seen how he had suffered, and with what she knew of his father, it simply hadn’t been fair or right for him to then be punished for surviving. She hated the Enchantress for that. “It is one of the better things about this place” and she would still fight to leave it. “I wasn’t cursed, or magical. I simply went there to find my father. I don’t think that’s a big part of the story”. 

“We are always bias when it comes to the ones that we love.” There was nothing wrong with that. Not really. She herself was certainly bias, and would do anything for the one that had stolen her heart so many years ago, even if she knew he might never feel the same. “You going there to save your father likely isn’t the big part of the story. But what happened while you were there?”

“You might think I’m more intelligent then I am” he pointed out. How could he be? He could barely even read, a few words he knew but most of it was just lines on paper. “The people who want it think they’re doing the right thing, just doesn’t turn out how they plan” he knew Lenin had once thought he was in the right, he wondered if he planned for Russia to get worse. “How can it be? Everyone has settled into normal capitalist ways”. 

“Maybe,” she shrugged. “Or you might just be doubting yourself.” Sometimes, people had a clearer perspective when it came to looking at other people, rather than themselves. “Oh, I’m sure they do,” she shrugged. It wasn’t as though Lex knew he was in the wrong, and he’d never accepted that he was no matter how many people tried to tell him. “Meanwhile, the people who would actually do the right thing just sit and watch in the shadows, trying to make a difference without becoming a public figure.” His question was answered with a shrug. “I don’t know. I’ve not been here long. Forgive me for thinking there might be some sort of reasoning to all of this.”

”Where the hell am I?” She asked. Zara had just arrived on the island, she was completely confused as to how she even got here. “What the hell is this place?”

“I’m afraid people only seem to know it as The Cursed Island,” Sif shrugged. “I’ve been searching for more answers, but they do not seem to exist.”

“oh yes, blue became their national flag, isn’t that brilliant?” he smiled thinking about it. he always loved influencing others, bringing more life and vibrancy in. he missed his tardis so much right now, this had been the longest he was away from it, she was most likely dormant in the last place he was. he had just dropped everyone off after the battle with the daleks, after he erased donnas memories. he shook that away and looked at her “me too,” he said with ease. he couldn’t help it, he loved flying people away. he really hated being alone. “actually, it’s bigger on the inside,’ he grinned. 

“That’s rather something,” she chuckled. “You must have made quite an impression for them to honour you so highly!” That wasn’t difficult to imagine. The man was intriguing, to say the least, and she doubted one would ever get bored in his presence considering the amount of stories it seemed he had to share. “Bigger on the inside?” she blinked, an amused smile playing at her lips. “Like, Mary Poppins’ bag?” The film had been a favourite of hers as a child, and the scene where the woman pulled a whole assortment of items from an ordinary looking carpet bag had always been one she loved.

“I definitely like weird better,” Jay nodded with a hum. “Normal is boring. I feel like no one normal has any fun ever. They care too much about what other people think of them, you know?” 

“Actually, I do,” she laughed. “It’s like everyone is so worried about what other people think that they don’t actually do anything they really want to do.”

“No it does not” she repeatedly softly. “Perhaps. I am not saying that he was a good man before, he wasn’t. But that punishment… well in truth, I do not think she had good intentions, not truly good ones” maybe if it was just Adam she might be able to understand it better, but instead she had done it to too many others. “I am sure of it. This island is full of the most amazing people” that was the upside to this place, about the only one. “Not really, I am just part of a bigger one”. 

“I can’t pretend to know either way, given that I do not know your husband, or this woman that you speak of.” She could always make an assumption of course, but she had learned a long time ago that it wasn’t wise to assume. “I look forward to meeting some of these people, then,” she smiled, although she had a feeling her definition of amazing may vary from the other’s. “I find that hard to believe. But then, I don’t think anyone who plays a big part in a story ever believe they do.”

“Doesn’t everyone? Else we’d all just be standing around saying umm and ahh?” then again he did know a few people who were like that, too many really. It wasn’t really this island, more people worrying if the person they were speaking to was a spy or not. St. Petersburg was a dangerous place to live. “They’re the ones who get it, nothing we can do about it, when you try to someone else who wants it then gets the power”. 

“You know what I mean,” Lena chuckled, rolling her eyes a little, but her expression sobered as their conversation went on. “It’s a vicious circle,” she nodded. “Those who could be trusted with that power don’t want it, and those who shouldn’t have it, do.” Her brother, for example, and so many like him. Never should they have been able to do the things they had. “Maybe one day someone will break the cycle. Maybe that’s what we’re doing here.”

“You know, that is a weird request, and normally I’d be saying no way, but considering how weird everything else has been lately, why not? I do expect an explanation though, either before or after, that’s your call.”

“There was a reason, he was hardly a good man beforehand. It was just… too much. Especially with the others, they had done nothing” well apart from leave him alone with his father, from the stories that had been unfair to do. But to be turned into objects for it and forgotten by their families… who could ever consider that? “I am trying to believe that, and trying to keep an open mind. It is not easy though, I haven’t really seen anything that has changed my mind” she wouldn’t stop looking though, not until she got answers. “I suppose so, it is not something that I’ve had to handle yet”. 

“The punishment doesn’t always fit the crime though, does it?” Sif shrugged. “Perhaps she had good intentions, and meant no real harm, but she went about things the wrong way. I believe on Midgard you say that ‘the road to hell is paved with good intentions’?” That was certainly one Midgardian proverb that Sif could certainly agree with. “I am sure around here you will find someone who uses magic for good.” There seemed to be all sorts of people on the island, from what she’d seen. “One day you will, perhaps. It sounds like you have quite the story to be told.”

“No, weird can be really cool,” he smiled. He considered himself pretty damn weird, and none of his friends were very normal. But he liked them all. He was happy. “Curious is definitely a good word for it. This place is confusing.”

“Sometimes I think weird is better,” she admitted with a small chuckle. “Ordinary might work for some people,” and it had certainly worked for her once, “but weird... it keeps life interesting, doesn’t it?” Now she couldn’t imagine being just a normal girl, not being able to do the thing she could do. “It seems it. But I’m looking forward to exploring.”

“Everyone only does things because they have to” he pointed out. If he didn’t have to steal then he wouldn’t, not anymore. Maybe once he had wanted nothing more then to be rich, now that was the last thing on his mind. “Even more reason not to do it. I’m many things, and whilst I am proud of who I am, I am also aware that most of those things are bad. But those only affect me. The billionaires… their choices affect thousands. I don’t want that power”. 

“You really have an answer for everything, don’t you?” Though her lips curved wryly as she spoke, there was also a chuckle in her voice. This man, whoever he was, might have been opposite from her in so many ways, but in wit she felt they were well matched, and that, she had to admit, surprised her. “Knowing a choice you make affects so many...” she broke off with a shrug. “Anyone who does want that kind of power is probably someone who should never have it.” Her brother, for example.

“I know. But you know sometimes that’s not a bad thing.” Her running out on her wedding and ending up in New York had happened fast, but it had been the best thing she’d ever done.

Rachel’s Pin

Whilst walking past an antique store one day with Ross, Rachel noticed a pin in the window which was just like one her grandmother had owned when Rachel was a little girl. She pointed this out to Ross, and a few months later was shocked to find he had gone back and bought it for her, gifting it to her for her birthday. As she and her friends spoke about the pin, Chandler accidentally let it slip that Ross was in love with her, prompting Rachel to contemplate her own feelings while Ross was away on a trip.

“My husband… my friends… all of them, they were hurt by it, for years. It makes it very hard to trust when that is all you know it to have done. And for no real reason… there was a crime, but their punishment did not fit” she knew Adam had been cruel before, but still, to be cut off from the outside world and turned into a beast… no, that he hadn’t deserved. “I don’t think she was bad. It’s a complicated story really, I don’t truly understand why she did it” none of them did, it was all for a rose. “I would, if my story existed here, I’d love to read it”. 

“If she hurt them for no reason then she wasn’t good,” Sif countered. “At least not entirely.” People could do the wrong thing for the right reasons, and it wasn’t hard to imagine that this young woman could be somewhat bias given that the people in question were so dear to her. “I have seen magic do some wonderful things, it is truly not something to be feared until it is in the wrong hands.” She nodded thoughtfully. “On some level I imagine it can be quite interesting to read what others believe, but it could also be quite irritating if they have got important details wrong.”

he laughed “oh they were confused, but excited seeing another colour,” he grinned thinking back to the time. oh how he missed his tardis. “well, if I ever get my ship, maybe one day i can take you back and let you meet her, she is really great,” he smiled. “oh, it would provide us all a way, everyone on this island could fit in it.” he said thinking about his beautiful tardis. “alas, it’s not here.”

“I don’t suppose it inspired them to bring a little more colour to their town?” Lena asked, laughter still present in her tone. Her expression brightened slightly at the thought of being able to meet Judy Garland. Admittedly some part of her, the logical part, thought the notion quite ridiculous; the woman had been dead for almost half a century after all, yet there was something about the way the man spoke that made her believe he wasn’t making his stories up. “I’d like that.” If it didn’t happen, if it really was a story, she would accept it, but if the opportunity arose then she would grab it with both hands. “Everyone on this island? It must be a rather large ship, then!” There were an awful lot of people around. “That is definitely unfortunate.”

“ yeah, it’s been my home all my life. ” mavis agreed with a smile, looking over at the blonde. “ you were going to vacation there? ” she asked softly. 

“Sort of,” she nodded. “My family and I have been travelling the world. Romania was on the agenda, and of course we can hardly visit there without checking out Transylvania.”
