He could almost feel another lecture coming….

"Don’t panic. Pretty sure she’s not going to hand me over to the authorities. She listened. She was polite… but in the end also pretty swift to see me out the door.  Probably thinks I’m a little bit of a harmless nut.” The once wooden boy added with a hint of mirth.

Jefferson's chuckle easily reached a full blown laugh, before he tried to keep it all silent.  The fool was actually relying on the blue bitch for help.  He didn't know whether to continue laughing or smack the poor boy upside his head for his stupid plan.  The one he called Blue has always known what world they were from.  They just couldn't bothered to help

"Rest assured . . . she won't rat you out.  But make no mistake . . . she remembers.  She remembers . . . ALL of it.  I just can't decide . . . is she too much of a coward . . . or too responsible for it all, to take it?"  Jefferson decidedto take a chance, even if it meant making a fool of himself.  Because the one thing this word needed to know, involved the blue fairy.

Alice blinked a moment before responding. "Al-I mean Joanna. My names Joanna. Nice to meet you." She smiled. 'You almost gave him your real name. What's wrong with you?' She thought. "So what's so special about the booth?" She asked trying to distract herself.

"That's a . . . lovely name.  Joanna.  You strike me as a  . . name completely different, from the expected."  Jefferson choked on the words forcing himself t remember.  She' never been his, regardless of what he'd remembered.  She wasn't anyone's . . . so why had h been so focused on it, on her.

"So . .  . empty booth?  Seems almost . . . sad."  Jefferson felt the answering whisper trailing off even as he admitted it.  No matter how had h tried, he couldn't bring himself to admit it .  . . he was lot without Steve.

Alice looked at him confused. "The-the booth?" She asked furrowing her brows. She relaxed a little. At least his personality hadn't changed. She crossed her arms over her chest and moved all her weight to one foot. "And how do you propose to get it out of the restaurant Mr...?" She realized she hadn't learned his name.

"Well I hadn't gotten that far . . . I was rather hoping you might . . . help?"  Jefferson couldn't resist the chuckle that escaped.  Regardless of being cursed, she seemed to be still Alice.  Jefferson couldn't resist sidling up to her with a wink.

He gentling wrapped her cheeks in his hand before dropping them..= "Jefferson.  My name is Jefferson.  It's an honor, regardless."

"Are you the bloke I'm supposed to talk to about portals?"

"I may know a bit about portal jumping. Any particular destination in mind?"

Mina wasn’t in the mood for ‘may know’ and ‘possibly help’, she’d been travelling for two weeks in hopes of catching a portal jumper,  ”I’m looking for a place called the Enchanted Forest.”

Alice had been working since 8:00 that morning. It was almost noon now and in an hour or two she could go home to Dinah. As she cleaned off a couple of tables she thought about that. Dinah was nice company for a cat but the blonde had begun to grow lonely. She had no friends here, all the men acted as if she was invisible, and there was no dating life to speak of. As she was lost in her thoughts she heard the bell to the door go off. “Just take a seat and I’ll be right with you.” Alice said to the unknown customer. She picked up a couple of plates to bring to the kitchen and took a quick glance to see who it was. Alice stopped in her tracks as her eyes fell upon the man who walked in. Hatter she mouthed before finally realizing what she was doing. He wouldn’t know who you are Alice. Even if he did recognize you from Wonderland there’s still the curse. He’s forgotten you Alice. A voice in the back of her mind told her. Alice gulped and then quickly ran to the kitchen to get rid of those plates. Then she walked up to the table he sat at, her hands shaking. “H-hello, Sir. What can I get for you today?”

Jefferson should’ve known, the second he’d been able to leave the mansion that had been his prison it wouldn’t end well.  For so long he’d held on to a vague hope that maybe, perhaps Rumple had been able to hold onto his old identity.  To hear his old friend treat him as nothing more than another tenant had shattered that dream.  His last hope for any chance of ending it … . the voice trapped in his head.  Gone.  He knew he’d lost everything then.

He spotted Granny’s diner in the distance and shrugged to himself.  What did he have to lose at this point that wasn’t already gone?  He moved towards it, lifeless, felt the ding of the bell before it closed behind him. "just take a seat and i’ll be right with you."  His world was color again, the bleakness of this world wiped away in an instant.  But she didn’t know him.  She didn’t remember him.  That was quite possibly the worst curse imaginable. “I-I … coffee?  With a vanilla swirl”  Jefferson managed to choke the words out, with barely a sigh.

Alice nodded chewing her lip and walked back to the counter to make his coffee. She was surprised he didn’t order tea. In a trance she made his coffee. That was Hatter. Her Hatter who had walked in the door, and he had no idea who she was. Every couple of seconds she would glance back at him to see what he was doing. When she finished his order she returned to the table, her hands still shaking. She wanted to cry. He would never know she was standing right here. He would never know it was Alice. The name Joanna was stitched on her uniform. But that was a fake name. One she gave herself when she realized what had happened. That’s all he would know here as now. As she made it back to the table she set his coffee down gently, careful no to spill it. Clearing her throat she said, “Will-Will that be all for you sir?” She shoved her shaking hands behind her back as she spoke.

Jefferson watching her, watched as she filled his order without a single hesitation.  It reminded him of that absurd Disney adaptation of the story.  Joanna.  That was her name here, but it didn't suit her, not his Alice.  He'd lost track of how many years they would have to go.  Before those he needed would remember.  He traced every inch of her, forcing himself to remember.

"This booth." he finally called to her, this Joanna who was his Alice but not  He needed the connection, he needed to know it was there, even if she didn't. "I rather like it.  I don't suppose you'd know what I'd have to do . . . to keep it."

" Wait, so you’re telling me that there’s portals everywhere, but people just don’t notice?" She replied curiously. The only magic she’d ever known of, was Elsa’s ice powers and the trolls…she knew nothing of portals, and honestly she kind of wanted to know more. 

" Well, this is the first party we’ve ever had in years…well…ok second, but I don’t count the first one, even though I should but I don’t and…I’ll stop." Said Anna, noticing she was doing it again.

"And to any land you wish . . . well, save one."  Jefferson had begun gleefully, until he was inadvertantly reminded of Rumple's greta quest to find the land with no magic.  Why anyone would want to travel to such a dull world, he didn't know.

"Oh, were you a party-crasher?  Nothing to be ashamed of.  Why just last month a crashed the coronation of a queen in the enchanted forest."  Jefferson told the young woman with a sly grin.  He'd rather enjoyed the looks on their faces before they screamed for the guards.  Amusing, the whole time.

"Oh, yes, yes, dearie.  You see there are infinate worlds all pressing against one another.  Sometimes a little bit too hard . . . . causes a rrrrrippp. And portal.  You just have to know what to look for . . . and have the abilitiy to access it."  Jefferson advised the young lady even as he looked around, his eyes, wandering to where he could swear he saw a man talking to a . . . deer, of some kind? Except, the animal didn't seem to be answering him.

"Do you have . . . touched people in your land as well?"  Jefferson asked the royal, nodding his head in the direction of the fellow who was now holding a full conversation with himself.

  August had his own plans… or rather… hopes for a feathered friend to carry his post to Neal when the time was right. If his transformation continued he’d sense- then hear more and more of the animal’s chatter just as the wooden boy once did. A feathered postman was already considered. However if Neal’s fears of his own father were not assuaged then one probability remained. Postcard ignored. Though perhaps he should not judge the Neal harshly? Rumpelstiltskin was no Geppetto and as of yet August himself had been too afraid to even approach the good hearted repair man the town knew as Marco lest he loose it and break down in tears or something else inappropriate with 'strangers'...

The once immediate requirement to find Emma tonight- no matter what -was taking a side-stage in Booth’s brain to the long term benefit of reuniting what was once broken- coupled with the added benefit of accessing the powerful, yet seemingly neutral force of Rumpelstiltskin and turning him to allegiance with Emma and whatever White Hats this town had left. Fixing a transformation problem should be cake for the Dark One. A new sub-quest was forming in the partly wooden man’s mind and it wouldn’t take much encouragement to refocus him. 

"Like his dagger? The dagger?”

"Well, you couldn't very well face the dark one himself on your own, could you?  He'd gut you like a fish if you did, dearie."  Jefferson advised the other with a thirwl of his hands.  He leaned back against the couch wondering if he dared . . . but no, he had never been one to cross Rumple in the enchanted forest.  He was much too clever to do that, let alone make deals with him.  Of course that didn't stop him from sending other's Rumple's way-a certain young queen came to mind

"Wresting control of the dagger from the dark one, himself.  Quite the doup, that would be, but you'd have to come to him in the guise of someone he'd trust, wouldn't you?"  Jefferson suggested to the other man tilting his head as he offerred a smile.

  "Well, that would be on account of my sister Elsa, she’s returned from a long journey and…well.. to celebrate, we’re having some fun in the snow. I know it’s a bit odd, but it’s really fun!" She exclaimed excitedly, though she wondered just why he talked in limericks. 

"Wait, Portal? As in magic portal?" She asked in confusion.

"A most unique way of celebrating, for sure.  In my world, the wealthy would merely throw a ball, everyone else would hit the pubs."  Jefferson whispered to the young woman with a conspiratorial air as he poked one of the ice statues, just to be sure it wasn't an allusion.  Rumple would most definately love to know this could happen and he'd certainly tell. . . for a price of course.

"Ah, portals, yes, yes.  You'd be surprised how easy it is to spot the doors.  Just need to know where to look.  Odd no one notices them, but, such mundain things, they are."

  "Yeah… she would target him. Your right. It’ll have to wait till after the curse is broken. It’s too dangerous. I think your wrong about Emma though. I think… I think Henry would be so ecstatic to meet his father that that joy would be contagious. That Emma would hopefully come round in time. Henry has a right to know his father and Neal has a right to even know he has a son. Hell I’d even face the dark one himself to achieve that…"

August was getting a little frustrated. Damn the madman’s logic. It was getting in the way of the wooden boy’s naive hopes for a complete happy ending. 

"I guess not. I just wish I could fix it…"

"You could always send him a post card . . . I'm sure the charming Ms. Blanchard could loan you a bluejay, assuming she's still with us when the end comes."  Jefferson said, tolting his head slightly.  He could almost swear he heard the sounds of the pixie-haired woman moving about, but no.  He'd learned a thing or two about knots in the 28 years he'd spent in this land, plotting ways to take back his daughter from the imposters.

Jefferson couldn't resist raising his eyebrows at the other man's mention of the dark one himself.  He was fairly certain he would pay to see the wooden man even try going up against Rumplestiltskin.  He wondered how fast it would take to turn the man into a puppet again, or whether he'd just turn him into a flower to give his not so departed Belle?

"Yes, well, I wouldn't advise going up against the esteemed Mr. Gold.  Not unless you're sufficently . . . armed, as it were."

  "Oh! hi uh…um hi!" Exclaimed Anna, immediately hopping up to her feet, with a small nervous chuckle. She extended a hand out to the man, who she’d honestly never seen here before..and strangely enough, it was as if he’d appeared out of nowhere. Well…in a way he had hadn’t he? She didn’t see him there just a moment ago, and she’s never seen him around Arendelle either. 

"I’m Anna, um..not to be rude Mr….um…sir, but what brings you to Arendelle..if you’re new to Arendelle, oh my gosh maybe you’re not or..um…sorry." Said Anna, with a small chuckle. Recalling how she was rambling once again.

"What's this?  What's this!  With the ice, and the freezing and I was promised not snow.  Not snow and not Snow, brat of child that she is.  But why is there snow?"  Jefferson babbled as he was pulled to his feet to find himself staring at a young woman, dressed for the snow, not like him.  But he had been promised not snow.  He would have joined Victor if he had wanted snow.

"Yes, hello.  Jefferson . . . mad man with a portal . . . and oh.  Oh there's so much snow.  When did your land change to have snow?"  Jefferson asked the young lady as he looked around and oh good lord, they had ice arches and was that.  He did a doubletake.  A tiny ice man with food stuffs attached to him?
