Evaluation

My personal opinion of my movie trailer is that it is pretty terrible. I know many things that I could improve. For example, I could have changed the song that I used so it worked a little better with what i did. If I could have spent more time on it I could have improved a lot more then what I had done. 

Trojan is the title that I went with. When i came up with it I thought it was a good idea and it could have been a good idea if I showed in the trailer why it was called that. I didn't lay out the trailer very well so it was very hard to understand what was going on. I only noticed this after we had watched all of them. Many people made it clear what it was about whereas mine just looked like I was randomly torturing somebody for no reason. If I was to do it again I would make sure it made sense on what was happening.

Sheeps Films is the publisher that I went with. The logo took me a long time to come up with the idea although it is very simple. It is mean’t to be film camera but with the body of a sheep.

I used many effects in my trailer. Near the beginning I added a colour filter which made the area look as if it was in the middle of autumn. Like a classic autumn scene from a film. I also added a lot of fades like fade in’s and fade out’s in between each scene. The fade effect was also used to create the effect that the camera/viewer was blinking at one part of the trailer.

The use of text was to express what the story was to be about but the way it was represented made it seem to cheesy. I used a type of horror font that made it look like the font was decomposing. This is an another thing to show that it actually is meant to be a horror trailer if that wasn’t very noticable

Music used in the Trailer

In my trailer I used a creepy type of music found on a website that has free music. I made sure that the music went well with the different scene. For example, when the music makes a loud sound or changes tone it changes to a different scene.

I used a fade in and out for the production company name. This appears for about 3 seconds and disappears. The fade in and the fade out last about 1 second long so all together there is 2 seconds of fading and 1 second of full opacity.

When Trojan appears the music in the background increases and creates a big bang sound. This is to show an effect of the title appearing. I also added a few squares that were baby blue and added a subtract mode onto them. This allowed it to give the blood effect. This stays up till the film ends which ends about 2-3 seconds after it comes up.

Pablo Ferro created film titles for different films. One main film that he had created the title for was Beetlejuice. He creates typo kinetic animations for many titles. There is many other films that Pablo has created as well.

DON'T MOVE - Short Horror

This is a short film that i found on Vimeo. This film links with my movie tralier project that I am doing because this shows different elements that I could use in my movie trailer. The blood effects could be used in my trailer because I am going to base my trailer around torture. This type of film will or should involve blood or some sort of gory experience.

Throughout the project have created and uses lots of different things such as new tools in Photoshop like masking. I have also used AfterEffects and Illustrator. All of the software that i have used have different tools that i could used.

In Photoshop we started with cloning and i took a camera to a place and took many different picture of myself in different places without moving the camera. There are a few artists that do things like this. My design was different to many of the artists that create Photoshop clones because i added a couple of extra things like the rainbow on one of the people. I also had made a couple mistakes in my design as well. One of the people that are in my image didn’t have a shadow like the rest of them did also some of the trees colour were different.

I also used Illustrator which we used and tested the graphic tablet to see if we liked it. After using it for half a lesson i realised that i didn’t really like it that much. I created this design without a tablet after testing things with the tablet. This work was inspired by Hyemi Jeong, Kristian Mensa and Javier Perez. These three people all create different types of illustration. They all have their own style of working. My design was a mixture of all three of their styles.

In Illustrator, you can create your own type of brush if you want to by going to (above the canvas) brush definition > new brush. This allows you to create a custom paint brush.

I created an animation with pixel art and it got turned into a GIF. There is many artists that create pixel art such as EBOY and Paul Robertson. These artist both have their different styles of pixel art. For example, EBOY creates video game based pixel art and Paul Robertson creates things that may already exist then pixelates it. Their pixel arts are a lot more detailed then the ones that i had created. Although they are all pixel art they have more detail on their designs.

I created my pixel art in Photoshop and used the timeline setting to make it become an animation.

Typokinetic animations is another thing that we created. This was the first time that i had ever used AfterEffects. Typo kinetic animations is an animation that involves only using words and maybe a couple of objects. In these types of animations the words make up most of the animation and the words usually represent the animation that is happening. Many people on youtube and other websites create these types of animation and even many movie credits use some types of typo kinetic animations. 

Green screen effects are used a lot in films and i tested some types of animations with the use of green screen. For example, in this image it shows a robot and some fire which are all animated.

Javier Perez created the same type of stuff as Kristian and Hyemi and this is creating designs with real items in the work and drawing extra onto it. In Javior’s designs he uses different types of drawing equipment. For example, he uses pencil sometimes also uses finaliser on many of his designs. 

In the 2nd image that he has created, he doesn’t use an object in his design. He used his own body which the other 2 artists didn’t use. The other artists used items of some sort. In the first image his doesn’t use a proper item for his design whereas he uses the middle of his sketchbook.

Kristian Mensa was another artist that created art that included real items mixed with drawings. Kristian is different to Hyemi because he uses many different colours in his work. Kristian also used a game character in one of his designs as seen above. Hyemi uses different types of objects to what Kristian is using. For example, Kristian used food and entertainment for his designs.

The first image is of one of the face merges that i created and the other is one that an artist has created. My design was created very well seen as it was my first time doing a face merge. When we did it I used a new technique that i have never used before in Photoshop. This was using masks. This allowed you to slowly rub out the top image so you could see the 2nd image that was hidden below and it started to merge together.

My work compared to the artist’s work could have been better seen as i had some problems with mine. In my image you could see some errors where the merging happened or certain parts of the image would be faded slightly. The hair went okay and so did the eyes but the mouth and the nose were too far apart to make it look like a normal human also one of the people that were used to be merged had slight facial hair and it was faded in some parts as he was the only one with facial hair out of the 3 people used.

VFX and greenscreening is used a lot in films and videos. They use greenscreens to make it look like they are somewhere they are not. For example, at an airport they could greenscreen the actual airport but may just have the ground. They also use it with animations that they want to include. This is so they don't have to make an actual model. Many films that use fog/smoke to hide many of the greenscreen outlines. This is so the film looks professional once it's all rendered.

Pixel art has been used for a long time creating videogames such as super mario, mario or mega man. Also many games today that are being created use pixel art although most are 3D now. Pixel art is used for mostly games but can be used for images. The 2nd image shows the different sprites used in a game using pixel art.

When creating pixel art you need to use the pencil tool in Photoshop. This is because the pencil can go down to 1 pixel size which helps creating pixel art. Also many people when creating pixel art have a different size documents but we used 100 x 100 px documents.

Typokinetic Animations are animations that only use words and simple objects. This type of animation can be used for quotes from films, games and even things said in real life. Many types of Typokinetic Animations are used in creating credits for films and possible games. Creators use this to grab your attention. This type of animation has being used a lot lately and is still being used. Typokinetic Animations refers to the creation of moving text.

Hyemi Jeong is an artist that draws pictures and uses items that you could proberly find laying around your house to lighten up the picture. As you can see above, the two inages used are using a toothbrush and some sort of fruit. This artist is different from many others that i have researched because this artist is using real-life items. In her designs she is likely to use a fineliner.
