‘Temporary’ Names
Vet clinics often have litters of kittens to raise. Either they’re too young for a shelter, too sickly, or the clinic intends to adopt them out when they’re big enough. Whatever the reason, nurses often end up raising kittens and giving them ‘temporary’ names.
The intention of these temporary names is that if you give the kitten a stupid name, you have something to call it other than ‘the middle black male’, but because it’s a stupid name you wont get emotionally attached and end up keeping it. Again.
Which is how some nurses end up with cats that have names like ‘Flea bus’ and ‘Trash bag’.
Folks, I succumbed.
I ended up keeping Trash Bag.
He’s growing fast.
And getting into trouble
Happy post number 2500!
Tell Trashbag I love him
We love you Trashbag

This is almost definitely someone’s pet pigeon that just landed right on @sacculetta’s head and didn’t want to be much farther away from human contact than that. I guess we have a pigeon for now because none of the neighbors know whose he could be yet and apparently there’s no bird rescue in Portland that’ll take a pigeon in, pet or not.
Does anyone in the Portland area keep or want to keep a pigeon? We probably can’t at the very least because we don’t have a consistent sleeping schedule and birds really need a reliable day/night cycle.
It it isn’t banded, it may be a feral weanling.
They are all domesticated birds, and fear of people has to be learned.
Look up Palomacy.
They have a list of rescues and shelters by state.
Say no to stereotypes, be happy everyday! [x]
Cant reblog this enough
I love that this shows both sides, how society is ingrained to see women as baby-makers and men as walking wallets who’s only worth is if they make good cash. Both are equally demeaning and limiting in different ways.
give me the look that says “just wait until we’re alone”
