Any suggestions of books that might help family understand transitioning a little better? My parents really aren't understanding of my situation as much as they attempt to tolerate it, so talking to them is really difficult.

I’m not aware of any books, but there probably are some!  Hopefully some followers might have some recommendations that they can share!

If you do end up getting some then it might be worth “vetting” them first to make sure that they accurately represent your experiences of being trans as it is different for everyone.

This is more of an autobiography than anything, but it has a lot of good information as well as tips and advice for transgender men - I recommend Alex Bertie's book "Trans Mission: My Quest To A Beard"! I own it myself and my parents read through it to help them better understand everything.

I got a lot of questions about how I did the blur/depth/light thing with the #HIXTAPE art I drew so here is a quick step by step:

1) fully painted drawing, Hobi’s hands and head/chest are on two separate layers

2) adjusted crop and composition, I cropped in closer to Hobi and I adjusted his hands to be in a different position that emphasized the “H” more. Also used a low opacity layer set to multiply and used a dark blue/purple to add some soft shadows to his hands where the back light would not be hitting them

3) Used filter -> gaussian blur on the head/chest layer to push Hobi in to the bg. Also duplicated the hands layer and blurred that as well, and masked out most of it saving only the bottom of his arms to emphasize his hands

4) Added a multiply layer and used a dark purple for most of his face and chest, and a pitch black on the very bottom to fade that part out completely. Added a tiny amount of light on him by using hot pink and small yellow dust specs, setting the layer to Lighten, and setting the opacity of that layer to really low.

5) added text, and finished!

i’ve been reading a lot about it lately and yup, clinicians have established a link between a childhood diagnosis of adhd and the risk of also receiving a bpd diagnosis later in life. (for instance, one small german study noticed that 59,8% of the observed patients w bpd fitted the diagnostic criteria of childhood adhd!) it totally makes sense, too, if you ask me. especially since children w adhd are more likely to suffer abuse or emotional neglect because of their condition. this combined with genetic predisposition and you certainly get a ‘dangerous’ mix which could set you up for this path :/

I’ve actually known about the similarities for a while; a friend of mine, who was a nurse, has bpd and used to tell me a lot about how similar the symptoms are and how much she understood how I was feeling.

What I really hadn’t known was that the former made someone likelier to develop the latter. That scares me. BPD is fucking scary. My friend with BPD attempted suicide multiple times a year at her worst (though she is a lot better now).

yes! the similarities are actually really evident when you think about it. one doctor also suggested that one should be screened for both if one had a diagnosis for one thing because it could be misdiagnosed as such when it’s actually the other. or, as mentioned, comorbid. there have also been discussions whether stimulant medication could be an effective treatment for bpd as well. it’s all very interesting.  i’m glad your friend is doing better now, though!

yes, it is. but it’s something that’s highly comorbid with bpd. and of course one can have adhd and trauma at the same time without actually developing bpd. it’s just something that’s more likely to happen if you do happen to have a diagnosis

“Tucute” only has meaning in opposition to truscum/trandmedicalists. It is not an ideology. These are not the “roots” of anyone, whether @idislikecispeople was cis or trans—whether there is any truth to this post.

There were trans people without dysphoria before Tumblr—before you were even born, @cabinet-dude. At no point in the history of trans people has dysphoria been a requirement, whether by medical definition or by consensus of trans people. For may, whether a trans person had dysphoria or not was reflected in whether they called themselves ‘transsexual’ or ‘transgender’.

How do you explain the estrogen and pictures then? Also, if those screenshots were taken four years ago (probably even longer, since it’s been almost four years since I was truscum and she was idcp then), there’s the chance that she didn’t realise she was trans then. I didn’t realise I was trans until like three years ago. I don’t think she would call herself trans, get fake estrogen prescriptions, and take pictures of herself and photoshop them SO well that nobody could tell she was cis to prove she was trans unless she was trans. She even calls herself trans now and she isn’t even part of discourse anymore.

Alright so firstly estrogen can be perscribed to cis girls under certain medical circumstances, she’s a diabetic.

This isn’t the full post but I can link it if you wish, diabetes can effect estrogen and progesterone so it’s not entirely out of the question that that is the reason she was perscribed estrogen.

In the picture it shows that she is using a nickname variation of her female name, Samantha. If she doesn’t know she’s trans then why is she using that name?

As for the nudes part…It’s not really on my bucket list to see that but realistic packers do exist. Pretty fucked up that she was asked to go that far….
