the scene where thanos kills gamora is literally one of the most disgusting things ive ever seen in a movie. like how dare you show me an abusive person killing the woman he’s been abusing for years and frame it like i should feel sympathetic to HIM? fuck off
and then the NERVE of having the in-universe validation of getting the soul stone afterwards? throw the whole movie out
Before that scene I could believe that all the bullshit he was spouting about resource allocation was just a cover and his real motivation would make some kind of sense? But then the writers come out and say ‘everything he does and says is totally honest and he really believes in his goal enough to sacrifice everything’ and it goes from mediocre writing to absolutely fucking terrible writing.
I’m sorry but.
You thought Thanos was going to have some secret super rational motivation behind his ‘kill and kill and kill’ plan?
From Thanos the Mad Titan?
I’m just glad that they kept him entirely fucking consistent. His plan is stupid and insane, because HE IS INSANE.
It’s GOOD writing. He is ‘I will prove that I am right even if it costs everyone everything!’ personified, and every element of the story tells you that. EVERYONE will pay the price for his ego, even himself.
And that is what pure evil IS. He didn’t even stick around for subjugation of the universe or the acclaim he claimed he wanted. He achieved his goal and then retired to a farm in the middle of nowhere. Perfect EVIL HERO material. ‘The Greater Good’ taken to an absolutely monstrous extreme.
Villain characters are, surprise, evil
This post is fucking baffling. Villains do, you know, villainous things. They’re abusive. Isn’t it more narratively problematic to paint all villains as people who never actually have done anything wrong?
How much of a fucking smoothbrain do you have to be to watch that scene and think the purpose was to feel sympathy for Thanos? You were supposed to feel a chill, feel scared, like things got more serious. Because you realize he is totally serious, and is willing to make what seems, to him (because he’s evil and insane), to be a huge personal sacrifice for what he thinks is the greater good.
The purpose was to make you realize that’s he’s a monster, and a zealot, and will do whatever he can to achieve his goal.
OP’s a sociopath. They’re upset because when they watched that scene they empathized with Thanos but know that they’re not supposed to but refuse to consider it might be them

It’s hilarious how you pointed out how bad the writing is considering the scene didn't play out as the directors intended it.....
Athony: "we really wanted to make him (Thanos) a compelling relatable character." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLy-pvG0Sic&t=4m01s
Anthony: “We wanted to tell a story about a character with a really complex and empathetic interior life,” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgkTRJ-6FP0&t=31s
Anthony: "Even though he’s despicable on so many levels, there’s a part of Thanos that is very empathetic, ... He has a very complex inner life, and he’s not all bad.” https://www.indiewire.com/2018/05/avengers-infinity-war-thanos-marvel-vfx-oscar-josh-brolin-1201961113/
Steven Weintraub (Collider): "What was the process of figuring out where the soul stone would be considering the hype surrounding it?"
Joe: "It was, we knew that we needed to do something special with that stone but we knew that we also needed it to have an emotional connection to the plot and to Thanos as a character and it took us, I think that was the last stone that we figured out where it was because that was the hardest story to come up with and it was really, you know when, at a point where we decided that the movie was Thanos' movie we needed the, you know, the lowest moment of the film to belong to him and so that's when we started to develop the soul stone story. It was you know, how could we, how could we create pain how could we dimensionalize him so that he went on a journey in the film because if he was just this mindless villain it was going to become a two-dimensional story." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFuM1j1t7k0&t=40m18s

She did THAT
why are y'all surprised her father said that tho… that’s exactly what the norm is for our religion, anything else is extremism or false ideologies pushed onto our women by ignorant men who wish to control women.
