Sometimes I wonder if Percy ever thought of having a 'normal' life. Maybe in between fighting monsters and almost dying, perhaps just for a second, he imagined being back home, with his mom and a father who was always there for him and didn't so happen to be a literal Greek God. Where he didn't have to change schools regularly, worry about his best friends dying or see much of anything that to others, would be traumatic and scarring.
Then he wakes up from this and realizes his life is spectacular the way it is, and that he wouldn't have been the person he was if he in fact, did have a 'normal' life.
