I am a day late but I must commemorate International Cat Day! #internationalcatday confirms one thing — we have loved our cats since the beginning of time — or close to it. In fact, the Ancient Egyptians were the first civilization to harness the glory of the feline. Nearly 4,000 years ago, they domesticated our four-legged friends by keeping them near food stores. (This helped control vermin and other pests.) Cats quickly earned a reputation as great hunters, and later, Egyptians worshipped them as gods. Of course, if you’re a cat owner, you know that everyday is International Cat Day. They’re not about to let us forget.-- These were my little kittens back 8 years ago. They were found by LA County Sheriff Department and LA County Fire Department when mama worked for the Los Angeles Department of Emergency Management as a PIO. Left to right: Mary Claire, EJ Jr., Holden, and Chase. Mary Claire is still with Mama, EJ and Chase were adopted by a brother and sister soon after this photo was taken 9 yrs. ago and little Holden went to heaven after suffering with Muscular Dystrophy for 2 yrs. She passed right before I was adopted. #cat #cats #mustlovecats https://www.instagram.com/p/B09qWmvFY5b/?igshid=1otq7kxgwx14s
