The more decisions you make, the weaker your self control becomes. When your day is structured, your brain isn’t wasting energy on 100 small choices & it can actually focus on your goals
The fewer choices your brain has to make, the more energy you save for your goals, creativity, business, health, relationships etc.
Systems protect your discipline by reducing the number of decisions you have to make. That’s why you’ll see the most successful people have routines, set times for work, planned meals & habits they repeat daily. They are getting rid of micro decisions so that they are able to focus on bigger decisions
When something becomes a habit, the brain transfers it from the prefrontal cortex to the basal ganglia (automatic, low energy). That’s why routines feel like freedom, because they free your mind from the heavy lifting
