Victory- Sean Durzi x Clayton Keller

It was a rough game at first, It seemed like nothing was clicking and we were down by two by the time the first period was over. We went into the locker room, our heads hung low. As we sat down Coach came in to talk some sense into us and get us fired up. While he is talking I look over and see Clayton with his head down, clearly frustrated with how the game was going. Once Coach is done speaking Clayton gets up to address the team as captain and try to hype us up. Whatever he said hyped up the team, he was good at that, as we went out I went up and bumped gloves. It became sort of a tradition for me to bump gloves with everyone on the team after a nice win. We all hopedd that the game would end like that.

The second period went way better, we got our acts together and we were able to bring it 4 to 2 them. Still down by two but both JJ and Crouse got goals, Clayton was even able to get an assist on one of those goals. We went into the locker room a lot happier this time around, we were determined to make a comeback.

The third period was electric! We played hard and we came back with two electric goals, one coming from Keller in the final minutes of the game to tie it up and great playing on both sides of the ice. We go into the break before OT and we are all fired and ready to finish this comeback. We get one more fired up speech from Clayton before we get back onto the ice. We go out and play hard, being able to push onto the opposing team’s side of the ice a few times. I go out on to the ice and I get the puck. I am able to move it to about mid ice then I pass it to Clayton where it happens……..

He scores

As the goal horn goes off the only thing I can do is run to Clayton to celebrate, give him the biggest hug and yell each other’s names in unison. It feels like eternity when I am holding him, I wish I could hold him forever.

But this only happens for a moment, the rest of the team comes charging off of the bench to celebrate. As they do I see Clayton glance overy at me and flash me a little smile and I do so back.
