I don't like the way "religious psychosis" is being thrown around.
religious psychosis is not:
being evangelical and attempting to inflict your religion on others
being particularly devoted to a religion
having bigoted beliefs because of religion
allowing religious beliefs to inform your world view
being religious (in general)
an example of psychosis that is intertwined with religion
often detached from prior religious beliefs, or is an extreme version of prior religious beliefs
often something that includes hallucinations alongside the delusions that people talk about
debilitating and often frightening.
usually caused by another condition
you can talk about bigoted religious beliefs without pathologizing bigoted behavior. odds are that christian nationalist doesn't have religious psychosis- they're just a fascist. pathologizing fascist and bigoted behavior just gives a free pass to the people doing it. acknowledge that fascists are making these choices of their own free will and have every ability to stop making those choices at any time- they just don't want to.
