ladibugs:
The Felix that Chatte is familiar with surely wouldn’t ever invite her to stay the night. Nothing about this is like the Felix she knows, and Chatte’s curious. She wants to find out every little bit of Felix, find out why he treats her so differently when she’s like this. Besides, Felix’s pats were nice, and Chatte didn’t really want to go home and feel lonely.
Chatte tilted her head to the side slightly, her tail swishing back and forth excitedly. “Are you inviting me to stay? Because you know, once you let a stray in, they’ll never want to leave.” She grins at him then, full of mischief and challenge. If Felix will let her close as Chatte Noir, she’d be crazy not to take him up on the offer.
Felix’s face goes even redder when she grins at him- almost as red as the mask he gets when transformed at this point.
“Y-Yes.” He stammers.
God damn it. You shouldn’t invite your partner to stay the night with you!
“I just... I don’t want you to crash through anyone else’s window with how tired you seem.”
Yes, that’s a good justification. It’s totally not because part of him doesn’t want her to leave.
Trying to get control of himself, he smiles confidentially. “Besides, I don’t mind a stray hanging around. I’ve always been a cat person.”
He regrets the words the moment they leave his mouth, but he doesn’t let his smile slip.
He definitely shouldn’t be flirting with his partner, but he said that, and that was definitely flirty.

Bridgette managed a smile, despite the turmoil inside of her. “With magic, just about anything is possible.” Her words are soft and gentle, the angry tone from before entirely gone. She takes a few sips of her tea, letting Felix hav ea moment before speaking again. “I can’t leave until the end of the week, at the earliest. I’m-” she broke off, looking away and frowning as she tried to figure out how to best explain this to Felix. “I’m waiting for something. I can’t preform the transformation spell on myself just yet.” Her curse wouldn’t let her until she became the spider. The spider had to have control of her for a day or two before it’d be safe enough to. Right now, when it was fighting her for the chance to get out, it was far too dangerous.
“I’m going to finish up that potion.” She stands and walks over to it, setting the tea to the side as she starts working. “You can take your time with learning, there’s no rush. In fact, I’d suggest starting any sort of lesson when you have a level head. Doing magic when you’re upset can be dangerous. If this wasn’t on a time limit, I’d take a break as well. Unfortunately,” she drops a few leaves in, watching as a puff of blue smoke goes up from the cauldron, “I don’t have the time to spare.”
Felix weakly manages a smile back.
Anything is possible with magic...
That’s a very optimistic statement. He’s never been particularly optimistic, but maybe he could try now.
This is a fresh start. He away from the misery of his old life, and while current circumstances aren’t ideal, with the... complicated connection between him and Bridgette that was just revealed. He can try to have a more positive outlook now.
Couldn’t be any worse than his life was before.
“That’s fine... I’m in no particular rush to go back... I just... He needs to know...”
And he could actually say goodbye to Adrien at least.
He drinks his tea in silence, just watching her work on the potion.
Being level headed most of the time is something Felix prides himself on, so it’s good to know that he’s usually of the right mindset to do magic.
But even still, he’s filled with trepidation as he watches her work.
Magic was something he was always curious about growing up, but he’s still struggling to accept that he has magic blood at all, let alone internalising the idea that he’ll be learning it.
None of this feels real, and Felix hasn’t felt that way since his mother disappeared and he wasn’t coping with it at all.
So feeling this way for the first time since then...
It’s making it a little difficult to calm back down.
the crown and the spider
ladibugs:
Bridgette just nods and starts the pot, keeping faced away from him. It’s difficult to think about her sister after so much putting it away, focusing on anything about the silence in the house. She tightens her hands, feeling the unpleasant way her fingernails dig into her palms. Her happy life could be ruined because of Felix. Marinette left for Adrien, and now, with Felix gone, Adrien must be prince, king. However, she keeps that to herself. Felix is hurting, and she’s sure he had his reasons. He doesn’t deserve a hateful attitude. These feelings will pass eventually, so long as she just keeps pushing through. “Marinette’s happiness is the only thing that makes the punishment bearable.” It slips out without her meaning to, her tone more aggressive than anything else she’s said. Her words were soft, so Bridgette just hopes that Felix didn’t hear her, despite the chances of that being small.
There’s silence for awhile, and Bridgette only speaks again after the tea has been poured. She carefully hands Felix his mug before sitting on the couch, shivering a bit as the hot liquid ran down her throat. She looked over at him. “I don’t know why you left, and I don’t need to know. If you want to get a message to Adrien though, you’re going with me. You can go in disguise, just as I will be, but I’m not going alone. I’m done doing people’s dirty work for them.”
Felix hears her quiet retort, but doesn’t say anything in response.
At this point, he doesn’t want to press. Given her almost angry tone, and the mention of a punishment, it’s clearly a sensitive, upsetting subject.
It wouldn’t do any good for them to both be upset, and Felix is still calming down from his... slight break down at being told he has magic blood.
He takes the tea from her quietly, staring into the cup silently as she talks.
Felix was afraid that she would press him on why he left, so the fact that doesn’t need to know is very much a relief.
“O-Okay...” He stammers quietly.
He loathes to go back, but if he’s in disguise, perhaps it would be okay. He wouldn’t be trapped there again.
“I just can’t be trapped there again...” He mumbles weakly. “But if I could talk to him myself, that would be preferred... I just thought that wasn’t possible...”
He takes a drink of his tea, trying to pull himself together, hating the slight tremble he can still hear in his own voice.
ladibugs:
It’s so comforting, having Felix this close, this gentle. She’s not quite sure what to do, so she just does what feels natural. His petting lulls a deep, rumbling purr from her throat, and she closes her eyes, nuzzling closer and lightly clutching at his sweater. Her tail flicks happily, and after a night of chilly air in her revealing suit she feels warm. “Thank you, Felix.” Her words are soft, and she’s not sure whether or not he introduced himself but they’ve met before so it shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
A loud yawn leaves her, and on reflex Chatte stretches out some, her tail straightening as she did. Sleepily, she rubs at her eyes, the purr dying to a soft rumble as she pulls away from Felix and stands, feeling a bit unstable. All that crying has left her exhausted, but it’d be rude to stay. She turns back to him, a shy and gentle smile on her face. “I should probably go. Thank you for your hospitality and your help. Can I come back?” Chatte couldn’t keep the eagerness from her voice even if she tried. Chatte can’t help but be thrilled at the sight of a slightly faded blush on his cheeks. Was that because of her? Hopefully it wasn’t embarrassment.
Felix can’t help but smile at Chatte’s purring and nuzzling. It’s just so cute, and he loves seeing her happy like this.
Though that thought causes his face to heat up again.
This is his partner. He can’t think of her like that. It’s not appropriate.
“It’s no trouble, Chatte...” He murmurs, still petting her softly. “It’s really no trouble.”
He lets her pulls away, nervously crossing his arms behind his back now that he’s no longer petting her.
A little too quickly Felix responds “Of course you can come back,” and his face goes red again at his own haste.
What’s wrong with you Agreste! She. Is. Your. Partner.
Despite chastising himself in his own thoughts, he finds himself quickly following that up with “You don’t have to go though, Chatte!”
Damn it. What the hell is wrong with him!?
“You... you seem really tired.” He says slowly, sure his face is bright red.
He’s clearly tired himself, given that he keeps saying things that would never leave his thoughts if he was his normal collected closed off self.
“Are you sure you could make it home safe?”

ladibugs:
Of course Felix would have to ask about when Adrien came the first time around. Bridgette’s reluctant to answer, but maybe it couldn’t hurt to give him a bit of information. At this point, he deserved some answers. She couldn’t just react like that without explanation. Bridgette stood up, going to the window and looking out it. She needed some space from him. Thinking about those days always made her skin itch, the spider inside fighting to escape. “Being a prince doesn’t change anything. You can still stay, as long as you’d like. My offers still stand.”
She takes her time answering, searching for the best words to use. This was going to be a difficult conversation, at least for her. She couldn’t afford to be careless. Tikki meowed before going over to her, jumping up onto the window sill and purring loudly when Bridgette began to pet her.
“He was upset. I found him sobbing in the woods not far from here. He was in bad shape – broken arm, scratches, bruises – it was clear he’d gotten into some sort of fight or that he’d taken a nasty fall. He came back with me and I help fixed him up.” Bridgette turned back towards Felix, her fingers idly scratching at Tikki’s ears. “At first, I was going to fix him up, give him supplies, and send him on his way. We-” She broke off and closed her eyes for a moment, gathering herself once more. “Marinette and I didn’t have many visitors. We didn’t have an extra room, and we didn’t have the time to spare watching after someone. Marinette pitched a fit though, so I let him stay. Eventually, I convinced him to go home. He told me about you, and how lonely you probably were in the wake of your mother’s death. I-I told him that it was likely unbearable, to lose your mother and then a sibling. After that, he slept on it, and the next day Marinette took him home.”
The irony of reuniting one sibling while losing another would never leave Bridgette. When she’d helped Adrien reach the conclusion to return home, she’d never known that Marinette had planned to leave with him from the very start. The letter that was left behind wasn’t unkind, but it had broken Bridgette’s heart. A week later, Sabine came and cursed Bridgette for letting Marinette leave. It would only be worth it if her sister was happy. There wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for Marinette’s happiness.
“Would you like tea?” She can’t meet Felix’s eyes, and her voice is weak, like she’s on the verge of tears.
Felix sighs, running his hands through his hair as she comments on im being a Prince not changing anything.
“I’m hardly deserving of being called a Prince anymore anyhow...” He mumbles, but doesn’t really elaborate on it.
No real Prince just abandons his people for selfish reasons like he did.
He leans forward on his hand, waiting in absolute silence for her to answer his question, half expecting her to not answer at this rate.
He wouldn’t be surprised. She’s clearly very sensitive about it.
He never wanted to ask Adrien what happened while he was gone though. He was just happy to have his brother back home safe.
Though thinking about that time just makes Felix feel more guilt ridden than he already was.
Just thinking about how he felt while Adrien was gone...
To think he’s putting Adrien through the same thing...
When Bridgette does answer, he quickly has to fight back tears again.
When their mother disappeared Felix was so internally focused he wan’t paying attention to his brother until Adrien was already gone, and then it was too late.
But Bridgette had convinced Adrien to comeback for Felix, and here Felix is, abandoning him now.
Shirking his responsibilities was one thing, but he’s left his brother, and Adrien will be stuck with all of Felix’s burdens in his absence.
“... I’m sorry...” He mumbles. “Losing your sister like that must have hurt. If it makes you feel better she’s living a happy life...”
He sighs, running his hands through his hair.
“Tea would be nice...”

If Felix wanted to learn, Bridgette could certainly help him. While she didn’t know everything there was to know about magic, she was in no way inexperienced. While she specialized in creation magic, she had some other tricks up her sleeves. She preferred to think of herself as a jack-of-all-trades. “As long as you chose to stay here I’ll help you learn.” Bridgette meant that. There weren’t many magic users in this area of the nation, and perhaps even fewer that would be willing to teach Felix without demanding some sort of payment. She just wanted the company. Without Marinette things were very lonely here.
When he mentioned going to the kingdom, bringing a message to Adrien, her eyes widened. Bridgette pulls away from him and shakes her head. “N-no! I can’t go near him, you don’t…” She realizes how much she’s messed up, that he’ll surely put two and two together that she knows Adrien. Bridgette tries to backpedal. “It’ll be weird, she’ll never accept the letter from me since I’m not going as myself.” Somehow that’s even worse.
“L-look I just- I can’t!” It would be impossible to face Adrien again. After what happened, her curse, there was no way she could speak with him or speak to Marinette properly. If her mother found out about her attempting to reach out to Adrien, there would surely be hell to pay.
He nods quietly, immediately assenting to stay with her to learn.
He didn’t really have a destination in place when he ran away. He just had to get away.
If he can’t be found here, even so close to the kingdom, then this is fine, and at least he’d have a purpose.
He can stay here and learn.
Felix’s eyes widen as she reacts rather extremely, pulling away.
He thought a letter through Marinette was a reasonable solution.
Does... Does she know who he’s referring to when he mentions his brother? He had a solid guess that she had met Adrien before after she asked about Marinette, since she had already- if jokingly- mentioned that she thought a Prince came out here before Felix.
But this reaction doesn’t make since unless she knows who he’s talking about.
Which means she knows who he is.
Of course she knows who he is. She’s close enough to the kingdom to recognise the crown Prince. How foolish of him to think she wouldn’t know who he is.
He didn’t even use a false name; merely withheld his surname.
Very quietly, staring at the floor- determinedly not looking at Bridgette-, he asks “What actually happened when Adrien came out here before? I assume this is where he came when he ran away and later returned with Marinette, especially given your reaction now...”

ladibugs:
There’s so much genuine affection and compassion in Felix’s voice that makes Chatte start to believe his words. She knows she’s important, it’s just so easy to forget when everyone seemed to be trying to convince her that she wasn’t. Chatte wants to argue against him, to persuade him that no, she’s not important, she’s not worth the effort, but her words fail. Instead, there’s a soft purr from her throat, and she presses her face further against his chest, wishing that she could just vanish from this situation. Felix doesn’t stop there, and Chatte feels so overwhelmed by what he’s saying. It doesn’t make sense to her, not when she’s upset and distraught. Her arms wrap around him tightly, and when she’s pulled herself together enough, she murmurs a soft thank you.
It’s strange, how Felix is letting her so close right now despite pushing her away when she’s herself. Chatte feels conflicted, and eventually, it’s enough to get her to pull away just slightly. She straightens and carefully wipes away the tears on her face, her ears pressing close against her head. “This must be a weird night for you,” she sniffs, refusing to meet Felix’s eyes and instead focusing on the window she’d shattered. “I’m sorry.” There’s a heartbroken honesty in her voice, and Chatte just wishes she could give Coccinelle a hug right now. It really hadn’t been a good idea to just leave him there. With a heavy sigh, Chatte leans up against him with a low purr. She closes her eyes, tail flicking about lazily. “Coccinelle’s gonna kill me.” Chatte was craving comfort, to just feel loved as Chatte for a little while. So long as Felix was offering, she was going to take him up on it.
He just keeps hugging and petting her as she calms down, feeling a little flustered by how close she’s pressing into him.
His partner means the world to him. She always has. But like this, with him out of his mask... it feels more personal. He feels more vulnerable.
And like this his own feelings are quickly becoming starkly clear to himself.
Felix doesn’t want to feel this way about his partner though. Romantic feelings are hardly conductive to fighting at full efficacy. Feelings like that cloud thoughts and break focus.
Despite this he feels his face heating up and wishes that he wasn’t doing this as a civillain, because at least his mask would cover his blush.
At least she can’t see his face, leaning into him as she is.
He quickly wipes his expression clear of emotion as she pulls away, hoping his blush isn’t particularly visible.
Gently, he reaches forward, cupping her cheek and turning her head to look at him again. “It’s better than sitting in my room by myself with a book I’ve read dozens of times before Chatte, weird or not. You don’t need to apologise.”
He smiles, despite his better judgement, happy that she’s again leaning into her, and returns to petting her at once. “I’m sure won’t. He’s a reasonable person. He won’t be upset...”

ladibugs:
Despite her realization about Felix’s identy, her breaks for him. He sounds so sad, and she hates it. Bridgette almost regrets telling him the truth, but she knows in her heart that eventually he’ll find out. At least he presented somewhere safe, with someone who would help him rather than abuse him for his powers. Gently, Bridgette squeezes his arm. “I wish I knew Felix. I wish I could give you all the answers.” Her words are soft, and Bridgette means every one of them. She doesn’t know why this information was kept from Felix, but now that it’s out in the open she’s responsible for making sure that he’s going to be okay. Magic in an unstable user isn’t a good idea, and would likely cause damage that Felix wouldn’t know how to reverse. Bridgette can’t allow that.
Tikki hops up onto the couch, purring softly and rubbing her head against Felix’s side. Bridgette smiles for a moment before her frown returns. Carefully, she touches under his jaw, gently moving his head to look at her. Once he holds eye contact well enough, she drops her hand. “Whatever the reason, you’ll never know. The question you must now ask yourself is what you’re going to do about it? You’ve got endless options. If your mother was here to teach you, to guide you on your journey, what would she have wanted?”
Felix knows his brother needs to know about this. He’s still there... he’s still with their father...
If he... presents... It could be catastrophic for him. He’s there with their hateful cruel father.
Felix doesn’t want to imagine what their father might do to Adrien if he showed himself to be magic...
At Bridgette’s gentle squeezing of his arm, and her soft reassurance, he has to fight back tears again.
Witches, he was always taught, were evil beings who consorted with the devil, but Bridgette is so kind to him She has been this whole time.
And it’s looking likely that his mother... his warm loving mother... where his father was cold and distant... was a witch as well...
He feels like his whole world is crumbling around him, but he needs to pull himself together. He can’t remain a teary eyed mess like this.
Absentmindedly he pets Tikki as she rubs up against him, staring blankly at his own lap, managing to restrain his tears again.
He gasps sharply as she lifts his head to meet her eyes, but does so, his green eyes locking with her blue, and he breaths slowly as he listens to er.
“I... she... She would have wanted me to learn... she always hated how restrictive my father is... Always encouraged me to chase after anything and everything I was interested in, even if my father would swiftly shut it down...” He closes his eyes, smiling sadly, just thinking about his mother for a moment.
If she didn’t tell him or his brother it’s probably because their father prevented her from doing so.
She loved them too much to do that maliciously. That must be their father’s doing.
“But... I...” He sighs.
Adrien needs to know. Somehow.
“My little brother needs to know... But.. I can’t go back... I just... can’t...”
Then something occurs to him, and he looks back up at Bridgette quickly.
“You’re going to go talk to Marinette, right? She... she knows my brother. Could you... could you give her a letter to give to him? He needs to know...”
@cxffeeandkitties
“Felix if I knew why I can’t seem to get more than a full sentence out to your brother do you think I would have told you by now?”
Marinette replied, not looking up from her sketchbook at the other Agreste. She didn’t know what about Felix made it so easy to talk to him. She was working on a new design for the upcoming winter as she could already feel the cooling air to starting to chip away at her energy levels.
“Well it’s getting annoying Marinette.” Felix mutters, glancing up at the dark haired girl briefly from his own sketchbook. “You’re a perfectly intelligent, collected girl but only if my brother isn’t in the room.”
He pauses, scowling at his own design- something for Christmas that he’s getting an early start on, hoping to get it good enough for his father- and flips the page in annoyance, not happy with it.
“Maybe he’d like you if you’d act like a normal person around him.”

As he pulled her tighter she grew even more surprised. Chatte had never thought that Felix would treat her with such kindness and compassion. Her tears turned into sobs, and she shook against him, her hands curling into tight fist in her lap. Her tail revealed how much she wanted to reach out, to just collapse against him and let all that she’d been holding in go.
“You don’t even know me,” she whispered, fingers finally moving. Her claws of her left hand lightly poked into his side, not enough to hurt, just enough to make themselves known. “How can you say that when you don’t even know me.” Her voice stopped working then, her sobs becoming ragged and loud. Chatte’s body trembled as she tried to get herself under control. Every emotion she’d pushed away since being gifted with the Miraculous, with her curse, was fighting it’s way out.
Later, she’d want to look into the reasons behind the sudden kindness Felix offered, but for now, she just wanted to be wrapped up and held until she could forget about all of this.
“Maybe I don’t know you, but...” He murmurs softly, lying that he doesn’t know her, still hugging her tightly, and gently petting her hair. “But everyone is important Chatte. But not only that, but I don’t have to know you to see that you’re important in protecting Paris. Coccinelle wouldn’t stand a chance if he didn’t have you to fight by his side. And I mean you fighting with him, not you throwing yourself in the way of hits for him.”
He’s hoping she takes his words to heart. He doesn’t want her to feel that way about herself. She’s the most important person in the world to him, and to think she believes herself to be unimportant.
“His luck can only help him so much without his partner at his side. You are incredibly important to him, and...” He trails off, considering his next words carefully, trying to reassure her, without giving his identity away. “Just given the way I’ve seen him act around you, he clearly cares deeply about you, beyond just you being his partner...”
He doesn’t know what else he could say to reassure her, so he just keeps hugging her, gently petting her.
