hellhazards:
He noted her lack of response with his gaze casting over her entirely, trying to find tell to the words she withheld but found nothing to indicate. When his blues caught hers again he inhaled deeply, held it light the last hair left before he sighed, âTo be honest Iâm probably the least likely to understand what youâre talking about. You might have to break it down for the simple minded.â He didnât know much of the being before him let alone others and how fair their coexistence would be. He had only speculated the troubles that would come with time or the hierarchy between the species that would form, suspicious heâd be among the lowly. âWhat I do know are simple truths, one of them being that harmony is temporary. Weâre in the eye of the storm, the worst disaster has yet to come and it will be our own doing. Thatâs what I know but you can find it in any history book.â From eyes to pearly teeth, the urge to diffuse his building tension seemed natural but he held steadfast in keeping her in his sights. âIâm not bothered, though I do have a name, Henry that is. The other part is a detail. And you are?â
Still she studied his face, the shift in expression to the almost lazy smirk. It caused a twinkle in her own eye, one that Petra didnât bother to cover or hide. âLeast likely to understand what, now? The discord or the smarmy understanding of your species?â At least he seemed remotely intelligent when it came to the idea of Paradox, the joke that coexisting in such a manner suggested. Petra was almost certain that anyone else would try to convince her of their false accords -- words that she had no interest in hearing whatsoever. The topic shifted when he mentioned his name, she whispered it as if tasting it on the tip of her tongue, a question more than not ... âHenry ...â Her eyes narrowed slightly, though the mischief still existed within them. Now the succubus did step forward, fully invading upon his personal space and unabashedly squaring him up with her gaze. When it finally landed on his hues she was looking much higher than her own comfortable position, though she did not quite feel small. âPetra.â
deadlyprxdator:
âYou could walk everywhere, youâre just too high maintenance to,â he muttered with a roll of his eyes, crossing his arms. âThat one runs 250 points, comes with a warranty.â
âI could, but it would take a lot longer when Iâm given official things to do.â Petra snorted, canting her head at the bike, âWhat sort of warranty? Do I get to ride you around if it breaks down on me, handsome?â
hellhazards:
Before he could stop himself to her comment the man blurted out, âWhat the hell does that mean,â making him quickly look away and mouth open as he though of something else to say. âIâve only been here for  a short period of time. Months but I donât really keep count.â Five, to be exact but he had remained low key for so long moving his small quantity of belongs it was truthfully less. Still her title, or the only moniker he could place to her, made his gaze snap to her and barely leave to blink, watching her closely. âIâm still not sure what this is supposed to be. Whatâs wrong with the world that wasnât already wrong with it before?â
Rather than justify her statement with a more clear answer the succubus merely chuckled softly, shaking her head at how forward he had blurted it out. âA short period of time? So youâre more aware of this shit show. Pretending everything is hunky dory when the world is coming down around us. Thinking we can all live in harmony and sing kumbaya while discord runs rampant, rife within our little community.â Teeth nipped at her lower lip, all the while icy hues kept at him with amused interest. âYou look bothered, warlock.â
deadlyprxdator:
âMind your own business,â he growled, avoiding looking at her before he led her out back and pointed out a few motorcycles that heâd fixed up himself. âAll three are running decent, middle oneâs the only finished one, did it myself.â
âAwfully touchy, arenât you?â It was pointed more under her breath than not, though Petra wasnât too concerned if he heard. With the explanation of his bikes out of the way she cocked her head, âHow much, then? I canât walk everywhere. And if itâs the only one fixed up ...â
hellhazards:
His brows raised in shock and curiosity, the sharpness of her tone taking him further aback to be addressed as such. To be asked. So many times he had been surprised to discover people not human it was easy to fall into the old mindset he was surprised the question hadnât been asked before, but thankful. So he pursed his lips, pocketed his hands and gave a dismissal shake of his head saying, âWarlock. What are you?â
His surprise was amusing, more than anything. She was used to getting what she wanted, when she wasnât being tossed around like a rag doll. Giving a small squint to her eyes, Petra took a long moment to study him more fully -- more pointedly, when he announced his species. âMmn, yes you are. And how long have you been here?â Of course she took her time digesting his question. Petra replaced the harsh edge of her prior tone with something more pointedly sweet, canting her head just-so even to appear more ... friendly. Or at least approachable. âSuccubus.â
deadlyprxdator:
Clenching his teeth, Peter decided to let it go for the time being, grabbing his clipboard and coughing roughly into a rag, ignoring the blood on the white towel. âYour car was totaled, not sure how the hell you walked out of that one. Kinda wish you hadnât but more business for me.â
âI pulled a piece of metal roughly the size of the stick up your ass out of my leg and had a nice, big lunch right after. Iâll spare you the details. Anything for sale on the lot? A bike, or something? Iâll pay cash.â A brow quirked at the cough, the red speckles on the rag that came away from it when he hissed his poison, âYou need a doctor or something?â
hellhazards:
âWell I wouldnât know anything about that and it was a theoretical you. I think thatâs what they call it,â he shrugged. âWhat exactly has this place decreased to?â
âThis,â A hard rush of air pushed from her nostrils and she finally shifted to take him into consideration. The amalgamation of races all attempting to coincide peacefully was enough to trigger her upchuck reflex. âAnd what are you?â
deadlyprxdator:
âMaybe you should rethink your strategy,â he snapped, glaring at the woman.
âYouâre right, hold on.â She paused for a moment, batting her lashes, âWill you pretty please with sugar on top stop being a cunt and do the job it says posted on the door, handsome?â
deadlyprxdator:
âWhat is it with you snotty bitches and your aversion to danger?â
âMaybe I only react accordingly to things that I perceive as an actual threat.â
deadlyprxdator:
âGet out, before I rip your damn head off!â Peter snapped with a feral growl.
She settled, pressing herself into the door frame and quirking a brow, âWhat a way to snare in customers.â
katherine-decker:
âAnd that my dear is exactly why youâve been brought here.â With a flick of her wrist she motioned for Petra to follow her. âYour flair for the dramatic isnât needed darling, I would prefer it if you hyperbolized elsewhere.â
âI donât have a flair for anything. Youâd realize that if you pulled your head out of your ass.â She followed, crossing her arms over her chest and feeling her eyes give another roll. âJust tell me what you want.â
hellhazards:
âBecause when the cracks are exposed and everything crumbles to the ground, you know where the lowest point ends,â he spoke, trying to find a line of sight she was referencing. âOnce you know the lowest point and the threads that fell apart you build it better. Or at least thatâs what Iâve been told. Iâm not entirely sure I believe it.â
âYou talk an awful lot,â Eyes narrowed, shoulder pressing into the frame of the doorway. âI havenât hit any low points. This place has. Though my expectations were never high to begin with.â
Hey boys! Is that any way to treat a l a d y?
âI donât know what I expected.â Petra felt the roll of her eyes as her shoulders stiffened, âMaybe something of use to be happening, something ... worthwhile. Instead this place is falling apart at the seams. Why wouldnât it be?â
