she’s honestly surprised to see all the books that he’s carrying and at first she assumes that they’re textbooks. but she notices the dust on them and peers a little bit closer and. oh they’re cookbooks. when she looks up at him, she can tell that he’s a bit excited and...

✧ “No.” Tobio closed the cabinets once more, it was rare to say but he was actually craving something sweet. Mommy is going to be out all day and the only one here was Nee-San. As much as he wanted to ask if she could make him something to snack on he held down his urge, not wanting to bother her. Just one more look. He swung open the last cabinet, noting that it was rather dusty, and there was a large pile of…books.

✧ Temptation came over him and he leaned down and in pulling a couple out, these were baking books? When was the last time Mommy actually baked something? Blue eyes gleamed, with the holidays around the corner he had an idea. Carrying as much as he can he wobbled back up and started to make his way to Tama’s room. He stood right in front of the door and knocked with his foot. “Nee-San, Nee-San !”

she had been staring at her ceiling for what felt like an hour now. since their mom had been out and about, Tamayo was left to do her own thing, along with her brother. which usually consisted of homework (which was accompanied with a lot of struggling), volleyball and sometimes other hobbies. but none of those had any appeal to hear. especially not homework (she was stuck on some page with English and not ready to deal with the language just yet).

though, hearing the knock took Tamayo from her trance from staring at her ceiling. ‘what is it?’

it’s a bit of a surprise for her to read something like this. was this actually directed towards her? was it a joke? did they mean to send it in order to hurt her? because she doesn’t, nor would she ever expect anyone to like her.

♔ After quieting his tears so he could listen to his sister speak up softly he let out another chocked sound. Using both hands to cover up his face, he started to wipe away the mess he had on his cheeks. “R-Really…?” After being raised in the same household for years he knew his sister wouldn’t lie to him. Not at a time like this. He always knew he could depend on her, sometimes more than mom.

♔ Okay. He slapped his face a couple times trying to stop the tears threatening to come out and wiped his nose- sniffling loudly. His cheeks will just get damp again, he knows it. Slowly and painfully he got up, and it wasn’t hard to point out that his legs were shaking as he turned around. For a couple of moments he held his hand on the lock. 

♔ Once he twisted it he felt his stomach turned along with it and he immediately began to cry out again. She was actually there. Standing in front of his door. Before he started blubbering out ‘I’m so sorry’ and ‘Please forgive me’ he could see the concern all over his face. Tobio didn’t waste a second to reach out and embrace her. This is why he hated crying. His voice got all shaky and his face felt all sloppy. “I-I didn’t mean to- I was-” Most of his words caught off as he continued to weep. “I’m s-sorry.”

‘really.’ how could she lie to him? that would be cruel. and the world’s already been too cruel to him. it’s her place to help heal the wounds that have been there and lying wasn’t the way to do that. so of course she would be honest, especially at a time like this.

she hears the movement and she’ll wait. she’ll wait for him to be ready to show his face and to be ready to talk. (because who is she not to be patient with one of the few people who she can trust.) and seeing the tear stained cheeks and red eyes, she felt her heart ache just a bit. (when was the last time she saw him this upset?) when he reached out to her, sobbing, she held her arms open, embracing him and the tears staining her shirt. she’s here for him.

‘it’s okay.’ she murmurs, holding him and rubbing his back. often their mom would do this in order to sooth them, so of course tamayo picked up on it. (she would do it for whenever oiwake-chan would get too flustered after a situation being diffused. because an ace is there for her teammates, right?) ‘it’s alright, tobio. now take your time and tell me what happened, okay?’ if he decided not to, she could deal with that. but now, she’ll wait for him to calm down and take his time to let out all of his tears. (it would be for the best, of course.)
