The city of Eternia was especially busy today, thanks to Edea Lee’s recent suggestion: a city-wide bazaar, where merchants from all over Luxendarc were welcome to set up their booths and sell their wares along the snow-covered streets.
As a result, the streets were far more crowded than usual. Proud of the event, she strolled along, greeting foreign faces politely as she passed.
"Hello! Welcome to Eternia!"
"and it's just as beautiful as the woman i stand before, if not a little cold. but i believe my angel trumps any land when it comes to beauty!" he chuckles behind his hand, eyes closing.
ringabel had hardly been to eternia (outside of when he was alternis, of course)--it was definitely different, and he hadn't expected to arrive during some kind of event like this. it seemed positively cheery for such a cold environment.

So She Dances || Edea & Ringabel
This time, she really does roll her eyes. She’s not sure why the infamous Ringabel of all people has taken such a sudden interest in her, and she’s equally unsure that she wants to know the answer to that. To his credit, he’s fairly candid when he speaks, and seems to take himself a little less seriously than she’d originally suspected.
”So, are you here to sketch the dancers, then?” Edea inquires without looking at him. She waves cheerily to one of the girls, who grins back in response, then — oddly — shoots her a wink, inclining her head towards the man beside her.
It wasn’t all that unusual for the fine arts students to quietly slip into one of the classes to practice their figure drawing. The instructors allowed it, on the condition that they not disturb the dancers. There was even a bench by the entrance where they were allowed to sit while they worked.
a blush stains his cheeks, and he hugs his skethcbook close to his chest, casting a glance aside. "i actually lost track of where i was and slipped in here. lucky i did, i think," then that blush disappears and he flashes her a grin, rising to his feet and moving to the bench to settle down on it.
"i'm quite late for one of my classes--i might as well stick around here to avoid a scolding, eh?"
he opens his sketchbook back to his earliest drawing of her, in a perpetual arabesque. he's quite proud of it, he even thinks of coloring it. but he thinks he'll draw some more of the dan- cers, and edea once more, before he does any- thing else.
"no need to fret, my dears, for i've returned! haha! ha!"
So She Dances || Edea & Ringabel
A smile with a hint of smugness tugs at the corners of her lips as she resists the urge to roll her eyes. It was incredibly satisfying to catch him off-guard. The man titters nervously, apparently feeling rather guilty to have his own dirty laundry aired in front of him, so to speak.
”So, women inspire you, then.”
She flips back to the page where her black and white double is posed eternally in arabesque, admiring the subtle, understated yet unmistakable beauty of the piece.
“You know, you won’t be able to please everyone.”
Edea passes the sketchbook back to him. Bending at the waist, she stretches her spine for a few moments, then sets about loosening the ribbons of her pointe shoes.
”Do you dance at all?”
"but i made you smile--and that's all that matters to me," you can practically see the hearts in his eyes. he takes the sketchbook back, setting it aside, then checks the time. 7:15AM. he is already late to class, but something tells him he won't be going today.
to answer her question, he says, "ah, a little, but not ballet. i'm afraid i'm not too talented outside of illustration and writing." he looks even more embarrassed. "you don't even want to hear me sing!" followed by a little laugh.
already, more girls were filing in, and ringabel eyes them carefully. they whisper amongst one another behind their hands, peeking over at rin- gabel and edea curiously, possibly wondering just what the handsome senior wants with their freshman friend!

So She Dances || Edea & Ringabel
There’s a poignant pause before she speaks again. Her pale brows raise incredulously. There was absolutely no way he wasn’t aware of his own reputation.
”The ones that say that you’ve seduced more than half the girls on campus.”
Idly, she flips through the sketchbook she still holds. The pages are full of beautiful illustrations, some in pencil, others in charcoal and ink. He really is a gifted artist, it appears. However, Edea pays special attention to the fact that almost none of his sketches feature men as subjects.
”Well? Is it an exaggeration…?”
he stares at her for a moment, not expecting her to have been so... forward. a nervous chuckle leaves him. what would she do if he said yes? cheeks flare up, and he swallows, before saying, "i wouldn't say more than half..." though that... probably isn't an exaggeration.
he's only slept with two or three, anyways. that had to count for something! right?!
rubbing the back of his neck, he looks away, as if he's ashamed. "i do love women, very much so, actually. i love seeing them happy, with blushes on their faces and light in their eyes. i would do anything for them."
So She Dances || Edea & Ringabel
The sketch is lovely. He’s somehow managed to capture her silhouette in so few strokes. His lines flow together organically, giving the illusion of motion. She half expects her black and white self to leap off the page and perform for them. Smiling thoughtfully, Edea traces the line of her drawn self’s arm with her fingertip.
“It’s beautiful. The rumours about your talent certainly didn’t exaggerate.”
She looks back up at him, blue eyes meeting grey, her expression turning guarded once again.
”I suppose I’ll have to wait and see for myself whether or not all the other rumours are also true.”
for just a moment, he's able to see her brilliant smile, and it warms his heart. he nearly clutches his chest. perhaps he's being melodramatic, but he thinks he's in love with this wonderous dancer. everything about her seems so... perfect.
"what other rumors?" he has to smile mis- chievously, though finds it hard to meet her gaze. it's hard, cold, and makes it perfectly clear that she isn't interested.
ah... what a downer.
Would you like to have children with Edea?
"i... would... LOVE TO!"
— ❀ — Agnès let Ringabel do as he pleased, feeling the faintest pulls tug at her hair. Leaning her head back in the slightest, she let him fix her brown locks, honestly enjoying his ministrations. For a moment, the vestal closed her eyes, the feeling of her companion’s fingers soothing her….
"Oh," she mumbled, a hand gingerly touching her own hair. Beaming a smile at the other, she chirped, ”A thousand thanks, Ringabel.”
"you're very welcome, agnès. now you look absolutely wonderful. i'm sure tiz will think so, as well," his tone is teasing, and he bends down to peek over her shoulder. then he sets her head- band over her hair, fixing the locks over it and smiling.
with another laugh, he says, "i envy any many who would manage to grab your heart."
“marvelous,” is his heart-stricken reply. he opts to ignore the other’s impatience, but he should probably figure out where he is. or he could just waste his time some more. do you sing at all? i’ve never heard a voice so sweet.”
"oh, trust me. ah--you wouldn't... want to hear me sing..." he rubs the back of his neck, clearing his throat awkwardly.
So She Dances || Edea & Ringabel
She casts a cursory glance at the clock, which informs her that she has about twenty minutes before her class starts. Normally, she would practice right up until the other students started to arrive, but she’s only just beginning to catch her breath, so she resolves to rest while she can.
When Ringabel releases her hand, she takes the opportunity to roll her stiff shoulders, hoping to alleviate some of the tightness she feels in her neck and upper back. Graceful and effortless as it might seem to casual observers, ballet is an extremely strenuous activity that wreaks havoc on the body. There’s an audible crack, then Edea feels something in her neck loosen, and she sighs contentedly.
”You have my attention.” She says, hobbling over to the spot where his sketchbook and pencil lay unattended. There, she sinks to the floor, her legs stretched out in front of her, and begins to undo the ribbons of her pointe shoes.
"i've been in quite the rut lately, but seeing you and watching you perform has seemingly brought me out of it! and for that, i thank you." he hands over the sketchbook, where he had successfully sketched her arabesque form and even gotten in a few details. it is remarkably well- done.
ringabel beams, waiting for some kind of response. does she like it? is she impressed? this must be the angel he's been looking for all his life! that he's been dreaming of! and for that, he must do what he can to impress her and hopefully woo her.
wringing his hands together, he gives a quiet, "well?" it's innocent and soft, and his gray eyes are curious.
