        she’s thinking about ways to shut him up when he’s struck with pain at the most inconvenient of times. god, she didn’t think she could handle another second of his complaints. luckily, this is a problem that can be easily solved. she lets the IBUPROFEN comment slide, knowing he usually forgets the moments leading up to their sessions anyway.

     ‘ no, but– c’mere, i’m sure i have something that’ll do the trick, ‘ she says, her voice sickly sweet compared to the tone she usually takes up with him. she takes a seat next to danny, taking one of his hands in hers and using her free ( gloved ) hand to cup his face, gently turning his face towards hers. 

       ‘ you will OBEY your master. you will LISTEN to your master. you will LIVE for your master. do you understand, SOLDIER? ‘ her words are hypnotizing, literally. the master has perfected this skill, using it time and time again to keep danny around. this time is no different. ‘ repeat it back to me. ‘

   his head pounds as he sits at the table, trying to focus on objects all around the kitchen. the cupboards, the clock, the stove —— anything to get that damned headache to stop pounding at his head. hopefully the master would have something for him to get rid of it. danny comes back to the world around them when he feels the leathered hand take his. it was a familiar, soothing touch —— yet very fierce for reasons he can’t remember. 

   danny feels her other hand on his face. like before, it was a painful smoothness. she was gentle with him —— the master is gentle. he tries to remember that as his face turns to focus on her. 

    his eyes are deadlocked. he cannot look away from her. it’s as if he were a moth to a flame. he does not mood and his mind is clear. he can only listen to the commands being given to him.

   dan nods at her acknowledgement. soldier. he is her soldier. he is to do whatever she commands. and it appears she has just given him one.

     ❛       i will obey my master. i will listen to my master. i will live for my master. ❜ 

   he waits for her approval —— perhaps he will have served his purpose and more.

       she finishes with the task at hand within minutes, satisfied with her work, and drives to see her loyal human. surely he’s already making the tea like she had ORDERED him to, even though it’s been a while since their last…. SESSION. the effects must be wearing off a bit by now, and yet, he stays. interesting.

       the drive helps her let go of her anger at his comments, so when she arrives ( and walks in without knocking ) she greets him with a cheery, ‘ HONEY, i’m hoooome! ‘ she hangs up her coat and puts away her shoes, and for that moment, it’s almost like she’s living someone else’s life.

   she’s home, his master has returned to him. but unfortunately, as he hears the door close, his head starts to pound. danny puts his hand to his temple as he almost stumbles over in the kitchen. his other hand finds the counter, bringing his balance back to normal. his brain is beginning to see other memories, ones which he wasn’t sure even happened. they weren’t bad —— just different. ❛       took you long enough. oh, god —— ❜ he’s interrupted by the pain coming from his head again, taking a moment to sit at the table. 

   ❛ i don’t know where these keep coming from, but dear god, do they hurt. have we got any ibuprofen ? ❜ surely he’d forgotten that she isn’t unlike a doctor and can help with his condition. but perhaps, he thinks, that nothing more than a human remedy should do the trick.

        she knows he’s just trying to joke around a bit, but she can’t help the fact she inhales sharply at his words, and her blood boils. COUNT TO 10, MASTER, COUNT TO 10.

      ‘ and you best be careful, lest you forget who i am and exactly what i am capable of. ‘ she didn’t exactly BLOW UP at him, but her voice was cold as ice. she reminded herself that he wasn’t even capable of what he was joking about. he was just a HUMAN, after all. the master takes a deep breath, trying to reign it in. she has no time for extreme emotions. ‘ have tea ready for when i get there, ‘ she instructs, and not waiting for his reply she hangs up, putting her attention on the task at hand.

   he hangs up after her, getting up slowly to prepare the tea as she commanded. he wondered exactly what it was like to be hypnotized by her, fall under her alluring spell. surely he can’t have imagined going through it himself ( he was always loyal, she was always the person in charge, who he’d meant to fall for —— ) and he felt almost jealous. as if they were being shown the correct way of living, the proper manner of passage. he leaves the kettle on as he looks over the plans of attack for the next day, going over them one more time.

        she’s almost angry at him for persisting with this. who in the galaxy does he think he is? someone important? absolutely not. but then he brings up COAL HILL, and she lets out a sigh. 

        ‘ FINE. fine fine fine— i will try one more time to get the person i’m after. IF i succeed right now, i’ll come see you. we do need to gear up for tomorrow. ‘

    bingo. he’s just gotten himself a date with his master, though, of course, the lingering feeling that she is not who she was was still present. he lets out a small laugh as he accepts this victory, this one human triumph —— he can win just as often as the master can. ❛       i’d say that’s score one for the human race ! you’d best be careful or else i could be the one leading the whole operation ! ❜ he thinks he’d chosen the right words, by now she’d be able to take a bit of a jab —— but he could never be sure.

      ‘ i’d say that sounds enticing, but it really DOESN’T. i’ve really got my eyes set on this and if you’re getting in the way– well, i’ll leave what’ll happen up to your imagination. ‘

     ❛       come on, master. can’t you take your focus away for just an evening ? ❜ he curls up under his blanket, hoping that she’ll come to. though there were some nights where her plans were in motion, it didn’t mean that they couldn’t skip them. ( though of course, he’s trying his luck. lord knows what would happen if his master’s plans didn’t go accordingly. ) ❛ besides, we might need it for our —— escapade at coal hill tomorrow... ❜
