Back from Iceland with a first real shot at plein air painting.
Humbling to see how incredibly hard and challenging the craft is. Yet, going outside in the wild (for hours on spot) gives a connection and focus that no studio work can ever provide.
I’m looking forward the next painting trip, a few options are already in my mind.. !
“As avid art fans and collectors, we’re excited for this limited run exhibition featuring never-before-seen portraits of Andy Warhol. The portraits were taken by celebrated photographer, Steve Wood, and collected dust in Wood’s large filing cabinet unseen for over 30 years. In 2012, Wood’s friend and fellow photographer, David Munns, serendipitously stumbled across the lost images and urged Wood to share the images with the public. Hence, "Lost Then Found” was created to bring the rare portraits of Andy Warhol to light.
The “Lost Then Found” exhibition will be open for 10 days from May 2 to May 12, 2013 in New York at 345meatpacking. Mark your calendars, you don’t want to miss out on this exciting opportunity!“ via
If you are following my Instagram account (kari_devereaux) you probably have noticed I am really into the 1960s Fashion for this Fall. The 1960s were greatly transitional. In the United States John F. Kennedy took office as President of the United States in 1961, joining his side was his beautiful, inspiring First Lady. Jackie Kennedy innate sense of style made her the new “Queen of Fashion”. With her wonderful Fashion two piece suits. The first wave of baby boomers came of age and the Fashion Market shifted towards a more youthful silhouette. The French “ Baby Doll” made famous by Brigitte Bardot by her shorter skirts and big hair. Twiggy, the “it girl” was seen on most of the fashion Magazines in colorful shifts and free spirit, leading everyone to try the 60s style. This movement towards modernity lead to Designers creating psychedelic palettes of color turning their fashions into Art. I have gathered some of my favorite 1960s Baby Doll looks for inspiration.
