I went to a transgender lecture event led by a senior two spirit woman at my local library and didn't realize it was put on my a senior citizen condo board so most of the people there were 65+ straight cis people however it was so refreshing to see these people genuinely take an interest and have discussions about trans issues. It was a pretty diverse crowd with some older people discussing how it's hard in their native language because of gendered language and how they are working with their trans relatives to help them. One elderly woman was talking about how their grandkid was sometimes 'militant' about pronouns but never once did they misgender them. Some of the people who only came because they hadn't really met a trans person asked questions respectfully, they laughed with the trans speaker and were making notes on the handout. It's so easy to dismiss older people but some of them really do make an effort to see a perspective beyond their own.
