Ok so we have our two main guys: Leon(the angel) and Kian!
So the drawings I have of them currently posted on this blog are from an AU I recently made (The Angel x Priest AU lmao), where basically priests and angels work together!
In this universe, demons are a legitimate threat to the mortal realm, so humans and angels collaborate to eliminate them. To show that alliance, priests enter in contracts with angels to serve them. How? By giving the angel their prayers during a fight, which strengthens the angel. Angels can have multiple priests in their contract, but priests can only serve one angel at a time.
However, because humans naturally have weaker bodies than angels, they can’t constantly pray at the risk of bleeding internally.
Now, something that automatically weakens demons (to an extent) is silver! So priests wear some of it to protect them. However, they can’t cover themselves with silver because, yk, humility, but also because wearing too much silver would block the power transfer of their prayer to their angel. So there’s a dynamic of the priest providing extra power while also being a vulnerability to the angel.
Typically, priests wear silver rosaries and carry a flask with holy water inside as a last line of self-defense.
In this world, not every angel was born one; some become one because they died a heroic/selfless death, which is the case for Leon. He was actually a soldier during WW2 and sacrificed himself, resulting in him becoming an angel.
Another way a dead soul can become an angel is if they died as a child or were stillborn. However, instead of immediately fighting demons, they’re either trained to do so or choose to become a guardian angel.
Angels, due to their basically immortal nature, automatically view themselves as superior to humans. However, since a priest becomes their work partner but also a weakness, it humanizes them in a way ; making the angels want to protect their priest(s).
There is a hierarchical system for the Angels, but it’s not really important honestly. Obviously, Archangels are at the top, and then Angels, then guardian Angels. Priests are somewhat involved in Angel society, so they’d be above a guardian angel but still below an Angel (which is Leon’s rank).
OK SO THE OCs THEMSELVES:
Kian had an older sister who went missing after a tragic demon attack. That’s the day he wanted to become a priest.
His first contract with an angel ended horribly, which opened a case and the angel was promptly demoted and imprisoned. Kian stayed away from doing contracts for a long time after that. Eventually, he meets Leon. Stumbling into him during a demon attack in his town, Kian agrees to enter a contract with the angel. After all, he seems rather quiet and keeps to himself, so he doesn’t necessarily have to constantly be with him. Seems pretty low maintenance! But then eventually Leon starts unveiling more of his true self towards Kian. And then Kian finds himself rather…charmed by him? Uh oh.
Leon, as you know, was a soldier and died and then became a soldier with wings. He sees himself as a rather disposable foot soldier, especially due to his unresolved trauma from his days in the war. He’s definitely the type to self-sacrifice himself, and he tends to hold those closest to his heart at an arm’s length. He freaks OUT when he realizes how much Kian actually means to him. After all, that’s just some human priest who has…such a tender heart — and his smile…Plus, with having been an angel for a while, he kind of forgets how to interact with a human.
Matter of fact, it wasn’t the first time Leon met the priest…he remembers meeting a bedridden Kian, wrapped in bandages after suspicions rose around the angel he was serving at the time…
Leon has a young student named Jax, who really looks up to him. After all, he’s with THE Angel who kicked that one demon’s ass like, ages ago…kinda forgot when…no yea but Jax is a big fan!
Conclusion of Kian rejecting Leon’s hug(?)⤵️
The two become quite the popular duo and end up as borderline celebrities. They find a young newly-formed angel named Jordyn and adopt and raise her as their own.
Did I purposefully design her to look like Kian and Leon? Yes. Yes I did.
With two kids in the house, the two totally-not-parents end up inevitably growing closer…and closer…and closer…
And then Naomi, a freshly minted exorcist Angel lands at their doorstep. They ask (or rather beg) Kian to be their mentor, since he knows aaaall about defeating demons — and plus he’s rather famous among the angel youth so bonus coolness points in their books lmao.
So currently, as the story stands, we have a cute found family of five, with no threat whatsoever looming over the horizon…no sir…
Kian will eventually have to face an old enemy, but with his new family by his side, he actually feels like he has a chance at defeating him.
