can i be so honest for a second. with the initial disclaimer of 'undertale is also just a really good game', i cant take anyone seriously who asks why undertale got more popular than like, any triple A game or game that requires a console/beefy computer. undertale was 10$ and could be played easily on my 6 year old apple laptop that used to emit sparks. it was accessible to the most powerful audiences: broke people and teenagers

read below for (a lot) of worldbuilding and exposition stuff (i have so much brainworms about this au you don't understand-)

Ok so!!! The basic worldbuilding is that the solver is the 'company' (aka that weird tentacle mass living inside the sell cave). It needs to eat scrap to survive and become stronger so that it can eat planets and take over the galaxy!!! It already ate Earth (this universes version of the Golden planet) and is currently working up the strength to eat Copper 9. It used to just 'employ' humans to find scrap for it but it decided that was a little inefficient (humans are way too fragile and die too often) so it decided to repurpose the worker drones the humans made to work for it instead. However the worker drones ended up being 1) still too fragile (though less so than humans) and 2) evolved too much and ended up just forming colonies on the moons instead of actually collecting scrap. So it decided to make the disassembly drones instead, manufactured specifically for collecting scrap. Before making them though the solver found out that it could 'infect' the drones with the solver. Patient 1 was Cyn, who wasn't too happy about being used as a puppet and began trying to fight back, so the solver just decided to eat her instead. yum yum.

Tessa was one of the final humans still alive and was in a team with Cyn and J. Once Cyn was eaten the Solver was going to remove (aka eat) Tessa but Cyn convinced it to leave her alive. J was then transformed into a DD, and her and Tessa grew quite close, having to work efficiently together to gather scrap with just the two of them. Later, V was added as a special attacking variety of DD. N was the final addition to the team.

They were a great team and were steadily meeting quota's. N, V and J did all die several times but since they were DD's they were easily replaced with new versions each time, still with all their previous memories but sometimes slight changes. Soon though, Tessa began to find out the truth behind the company after reading logs left behind by the previous humans. The solver did not like this and snatched her up and ate her during the next sell day. N, V and J had expected her to just be replaced, since they assumed it would work the same as when they die- but they never considered the fact that Tessa was human. And Human's aren't replaceable.

Instead they get Uzi. Daughter of Nori, who was one of the other drones infected by the solver who then abdicated from the company and joined a colony on a moon's surface. Nori had been killed by other DD employee teams who had gotten desperate to meet quota and decided to use drones for scrap, and since Uzi was with her at the time, she was blamed and kicked out from the colony. She survived by herself on the moon for a while but ended up sneaking on to one of the employee ships and got captured by the company.

I've got more cooking up but I think I'll leave it for another time >:) Feel free to send asks about this!!!! I really want to yap about this idea hehe :3 Especially name suggestions!!! For now I'm probably just gonna call it 'murder company' but if anyone has any better ideas id love to hear them :3
