Indians and their urge to ignore basic human decency and civic sense.
How can I end this year without calling my own people out on their bullshit? That would be blasphemy.
Indians lack civic sense. I know it. You know it. I know that a whole-ass subject called civic sense should be prescribed in the syllabus so that Indians can learn what basic civic sense is from their early childhood.
Since there is no formal legal definition of what civic sense is, its common understanding only implies the role of individual responsibility, but misses the emphasis on the functioning of public systems for it to be practised. When instead civic sense is about how an individual’s behaviour plays out in spaces that are shared, governed, and structured by public systems.
Don’t you guys know what a line is or what a queue is about? Haven’t you seen how Japan and China board the train and how we do it? Kis baat ki jaldi hai tum sabko that you all form a crowd around the train gate instead of forming a line like a normal human being? And also, who do you think you are to cut in between the line so that tumhara kaam jaldi ho sakey? I have seen this play out in so many hospitals. Do you think cutting in between the lines makes you daring and cool? You look like an uneducated clown, by the way.

'Due to an excess population, there are fewer resources and more demand. So there is cut-throat competition for everything. To beat the competition, right from childhood, Indians learn to take short cuts and are surrounded by people doing the same. We learn from and adapt to our surroundings. India is a very laid-back country which lacks discipline. This leads to chaos and lawlessness everywhere. Culture is influenced more by religions and rituals than by intelligence and common sense. The majority of the population is underprivileged and prioritizes survival and self-improvement over social issues and the betterment of society. This leads to a lack of civic sense.'
Other points that I would like to make is:
We already have a few public toilets throughout northern India, and you make a mess of them? I am a woman, so I am only discussing women's public restrooms right now. Can't everyone learn basic hygiene? And, while I understand that education plays an important role in this, if the most educated people do not know how to use a public restroom, what can I expect from the rest? Take your intimate wipes with you everywhere, along with the pee-safe spray. For fucks sake, flush properly. Please do not dirty public restrooms, as we do not have many of them in north India.
Now for the most important part: treating India as if it were your own trash can. Why would anyone throw trash on the ground rather than in a bin? If a bin is no longer visible, please take your trash home or wait until you see one. Why would you just throw it on the ground? Don't you feel any guilt doing this? Especially on the hills. You throw your trash into the hills and continue hiking.
I'm from Uttarakhand; pull that stunt in front of me, and I'll throw that trash right back in your face.
If you don't understand the value of our motherland, you won't be able to appreciate it. Throwing trash on the ground, drying clothes on train railings, and polluting our own rivers.
Kaan ke neechey lagana chahiye tum sabke, tab shayad akkal aaye tum logon ko.
You are also one of the reasons why the West believes we are uncivilized.
Now, Let's talk about indian men. I have so many things to say about them ( all of them are only getting worse with each sentence), but for now, I will talk about them spitting on the ground.
Why do you do that? Do you think road tumhare baap ki hai?
Why do you urinate on the walls? I don't care ki tumjhe kitni tej se lagi ho, you are an adult- you can hold it till you find a public toilet or even in cafes and restaurants, using the washroom is allowed for everyone now because of the indian law.
Another issue is staring.
Do you realize how repulsive it is for women to be stared at by men? Indians have a terrible habit of staring at other people instead of focusing on their own businesses.
Do you know how creepy your staring is? It chills me to the bone. It's really eerie. Stop staring at women like you've never seen one, please for the love of God. It causes women to feel uneasy and afraid to go outside during the day.
When I discuss the problems with Indian men in general in the future, I will address this issue.
The purpose of this post was simply to highlight how we, as a society, must improve or we will continue to embarrass our motherland in front of the world, not to mention dirtying the name of our country and community even when traveling abroad.
